  1. The ROPOS is one of these "light" 2500s as well.
  2. What's not "real 2500" about it? Essentially, it is what used to be called a "heavy half", it is a 1500 with heftier springs and such. The truck only sports 6-lug wheels and light-duty axles, and has a lower GVW than a "true' 2500. The option code for the real deal is C6P , and this isn't one. IIRC, the GVW on these is 7,200#, where a C6P is 8.600#.
  3. This is about as good as it gets right now. Not a real 2500 (in my opinion), too expensive, but the best that is even remotely within reason at the moment. I don't particularly like it. http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/3118271570.html
  4. Not many pics on the net, but I think this is a '77.
  5. This is the grille I remember:
  6. Interesting. Perhaps the one I remember was a different year. It was very different from the Monza grille, and quite Oldsmobile in appearance.
  7. How'd I ever miss this thread? So I have to ask, does anyone have an audio clip of the name in the original Zulu? Language evolves. Language is regional. That's really the long and short of it. Being honest, I think that I have heard (and used) both Im-pah-luh, and Im-pal-uh. My guess would be that the former can be traced to the Brits interpreting the Zulu, and that the latter is American in origin. So, you tell me what's "right".
  8. Something like that is likely what will happen now, Z. But the notion of me owning a tow truck is a dangerous one.
  9. This one is too nice to be a donor. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/3213501787.html
  10. I suppose that I could just do the minimum to get it back on the road and sell it that way.
  11. Really tough to say, depends on what I do and how well I do it. It is a real 80k mile truck with a brand new engine and all the heavy drivetrain stuff all the truck guys love. I'd sell it when I'm done, but not cheap.
  12. Green and cheap: http://delaware.craigslist.org/cto/3190308962.html

  15. Yep gibberish in the post, but the link works. I'd rather have the Chevelle...
  16. I've seen some good deals on dump trucks, but I really want something I can drive every day. Thanks for all of the suggestions and help guys, but I think this hunt is over for now.
  17. Anything is possible, but I won't hold my breath. Once I start putting money into one of my projects, this window closes.
  18. I think I'll just have to give up for now. Spend some cash on my projects and get them ready to sell.
  19. Well, so much for that. Truck sold last week.
  20. No argument there, Horse. I think I'm overdue.
  21. I e-mailed the seller. And yes, 9k is too much but it comes with a plow. Any rot is the trouble to look for. The cab corners, rockers, and above every wheelwell are the most common trouble spots. Also, Brake, fuel, and transmission lines under the truck are prone to rot and are a real PITA to repair. I would expect this truck to have none of those problems. Thanks in advance for volunteering to check it out for me. We'll see how the seller responds to my rather frank e-mail.
  22. I wrote to the seller and asked for pictures of this one. http://newhaven.crai...3208753006.html I e-mailed too. Haven't heard anything back from this guy. I hate it when people advertise, then don't respond! If you get to the point of wanting to investigate the black 3500, let me know. Is it close enough to you? I don't want to impose. Right now, I'm thinking about sending that seller an e-mail.
  23. I wrote to the seller and asked for pictures of this one. http://newhaven.crai...3208753006.html I e-mailed too.
