  1. That thought immediately crossed my mind as well!
  2. Part of the problem for me is that I've been unable to pull-off any quality "escapes" from the area for way too long. Consequently, my tolerance for all of the BS around here has grown very thin. Long term, I know that I have to get out of here. For the short term, a decent vacation would do wonders. I'll see if I can pull that off this year. When next I move, I want it to be for the last time. I need a sense of permanence more than anything - so I need to love the place I will eventually go to.
  3. I'm trying to keep my eyes on the bigger picture, but it does suck to see that empty spot in the barn. Thanks for the good wishes all.
  4. No, I'm not kidding. The "herd" gets on my nerves more each day. I've lived here all of my life and I really love this area, but the population density has ruined much of what I love about it. I feel disenfranchised. Hyden sounds like my kind of place.
  5. Way to complete a thread, Mouse! The dash really looks good. I need to get back to my projects - maybe tomorrow.
  6. The article doesn't specify that he designed the G6 concept. If its only the production car, then there is reason to worry. The production G6 was a HUGE letdown from the sleek concept.
  7. @ PCS
  8. Really? I hadn't noticed.
  9. Thanks everyone for the considered reponses, I am very curious about Australia and would very definitely like to see it. The thread title is half-joking as I think it is unlikely that I would move there, but I am very serious about changing what I do to something that is independent of geography so that I can live anywhere I choose and yet, make a living.
  10. Thanks guys, and yes, a new El Camino SS would get me back into a new car showroom rather quickly. Especially if Holden builds it. But I have a lot of work to do before that happens
  11. Basically that's it. I'm so sick of having people in my face all the time , everywhere I go. Though I enjoy travel and like visiting new places, what I crave is a secure, secluded home base where I can do as I please without hassle. I want a home base to return to from where ever I go that acts as sanctuary "far from the madding crowd".
  12. I love New England, especially in the fall.
  13. This is where 68 and I part company, I see this bodystyle as one of the ugliest things ever produced.
  14. Another aspect of taking on BMW would be the CTS coupe and wagon variants we have heard about.
  15. I was in Charlotte in March once - truly beautiful. 70 and sunny while PA was still encased in a thick coating of ice.
  16. I'm so sick of suburbia that it's making me violent (if only in my mind). And technology is starting to make me dizzy. Frankly, I don't care if I ever see a Starbucks, Best Buy, Target, Home depot, or McDonalds ever gain. I would never miss them.
  17. Sounds like heaven to me.
  18. Food for thought: My mother's cousin is a real estate agent in a more rural part of PA, and has a current listing which gives me pause. * two houses *5 outbuildings * 70 Acres $300,000
  19. Odds are I could have predicted your suggestion, yes. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. I'm thinking of teaching myself to live on very little income. And, I have no intention of living in any city- ever.
  21. I don't mean vacation destinations here, I mean a place without neighbors you can see without driving. A place where property values aren't measured in dollars, and "society" is a distant rumor. I think I want to spend a few years in a place like that. Maybe even the rest of my life. What place would you nominate?
  22. In today's America, anything short of some type of post-graduate degree is considered inadequate for a real salary. Sad commentary.
  23. Not for a while, but expect a long parade of "interesting" older cars to pass through the barn over the next few years. I want to be down to 3 or 4 at any given time: the truck, a driver, and a project, with the occassional second project or parts car.
