New Opel Antara Targets European Growth Market
I like the interior but the exterior is really... meh. I hope it's not expensive as the 26k euros price would suggest.

Cadillac’s CLK Killer?
Who really knows if it's getting the Northstar, I doubt GM has even finalized it yet. This is great news, and it's unfortunate it's not coming sooner, but at least it's coming. I don't see why they couldn't just call it "CTS Coupe," it's not like the general buying public even knows what CTS stands for.

Edmunds Reviews Escalade
Maybe they're saving the granite trim for the Platinum Edition?

The next Impala. A bigger impact than Camaro
Good read. Hopefully the Impala rakes in the cash for GM. What sort of pricing are we looking at? Similar to Charger?

Spied: 2008 Chrysler Town & Country [update 11/21]
That looks rather crappy. It looks like a big block with the Magnum's roofline (but taller). Maybe GM will actually have a chance with the Lambda vans... too bad they're so far out.

BRAND NEW 04 SSR Found on a Dealer Lot!
The SSR probably isn't worth $30k once you drive it off the lot, but that's a pretty good price. How much is the GTO?

GM REVISES 1ST QUARTER 2006 EARNINGS
This is excellent news for GM, now hopefully this causes the market cap to rise. With the T900 Silverado and Sierra, GM will be making a lot of money in the 3rd and 4th quarters potentially.

Opel Astra confirmed as nex-gen Ion Rebadge!!
Already posted, so I'm going to close this thread.

2007 Vauxhall Antara official pics
Luckily the Saturn won't have the dumb V in the grill. It looks pretty good, I just hope all that black plastic isn't on every model. The interior looks good as well, though I'm guessing it will have GMNA radios.

GM plans to replace Saturn Ion with Opel car
I see no reason why we wouldn't get better engines than those in Mexico since the US market is much more competitive I think. By the end of 2007 I'm guessing it will have something with 250+HP, so the turbo Ecotec could be a possibility.

GM plans to replace Saturn Ion with Opel car
GM plans to replace Saturn Ion with Opel car Rebadged Astras will come to U.S. at end of 2007 Harald Hamprecht | Rick Kranz | Automotive News / May 8, 2006 General Motors plans to import rebadged Opel Astra compacts to replace the Ion at the bottom of Saturn's lineup. The imports, starting at the end of next year, will sticker at about $16,000 - approximately $3,500 above that of the 2006 Saturn Ion 2 sedan, Ion's base model. Ion production is scheduled to end in December. GM declined to comment. But sources within GM and its Opel subsidiary confirmed an outline of the plan. Last year GM sold 100,891 Ions. That car follows the S series, which sold 200,000-plus units from 1993 through 1999, peaking at 286,003 in 1994. The annual sales target for the Astra model will be considerably lower, ranging from 20,000 to 40,000 units. Saturn's version of the Astra probably will be assembled in Antwerp, Belgium. The name Astra may be used on the Saturn model. Importing Astras would fit GM's strategy of repositioning Saturn as a Europeanized brand. At the New York auto show last month, GM Vice Chairman Robert Lutz said nearly all Saturn vehicles will be based on vehicles from Adam Opel AG, GM's German subsidiary. ------------------------------- More (less important stuff) at link: Automotive News

Here comes the... Astra
Well, it looks like GM listened to us for once. The Astra will be imported by the end of 2007 to our shores to replace the ION. I don't know all the details yet, but more will be released tomorrow :AH-HA_wink: Discuss!

2006 Grand Prix GXP
Nice pics. It looks good and I really like the color. I think you should lower it about half an inch though to get rid of some of the wheel-well gap. Were you really going almost 100MPH at only 1k rpms, or did you like shift to neutral or something in that pic?

First Zeta hits the road in down under testing
There is a next-gen G6 planned, and it has codes.

2007 Yukon Denali Paint Problem
I'm not sure if the engine compartment is painted on most cars anyways, but I'm not sure. The doors should not be like that though. Call a different dealer about it.

New Corsa Uncovered
I also thought of Corsica, but I doubt many people would. Either way though, I don't much care for the "Corsa" name. When is the Corsa set to debut? I'd like to see the interior.

First Zeta hits the road in down under testing
But that's because many people didn't think it looked bold enough to be a GTO. If they brought the Commodore over here that looked great and called it G8 or Grand Prix, I don't think anyone would complain. I think we would have heard a lot less complaints about the GTO if it didn't carry the 'GTO' name.

New Hyundai Elantra
The interior looks like an Infiniti, but they didn't execute it very well, it looks like garbage, and I don't like the white/clear buttons a la the Avalon.

New Corsa Uncovered
This would be the perfect entry-level Saturn. Saturn would greatly benefit by having this, the next Astra, and then the Aura above them. It looks good, is economical, and would give Saturn something to sell before the ION replacement arrives. Bring it over GM!

NG Malibu
The Signum and Maxx are basically the same thing - extended sedans. The Signum doesn't offer any extra cargo-carrying capability vs. the Vectra unless you're putting something pretty long in it. The Signum may actually be less of a wagon than the Maxx except in styling. It's really a hatchback with the rear seat basically at the end of the car.

April 2006 Sales: Mercedes-Benz USA
Or plenty of people are switching to the new S-Class.

Crystal-Ball Gazing
Why couldn't they use LSx engines? If the Northstar fits in the STS I'm sure it could fit in a Buick Zeta.
-
Drive and Dump?
If it's something cheap I might get rid of it soon, but I'll be keeping the GTO for a while. I might get a beater or something for the winter, but I wouldn't keep it very long.

NG Malibu
Well, if GM could get some Accord and Camry buyers to come in, maybe they'd spread the word. It might not make a huge difference, but a few buyers here and a few buyers there, and pretty soon you have import owners telling fellow import owners how great their new Chevrolet is. However, it's going to take a couple generations of vehicles. GM is going to have to put the best or close to the best interior out there, or they will never gain any share back. If they don't they aren't giving themselves a chance to take share back.
