  1. It's no secret that I have been disappointed in the G6 from the start, and the GXP just makes it a little worse. Can't wait to see this car get replaced.
  2. It's a shame about PCS, all that education and a successful career - yet no taste!
  3. Your family's best car purchase yet, BV! That car was a steal for what you paid! Well done.
  4. Camino LS6

    Drag week

I believe it's Muldowney. Once known as "Cha-Cha".
  5. I turned 14 in the middle of '77.
  6. One federal standard would be just fine. Adopting California's standards - not so much. California needs to get out of the business of setting emission standards.
  7. Congrats!
  8. If you like all that stuff, you'll like the other stuff from Kansas. Dust In The Wind is not really representative of their usual style. Any of these albums should do the trick: Kansas Song For America Masque Leftoverture Point of Know Return I'd also recommend this one if you can find it: In The Spirit Of Things
  9. Doubtful, but possible.
  10. Daytime shots,please.
  11. Yup! Fantastic song I have known and loved since its debut (yeah, I'm that old). I never knew for sure who the song was about until I decided to research it last night, which sent me on a diversion which started when I posted this last night until just now. I bounced form site to site learning quite a bit about what has happened to the band and its members over the years - it was a great escape from reality for me.
  12. I have always wanted to know who this song was about. I have a guess,do you? Once carried through the current And been swept away The king is in the closet He's hiding from today And though he owns all fortunes This is where he'll stay And his world is filled with darkness Turning grey Gazing out the window Of the 42nd floor He is separate from all others No one knocks upon his door And it might as well be raining Cuz the sunlight hurts his eyes And his ears will never hear the children's cries Once proud and full of passion He fought the cause of man Many people loved his courage Many followed his command He changed the old into the new And the course of things to come And then one day they noticed He was gone At first it didn't matter Nobody seemed to care They all became too busy To find him anywhere So no one knew, not even him The problems he would find On the day he journeyed deep into his mind I close my eyes, I go far away Away from the battlefield In my dreams well, here I will enjoy it Where innocence plays with all the laughing children The kind who are crying now A taste of freedom from the pain Of everything here i see Life is sweet but I took it all for granted And now i don't know if i can ever tell you Just what we permit, we allow Allow me to forget the life I've made my own I've held this nation in my hand and yet it's not my home Oh, allow me just one answer and one reason why Why this refugee of the family of man must die Tell me why Daydreams filled his nighttimes And night dreams filled his days Confusion and uncertainty A puzzled mind of haze You thought he was so powerful And set upon his ways Well he left us all to travel through his maze I heard the king was dying I heard the king was dead And with him died the chronicles That no one ever read The closet's fully empty now Its occupied by none I'll draw the drapes, now destiny is done
  13. :rotflmao:
  14. I can't believe you remembered that! I'm thinking of raising pigs! :AH-HA_wink:
  15. <-----Steers thread back to original topic. For me the bottom line on Saturn is quite simple: as it was set-up, it was a complete and utter failure. GM dumped terrifying sums into this experiment long before the first Saturn was ever built. In fact, by the time that actually happened (years later than planned) the black hole was so huge that there never was a chance of breaking even, let alone making a profit. It was the king of stupid ideas. And, I'm betting, the most expensive mistake GM has ever made. All that they had to do was to create viable small cars for the existing divisions, not build some psuedo-independant, quasi-creative, warm and fuzzy illusion of feel-good harmony that couldn't really exist in the first place. What they have now done is to make the best of an existing sales channel. What has been done with Saturn in the last two years alone did more good than everything done the entire time Saturn existed up to that point.
  16. Cool idea! As for the barn, I have to restrain myself from going too far with improvements as I don't own it. But I can't let all of that space go to waste. :AH-HA_wink:
  17. Chevy and Pontiac choices would change, at least. Chevy: Camaro SS Pontiac: G8 wagon (I know - iffy). Possibly a G8 ute or GTO ( also iffy) Any of those three would cause me to leave the Solstice on the lot.
  18. Thanks KC. I was going to hit a semi-local car show today with the '98 Hawk, but I think I'll split the weekend between the wagon and barn projects. Pics at some point.
  19. I've been to Oreland, not much there as I recall.
  20. No, I have a laborer who has worked with me in the landscaping business for the last few years. He will be helping me with the car projects as well. What makes you think that Ocn would be driving down from Lancaster County to build tool racks and shelving? I would welcome his input on the auto body front, though!
  21. Thanks. I will only be able to get so far with this until the wagon is finished (or at least mobile). Right now, it is blocking 2 other vehicles in and can't be moved until I finish at least the front suspension.
  22. Wild guess: '77 Olds 98.
  23. ... with a new project. I decided that I couldn't stand bumping into stuff, tripping over things and sqeezing past things in the lower part of the barn. So, my helper and I have been re-organizing the layout of the barn all week. All of the landscape/construction/woodworking and other non-car items are all moving upstairs to the space vacated by the Hawk, Maserati and GTO. I can't wait to get this done so that the entire downstairs will be dedicated to my car projects. I'm trying to get the layout right so that I can build a "retractable" paint booth, make room for a lift, install better lighting and outlets, build an enclosure for the compressor, and have my heaters installed. With 5 vehicles currently in the space, I can only do so much right now, but I have already gained a huge amount of floor space. I'll post some pics when I get phase one completed.
  24. Pointless puritanical foolishness.
