  1. Supposedly, it has always been garage-kept.
  2. http://newhaven.craigslist.org/cto/3183628744.html Do want.
  3. It does.
  4. Yeah, I hear all of that. But the parts are likely worth more than the asking price, so the purchase itself isn't much of a risk. It's the cost of present and future repairs that could make it all go bad... a slippery slope. Once I hang a plow on it, I'm committed.
  5. 6.0 is ok, an 8.1 would make me happier. Arkus and Zora battled twice recently with Arkus getting the worst of it. Then, he got a "hot spot" on his right hind leg and chewed at it until most of the fur on that leg was gone and it was bleeding ( only took him two days to do that - what the vet called the worst hot spot she has seen in 30 years). Last night, the leg started to swell at the joint pretty badly - so I took him in this morning. He is on multiple prescriptions... And, The battery in the ROPOS decided not to take a charge any more! Been that sort of day.
  6. He's resting alot - which is good.
  7. This one was listed just last night. I sent an e-mail this morning and it is already sold. http://newjersey.craigslist.org/cto/3212696471.html
  8. Arkus is all medicated up and I'll be feeding him pills for weeks... And yeah, $2800 doesn't buy much here either. The truck was advertised as being local, but it is currently somewhere in Jersey. The seller has offered to bring it down for me to see if I'm "serious about buying it". I told him that I was serious about looking at it. We'll see.
  9. I'll give this some more thought, but right now I need to get Arkus to the vet - he's a real mess.
  10. Why would the 4L80E make it a cheap fix? Unless you mean as opposed to the Alison. Hmm,,, re-calibrating...
  11. All of your concerns are valid. I guess it comes down to a judgement call after examining the truck. I think it's worth a look anyway. As far as plowing goes, a properly equipped truck, operated by a competent driver, should have little ill effect from plowing, And this truck hasn't been plowed with yet.
  12. I've always felt the same way, Ocn. However, I am seeing these trucks for sale with 260,280, and even upwards of 300k. I've even seen one with 400k. I'm starting to wonder if I need to re-calibrate my thinking about mileage.
  13. $2,850
  14. ...buying a truck with 229k miles on the clock? Here's the spec: - 2003 2500HD - Well equipped - 6.0 gas - plow prep and towing packages - good body and no rust - cap And the rub: -Needs reverse band in the trans. (4L80E) -Needs new cats -229k miles This configuration is exactly what I need, but the mileage... Thoughts?
  15. That's odd. It still works for me. Besides, I know where that one is parked.
  16. What's deleted? Both of the above links still work for me.
  17. If I had the cash, this one would already be in my driveway: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/3184408739.html
  18. True. Recent experience notwithstanding. If that one turns out to be the real deal, I'll be all over it. Thanks for checking it out for me.
  19. Horse: Things are ok, I've just been really busy and a bit frustrated. I want to resolve this truck thing. BP: That one sounds too good to be true...
  20. So far this has been a fruitless and frustrating search. I may try to crutch the ROPOS through one more year.
  21. Well now, that's different.
  22. Went and saw this truck today - it's a tad rougher than it looks and has a few issues. Not too bad though.
  23. It seems that I'm not going to find what I'm looking for all of a piece - I'll have to buy something and make it into what I want. I guess that's ok, but I was hoping to be done with this quickly. Some possibilities are brewing, I'll post if any bear fruit.
  24. Balthy: Whatever that first one you posted was, it got flagged and removed. Z: I've been tempted by 2500 Avalanches - even though they are soooo ugly. The one you posted would serve, but this will be a cash purchase and that's more cash than I have to spend right now. I'm leaning toward just buying that plain Jane 2WD Chevy for now and leaving the plow truck for another time.
  25. So true. It would be fine with me if every X-car that ever existed were crushed into oblivion. When GM stopped doing what they were best at, the long slide began. And these horrid little turds were the first mistake.
