  1. Did Studebaker have an iconic hood ornament? That might be more appropriate.
  2. H2s were just a Yukon in Hummer clothing. The Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban were just noted for being the longest lasting SUVs on the road and also having the highest average mileage AND also having the most vehicle or there with over 200k miles. Not saying the situation you mentioned isn't happening, but it is certainly the exception. The Escalade's downfall for off-roading is entirely the wheels and tires. It's as capable as any other full size SUV except it's wearing 22s and summer tires usually.
  3. I wish they wouldn't do that with "Classic". Come up with a new way to market the old truck. It's targeting work truck buyers right? Call it the Ram 1500 Steel Toe... then when they finally move those trucks to the new model, the new model can get the Steel Tow name.
  4. Keeping in mind that the tastes for what consituted luxury have changed in the past 40 years... it use to be about ultimate quiet and comfort compared to the hard seats and pumped in engine noises you get today.... this is the cushmobile that Cubi is referring to above.
  5. If you ever go to a car cruise, look for a mid-70s to mid-80s Oldsmobile Buick Cadillac Chrysler Lincoln, etc from the higher ends of the range (not a Cutlass, but a Toronado or Ninety Eight) You'll see the difference compared to the nylon denim they put in cars today.
  6. Garbage cloth is garbage. The old luxury cloth seats from up until about 1990 were great. The cloth I have in my Toronado is leagues better than any cloth you can get today.
  7. It doesn't seem like "The Best or Nothing" either... GLS and all below it come with Pleather seats standard.
  8. I love it! "It's so retro!"
  9. That's less than I paid for my Encore lease. I get the Honda back from the body shop today (had a bad hinge replaced) and then it's getting cleaned up and going on Craigslist and Auto Trader.
  10. Drugs are bad m'kay? I have no recollection of posting that. I was looking at the thread because the price interested me. I don't think I even used that phrase this morning to anyone.
  11. I can put that one to bed right now. We have multiple autonomous vehicle companies working here in Pittsburgh. Both Uber and Argo AI have R&D centers here, Google is up to something here with AD, and Carnegie Mellon University was one of the first to get a fully autonomous system functioning. I've ridden with one of the Argo engineers. This picture of an Argo AI Ford Fusion was not taken by me... but it could have been. It is the intersection where my office in downtown is. There is a reason they use exclusively Fusion Hybrids and Volvo XC90 Hybrids... it's not for fuel efficiency. Plug-In Hybrids are the only vehicles with enough electrical reserve to run all of the electronics required for fully autonomous driving. That's why GM went with a self-driving Bolt and not a self-driving Cruze. The autonomous developers want bigger capacity batteries just as much as everyone else.
  12. An absolutely Immaculate first generation Dodge Dynasty. Very likely with the original owner behind the wheel. Grandpa was making *ahem* excellent time! It did not have a V6 badge on it so that means it was the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder and a Chrysler 3-speed automatic praying the rosary at that speed over the mountains outside Altoona. I also found a mostly intact white '84/'85 Toronado in a scrapyard with the same color interior as mine but full leather... AND the leather is near perfect! I will be placing phone calls tomorrow. There are a bunch of parts I'd like to snatch. I'll have some pics from that scrap yard to post later, some shots that might interest @balthazar

  14. It's not fast, but it's not Encore slow either. With the 9 speed auto it will be okay for the target audience.
  15. Size? weight? difference for difference sake? GM product planners don't talk to each other? Makes no sense to me either. The 2.5 is not a great choice for this vehicle or the Acadia.
  16. Na, they'd have to use TrailBlazer. Just like they need to use Electra for any electric Buick.
