  1. Thanks for posting all of these, Roger. That first pic is a pretty good representation of what I'd have if I went all stock and original.
  2. Sad commentary.
  3. If there isn't some more to Alpha at Chevy than Camaro, I guess I'll just have to stick to building my own cars.
  4. An infinitely more logical approach. And while they are at it, they should remove the roadblocks to simple conversions to these alt fuels. EPA regs hold what could be a great industry back in this regard. Very stupid.
  5. Sure I can! They've been futzing-around with this and making promises they didn't keep for years! We've been cheated out of good things we could have had from Zeta while they diddled around, instead of having those good things while they worked on Alpha. They completely flubbed Zeta, and I'm not letting them forget it until some serious Alpha goodness hit a Chevy showroom. And I mean beyond simply a 6th gen Camaro. I expect more, much more.
  6. A quirky bit of US history at a steal of a price - Cheers.
  7. That seems unrealistically cheap. If accomplished, imagine the impact on the economy! Especially if the supply is domestic.
  8. I don't buy that for a minute. This will be a huge boondoggle, someone will meet the minimum requirements and collect the money. Then they will have a fire sale on the undesireable cars they built and quietly end production. The premise of this is wholly wrong-headed. If the government wants to spend our money on research, the least we should expect is that they do it with an eye toward providing a real solution. 60,000 sedans for a billion dollars is no answer to anything. This is the La La Land thinking we have in public office today. Crude Oil needs competition. Not at current prices but for a price of $1.00/gal. Yes!
  9. We don't need 100MPG cars, we need another fuel to power those we have now. Preferably one the is both domestic and renewable. Conservation of a finite resource will never solve the problem.
  10. looks more like it said Chevrolet. the stripping from the paint matches those letters more closely than "El Camino" I mean, given the badging (over)customization, It wouldn't be out of the question for the owner to have replaced the original El Camino badge with the "CHEVROLET" script from a Chevy truck, which is what it looks like was there and had fallen off. Entirely possible considering that the original badge (El Camino) was not attached with double sided tape, but with actual fasteners. That's what it had when it left the factory, and I guarantee that if you looked closely at that bowtie, you'd see where the original badge snapped - off.
  11. Better idea than CAFE, but obviously written by the clueless - absurd goal that wishful thinking will not achieve, They'd do better to offer a similar reward for a viable new fuel, or a distribution network for the same.
  12. It's the 4-headlight Silverado grille. And yes, those are fine-looking Chevies, really love that teal color in the last pic you posted. Inspection would not be an issue with the newer nose.
  13. Cheers for the suede survivor!
  14. True or not, all of that is beside the point. GM fumbled zeta from the start and utterly failed to use it to its potential. They then quickly abandoned it in favor of the then vaporware alpha, so we spend literally years waiting for "great things". They need to produce this time.
  15. Camaro being on zeta didn't do much for zeta itself...
  16. I saw this ad on-line yesterday, and it's a great ad! Ford needs to grow-up and shut-up, the ad is obviously just a good-humored jab and they should take it as such.
  17. Here's a shot of the new "pole base" (quite reasonable at under $20). I also tried to get a shot of the crack in the magnet of the main shaft, but it refused to focus. I'll update when the new shaft arrives.
  18. Given the track record...
  19. I've been looking at lots of these trucks (and likely Suburban donors), and finding that I'm a bit torn on updating from the 1988 style grille and detailing. I like the cleaner look of the 89-91s, but I already have a new GM grilles, headlight buckets, emblems, and some stainless trim. I also like the older style just fine. Stock, or upgraded/updated - that's the debate.
  20. The tailgate badge also said El Camino, and used to be connected to the bowtie that still remains - they commonly are snapped-off like this. The "350" badge on the tailgate is wrong for sure, as are whatever those badges on the lower front fenders are. If the rest of the car is actually rust-free, and not a bondo and paint special, then Z. is right that this could be pretty nice with some work. Still not worth $3,500 as it sits though.
  21. BS They need to make a plan, and then stick to it. Their volume assessments should be tied to architectures, not specific bodystyles. When looked at in that way, the myopic reliance on a single bodystyle becomes absurd. This is a problem of mindset, not reality. The Alpha is more than just a Cadillac. It is a Chevy and more than likely a Buick. Just because one coupe could be delayed does not mean there is not going to be an Alpha coupe. GM needs cars that show great profit. I love the CTS coupe to death and would love to have one. I want to see a ATS couple too but the the fact is even the CTS coupe sales are small compared to the sedan. I get excited to see a coupe as they are almost as rare as the wagon. Now CTSV sedans are a dime a dozen. GM needs to invest in products that bring earnings up to where they will bring the stock price up. Companies like GM are built on cars like Cruze, Malibu and the trucks/SUVs. The sooner GM pays off the bail out the better off they will be on Wall St and with the public. Besides I think the anouncement here is a little premature. Like I stated Motor Trend is often wrong so don't get too excited yet. I expect you will have a coupe at some point and it may be sooner than they are saying. You miss the point. It makes no sense at all to offer the same bodystyle on a plethora of architectures as compared to a variety of bodystyles on a few architectures. And I'll take that even farther, it makes no sense not to offer multiple bodystyles for a single nameplate rather than only having a choice of bodystyles spread over several architectures at the same brand. This goes double for Cadillac if they ever want to have a comparable range to fight BMW and MB with. So what if a variant doesn't sell in high numbers, the overall numbers for the nameplate will increase with each variant offered. This is a really basic concept, and a proven one, which we are talking about here. Waiting for sales results on a sedan prior to offering other variants is tantamount to intentionally missing the boat. I thought GM learned this lesson given what they have been saying about offering more bodystyles built on fewer architectures. But that only works if you actually do it, instead of just talking about it. If they waste Alpha the way they wasted Zeta, they deserve to suffer the consequences.
