LOVE the El Camino's shade of blue OK, so I've researched the hell out of this one. Supposedly that Camino is painted in a "Corvette Dark Teal" which is a color I can't find. In 1969, GM supposedly offered a color called " Midnight Teal Metallic" that I can find no examples of. 1965 Chevelle "Tahitian Turquoise" is pretty close, as is 1967 Chevelle "Tahoe Turquoise". Those two are hard to tell apart from the pics I've seen. I remember seeing the '65 color, and memory says it has a lot of green in it. Both colors do, but the "65 looks more blue in the pics I've found while the '67 color looks more green in the pics. Those two colors are as close as I've gotten to the color of that Camino which is damn near perfect. If I go in this color direction, I'll be needing a tan or gray interior.

Oh, and the paint scheme is important because the donor truck has to have a compatible interior color. That's why I'm talking color now.

Not much. Just test-fitting the new panels, fixing one rust spot (tiny), and welding a bunch of small holes left by the emergency equipment. The bed is just bolted together, so I will unbolt all of the panels and have them stripped, and then put it back together with the new GM bedsides I have. Almost all of the work is simple nut and bolt stuff. The truck was not dented or rusted to begin with. I'll use the doors and front sheetmetal from the donor just because it will be easier and faster that way. The original panels and doors are all pretty good. I'll strip out the interior and windshield so everything can get painted, then put it all back together, the truck is already done mechanically.

Holden Ute Not Coming Due To High Tarrifs

An Aus CNG system probably wouldn't work in NA, though. Why? Would the fittings be compatible? Is the fuel compatible? Different countries, different markets..not to mention trying to get it certified by the EPA. CNG is simple and quite standardized, I really doubt that one single thing would have to be changed. As for the EPA, they will be a PITA no matter what car and what fuel we are talking about. -
I love it too, such a gorgeous machine in a gorgeous color.

LOVE the El Camino's shade of blue Yeah, I'm going to have to look that one up.

The CNG Ute is already on sale in Oz. No adaptation required. -

This is not a dream car, a show car made of vaporware, this is a vehicle that has been in production for decades. We are not talking about the Cadillac Sixteen or Cien here. -

And now, we are almost at the end of the second generation of Ute that meets US spec without any imports actually taking place. Such a waste. -

Yep. Even longer depending upon where you start to count the years. To have something like this in production and not offer it in your biggest market for so long while hinting about it over and over is the height of idiocy. Think of all of those lost sales due to the dithering. -

OK, so the tariff story was a flat-out lie. Isn't that nice? -

You don't get it, and that's ok. But you are mistaken when it comes to cause and effect, both the F-150 and the Chevy C/K trucks were top sellers all through the time that the El Camino and Ranchero were in production. Nothing has changed on that front. GMNA would sell every last Ute that Holden could build without breaking a sweat, Holden's capacity limits production to about 5-10,000 units max. Selling that many El Caminos would be a walk in the park. An El Camino is about want, not need. -

Whatever. I think I'm just about done giving a damn. -
Yeah, but it's only a 2WD so no great loss there. I might feel a small twinge of guilt ripping it apart, but I'd still rip it apart.

Good point. Also, why wasn't this an issue when the G8ST was approved? Just more excuses from GM. -

why would you make that assumption? If it came to Oshawa it would likely be because it is sharing with Camaro. Hyper has the right of this, it won't be sharing with Camaro. As for the rest, I expect that some asshat beancounter will decide that it only makes sense to sell it as a V6 automatic. It would be the crowning insult after all of the false starts this thing has had. -
If I went with a red metallic exterior, this would be a fine donor. Hmmm... a fat block for the Camino? http://allentown.craigslist.org/cto/3166624913.html

Of course, that means I have to change the interior color...

I think some sort of teal, or a deep, dark green is what I want. To hell with this white stuff.

It's that cut and dried for me. If it ever does come to Oshawa, likely it will only be offered in a v6 automatic - they can keep it if that's the case. -
Hope it works out for you.

Same old, same old. I care less and less about new GM products every day, and the one that might change my mind never comes. -
Other stuff I've been eyeballing

C6Ps are easy to spot. They will never have aluminum wheels, and will always have fender flares on these 400s. They also will always have 8-lug wheels and sit higher. Also, the difference between a 2500 C6P and an SRW 3500 is razor thin as I recall, with very little difference in the specs. So I am quite open to a K3500 with SRW, but no duallies! I could tolerate an extended cab shortbed, but really would prefer a standard cab longbed. Anything longer is just too long.
