  1. Over the past week, since reading this thread, I've paid more attention to who's behind the wheel of the older LeSabres and PAs I've seen. Sure enough, quite a few are not the white haired folks you think you'd see. Also, the last two Lucerne CXS's I've seen have been driven by younger African-American men . . . . .
  2. I thought I read or heard somewhere that in a few years all cars will be required to have LED's. Does anyone know if that's true?
  3. Thanks for posting CXS in sagemist! Love it! That color is trendy now. Toyota and VW (Mercury too I think) are offering similar versions. I like GM's best as it seems a bit "brighter" than the others. Drive by a dealer's lot and that sagemist really pops out compared to all the grey/blue/beige/silver colors. I'm disappointed that BUICK dropped the blue/shale interior. There's not much difference between cocoa/cashmere and cocoa/shale. I'd rather have seen black/shale similar to LaX CXS.
  4. Sagemist is a really nice color in person, especially with the chrome wheels (don't they all look better with the chrome wheels?) local dealer says they can't keep them in stock, sell right away. Jury's still out on the Sandstone. It looks very different on a sunny day versus cloudy day. Looks rather muddy/dull on a cloudy day. IMO.
  5. Well that's what I get for smoking crack I checked under the 2006 Luxury package and it never included heated seats. So it looks like they only added the heated steering wheel to the Luxury package and moved heated washer fluid to the Confidence package . . .
  6. Saw my first 2007 LaX on the road this morning, a CXL with the new 17" 10 spoke wheel. What a difference nice wheels make!! BIG improvement. The car was silver so it wasn't one of the new colors Also, CARS.com has been updated for 2007 if you want to build your own. Just select any BUICK model on the main page and click build your new car button. When the page comes up it will be for 2006, so select the "Model" link where it says Change Vehicle . . . it will then prompt you to choose either 2006 or 2007 and go from there. One thing I noticed is that the Lucerne option packages have been revised. The heated washer fluid is now a part of the Driver Confidence package, no longer tied in with the heated/cooled seats. The Luxury package no longer includes heated seats, that is now bundled with the "cooled" feature. So that means in order to get heated seats, you also have to have cooled seats with the perforated leather. KA-CHING A heated steering wheel, however, is a part of the luxury package . . . go figure.
  7. I read through the article quickly again and it doesn't mention retail vs. fleet sales, so I would assume it does include fleet sales. But that also means the Charger/300 etc also includes fleet sales. I chose those nameplates as they had been in articles that the Lucerne was compared against. I see the Impala as a competitor to Accord/Camry, not Lucerne. Impala sold 30,716 in June Accord sold 32,587 Camry sold 41,427 Other Lucerne competitors could be: Crown Vic - 7204 Grand Marquis - 5132 DTS - 5879 S80 - 879 (not a typo) Any other thoughts on true competitors to Lucerne that I missed? Lucerne YTD 2006 = 47,123 Avalon YTD 2006 = 45,036 Montego YTD 2006 = 12,706 Crown Vic YTD 2006 = 36,110 Grand Marguis YTD 2006 = 33, 896 300 YTD 3006 = 73,135 Charger YTD 2006 = 59,005 Charger/Magnum YTD 2006 = 81,018 S80 YTD 2006 = 4311 LeSabre YTD 2005 = 46,361 Park Ave YTD 2005 = 1916 Lucerne 2006 YTD very close (but less than) combined LeSabre and Park Ave for 2005.
  8. Finally got to the July 10th edition of automotive news, which has the sales stats for June, and realized that Lucerne looks to have outsold the segment, depending how you define it. Too bad GM didn't hype that more. Lucerne - 10,690 Charger - 9710 300 - 9140 Five Hundred - 9089 Avalon - 6680 Azera - 2778 Montego - 1880
  9. I generally like the LaX interior. Just went to the NY Auto show and after sitting in competing vehicles, IMO the LaX is competitive. The leather is very supple. The door panels could use a little more 'style', but the quality is there. The center panel looks more integrated with the ebony/taupe interior. BTW, the BUICK area had a lot of interest and the Enclave is very elegant in person.
  10. Has anyone heard is this? http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...1024/LATESTNEWS

Try the Cars.com website. It seems accurate from what I can tell. As was mentioned, the heated seats are a part of the luxury package. The heated and cooled seats required the perforated leather upgrade (standard CXL leather is not perforated). On cars.com they do show that as extra cost for the upgrade. I agree regarding the special paint. The bright red in $495, the metallic white and sharkskin gray are $995. Why? Dealers in my area are stocking in those colors. I guess they expect people to pay the extra cost.
  12. I agree that BUICK needs a coupe. The last generation Riviera was aggressively styled, but was WAY TOO BIG and the interior execution was lacking. Something the size of the LaX would be great (not necessarily on that same platform). Does anyone know what changes are in store for LaX this fall? New grill? Reserve?
  13. I'm thinking this article contradicts what Lutz said during the GMTV interview regarding seating and the V8. I thought he said that the production version would seat 7 or at least would not have the center console in the rear and that although a V8 is possible in the future, there is currently not one that fits. Am I remembering right?
  14. Perhaps it's simply a Lucerne Super to coincide with the LaCrosee Super?
  15. Check out the 360 degree views. Back end looks more like Infiniti FX than VW Toureg.
  16. Autoweek now has actual pics posted, not the computer images. http://www.autoweek.com/files/specials/200...ve/pages/02.htm
  17. I'm pretty confident that the exterior of the Enclave will be sharp. Although the looks of the RDV have grown on me, it is an acquired taste and I'm sure the Enclave, based on the new architecture will look great. I'm more concerned about the interior. Will BUICK (GM) really step up and make the interior world class? There has been much discussion here over the LaX interior, and to a lesser extent, the Lucerne. Although much (MUCH) improved, I think there is a general feel that the Lucerne interior could have been a bit more . . . . without fault . . . something that really made us all swoon. Looking at the pics of the new Tahoe interior, I kinda feel that the Lucerne got short changed. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the Enclave. Does anyone know if the BUICK website will be updated with sneek peek pics before the show, like they did with LaX and Lucerne?
  18. Edmunds.com confirmed that the Enclave will debut at Detroit. Engines are 3.9 V6 and 5.3 V8 with DOD, 6speed AT. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=108643
  19. Per Automotive News, YTD 2005: Uplander - 68013 SV6 - 20922 Terraza - 18647 Relay - 15064 IMO, bagging all versions other than Chevy would not necessarily mean that Chevy would then sell 100K units. Folks are buying the other brands to differentiate themselves from their neighbors. There is a market for a BUICK van, done right. It may be blasphemy to BUICK geeks (myself included), but none-the-less . . . In southern New England I see a good number of Terrazas, second to Uplander. BTW, why isn't BUICK hyping up the Enclave at Detroit. A little buzz wouldn't hurt. Ford's already showing renderings of their Edge crossover. Come GM and BUICK, talk it up, build some excitement!
  20. Sorry, I was unimpressed with it. At least it was well-lit and you could actually see the car. It did show the tuxedo blue/shale interior and it looked good . . . but only us buick-geeks would notice :)
  21. I am totally unimpressed with the execution of beyond precision. The dream up concept wasn't perfect but at least the tune was catchy and you knew it was a BUICK commercial without looking. The commercials were somewhat clever too. The new commercials leave me TOTALLY cold. They look black and white (I guess they are black & white) and the millimeter commercial is not only not very flattering to the looks of the Lucerne, it is TOO DARK. The snow flake commercial would be more significant if the heated washer fluid was standard on the Lucerne. It's only available on the CXL when you opt for the upgraded leather and heated/cooled seats. It may be standard on CXS only. In our current world people need something that catches their attention quickly and not bury them in detail. Sound bites. That's all people want now. These new commercials are too wordy, blah-blah-blah, and not very eye catching. You see every detail of the snow flake, but the car itself is shot at odd angles in a washed out look. A silver car, shot at a distance, covered with snow in a black and white commercial. What a great idea  The other commercial has a black or navy lucerne in a dark tunnel  At least the new website looks cool, although that's colorless too . . . .
  22. I'd have to go back and double check this, but I think for NOV 05 the LaX outsold the Century/Regal AND LaX combined in NOV 04 . . . .
  23. Stopped by my local BUICK dealer this weekend. Parked out front, by the road, was a CXS in Sharkskin (black interior). Looked really sharp. Then I went around the corner and my jaw dropped. Black CXS with the chrome wheels. Looked really HOT! Got to get me one of those . . . .
  24. I will preface this post with: I AM GUILTY OF THIS TOO. What has to happen, if we don't want BUICK to go the way of OLDS is to BUY a BUICK! We all read the posts and letters on this forum and others of the CAMARO and FBIRD fans who moaned and complained when GM cancelled them . . . but they were all driving 10 yr old FBODIES . . . when was the last time they bought a new one? My parents are in their 70's and 3 yrs ago I lease an Accord for them. Well it's almost up and I'm trying to work a deal on a RDV for them. The added step in height is better for my dad, if that wasn't the case I'd try to get them in a LaX. My Accord lease is up next fall and I'm seriously considering the LaX CXS (Super?). At the dealer, the Lucerne was in the showroom, CXL V6, Ming Blue/Grey and it was sharp. Reminded me of big BUICKS from my youth (I'm 44), nice looking bodies with sporty wheels. BUICK needs to do their part and make continual improvements/refinements to the LaX and Lucerne. Unlike the Century/Regal that didn't change for 9 yrs. The RDV has been tweaked every yr and has remained successful and appealing. The interior on the new one is really nice especially with the wood wheel and trim.
