  1. Watching this video, the guy says it fills the gap between Jetta and IS/A3. For some reason I feel like they're going to have a hard time commanding a premium over the Cruze while attracting the young buyers who buy IS/A3 because they can go and tell their friends, "Dude I just picked up a LEXUS or AUDI." I guess it all depends on how it is priced. But right now I think GM is going to have a hard time pricing it so that it (a) doesn't step on the Cruze LTZ's toes and cause overlap there, and (b) isn't priced too closely to the Regal, in which case I think most buyers will choose the Regal.
  2. Ugh. It's basically a big Jetta. And I think the interior is a step backward from the current car and really resembles the pre-2006 interior.
  3. I don't think the Impala is a good comparison. First of all, since it's on the antiquated W-Body it's lighter than modern, heavier platforms. The Regal weighs more and is significantly smaller and has a 4 cylinder. So it's old platform skews its power/weight ratio and also makes it's handling somewhat "mushy" or soft and therefore not as "zippy." Our Civic feels plenty "zippy" around town because it is so light. It can zoom around corners pretty quickly is decently quick off the line.
  4. Because you can get RS on any trim, or at least on 1LT and 2LT as well. I think it's fine. Car names nowadays are usually pretty bizarre anyways.
  5. I still think it would be good for Buick to offer the bolstered seats and black/aluminum accent interior seen in the Astra. The dark interior still says "luxury" more than "sport luxury" to me. Hopefully it is offered at least on the 2.0T.
  6. The interior looks pretty good and I actually like the exterior on the sedan decently well. The front isn't great but the rest is fine. I'm interested in seeing how expensive this is compared to the Cruze. Could be a much better value and perhaps exactly what Chevy needs. The Cruze will be too much car for some looking for simply transportation (and too much money).
  7. Did you reset the mpg before getting on the highway? When we test drove a Cruze we got 36 MPG over a short stretch of highway.
  8. Hopefully the bolstered seats and the black with aluminum (or fake aluminum, whatever it is) as seen on the Astra is available on the Verano. That color combination (and the seats) would be much more attractive to your typical entry level Acura/Audi buyer, IMO.
  9. I really don't see the point of this car. It's a slightly nicer Cruze? For what price? Regal money? Then what's the point of the Regal? And it doesn't offer much better MPG than the Regal, so that's not a selling point either. So you either get the Cruze with better MPG or the Regal with more space. I don't think anyone would classify the Regal as "too big" either. I do like the front end of the Verano better than the Regal, but other than that I don't see how it's "better" in any area.
  10. My aunt has a basically loaded Terrain with the V6 and the GMC dealer has about half V6s, half I4s. Plus if you're going to spend like $32k on a vehicle, what's an extra $1500 or so to make sure you can get out of your own way?
  11. 2900 people bought Crosstours? I guess they do have like $3k on the hood (the local dealer does at least) but the thing is still atrocious.
  12. Where did I say that? Or perhaps it was not directed only at me, but the Cruze is fine if only the transmission was better. FWIW the Terrain and CR-V were both tested in MT in a comparo and had the same 0-60 time and 1/4 mile.
  13. Is the Equinox really quicker than the CR-V though? It weighs 350ish pounds more. But yes, it gets great MPGs and looks much better than most if not all of its competitors.
  14. Well, all of the ones I checked that had 2010 done were at least linked to C&G.
  15. Equinox/Terrain is ridiculous. 33k units? The 4 cylinder does fly off the lots here too, they don't even order V6s. When we drove it the 4 cylinder was slow as molasses, but apparently the majority of people don't care.
  16. We should maybe start a chart for the Cruze? Equinox would be good as well. I haven't eaten all day, need to get some lunch, but can do some more later if you think of others. I'm going to do the nox now, assuming it has a chart. Edit: looks like you got the nox already. I don't know how to make edits very well or I would create the section and chart for the Cruze. I literally had never done anything on Wiki before today.
  17. Just did Grand Cherokee. So Silverado and LaCrosse are the only ones we need? Edit: Looks like you got Silvy and LaX too.
  18. Challenger is done, Ram done, looks like you got 300 already. Charger doesn't have a chart at all. Looks like you got to the Wrangler already as well.
  19. Are the sales numbers out for Chrysler? I don't see them on their media site, but maybe that's not where they post them anymore.
  20. The Elantra's trump card on the Cruze is the price. I agree the Cruze is more refined and a bit nicer, but it's like $4k more than the Elantra if you get them both loaded up. When we were comparing the Cruze and Elantra, we would have picked the Elantra if not for the $3500 in GM card credits to make the prices comparable. Most buyers aren't going to have that.
  21. Well since we got the Civic anyways we are no longer in market for the Cruze. It just seems ridiculous that if you don't argue for them to not charge for the BS that even if they give you the car at invoice they're still making at least $1k on every vehicle when factoring the huge profit margin on the protection package and dealer holdback. But yes, that is very true about extended warranties. I was looking into Honda extended warranties and a lot of people on Edmunds have gotten ripped off, paying $2500 at their dealer for an extended warranty you can buy at any Honda dealer, and there are dealers that will give you quotes online. We can extend the warranty on ours to 110k and 5 more years for $900. My dad is going to call the local Honda dealer tomorrow (we did not buy the Civic there) and see what they will do on a warranty. I'm sure it will be some ridiculous amount like $2k, at which point we will call up the dealer that gives you quotes online.
  22. I thought I would see if this is a common practice at other dealers as well. When we were test driving vehicles, the Chevy/Cadillac dealer (and no one else) put a "protection package" on every single new vehicle they had. The package was basically some sort of scotch guard type application done to the interior, nitrogen in the tires, and the windows were etched with the VIN or whatever it is they do. Anyways, this package is $599, and it's on every f@#king vehicle. Really annoying to see a $20,800 Cruze bumped to $21,399, or even worse on an Cruze LS or Aveo. I can see putting it on $50,000 Cadillacs, but $599 on an $18000 Cruze LS is a price increase of 3.33%. Since we never got to the haggling point on the Cruze because we decided to get the Civic, it didn't matter, but I would demand that they eat that $599 (which probably costs them all of $100) and then give me a fair price as well if I ever bought a car there. And if I ordered a vehicle I would tell them not to put that crap on it. Anyways, anyone have dealers that do the same thing?
  23. GM would also be smart to give the Cruze a longer wheelbase. The Civic, despite being 4.3 inches shorter, has .6 inch longer wheelbase, and while the Cruze actually beats the Civic in pretty much every interior dimension, the Civic seems like it has more space. Perhaps that is due to it's longer wheelbase and also due to it's ridiculously short hood. I didn't notice it until it was sitting in the garage next to the GTO, but the engine compartment is just tiny. I believe reg said that the Cruze wastes a lot of space in its engine compartment. Perhaps Chevy should have sacrificed some form for more function. Not many people buy a compact car for style.
  24. Did you drive an LS? The dealer I drove the Cruzes at said the LS is pretty loud compared to the LT. I was interested if anyone agrees with their assessment since I did not drive an LS.
  25. I have to agree with this statement. It was the first car I decided to drive when the Maxx got totaled, and while it is quite nice it just has a few things little things that need to be fixed to be worth the price. Or $1500 or $2000 on the hood or simply a lower price by the same amount. If it was a better deal or didn't have easily fixable annoyances (the seat recline is the worst thing about any car I drove) then I may have decided that it was the car to buy and there was no reason to look elsewhere. Or even a good lease deal would be okay. The $320 for 39 months we were quoted on a $20,800 model means they anticipate that it will only be worth $8k after 39 months seems pretty bad compared to competitors.
