I'd then ask, what makes a chassis "advanced"? All it needs to be is stiff and light. Suspension tuning will take care of the rest for whichever way you want it to go.

The thing is, Lincoln isn't even going for sporty. Which is fine. There is a dearth of soft riding cars on the market right now for those of us who like them.
-
Can you give me the next powerball numbers too? The EClass is not some great handler...its big and heavy and soft... Which is absolutely fine for the demographic who buys it.

they're not going to design a Euro market car with MPH gauges.... in English. Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed that. Would be a little strange to test a Euro model E-Class on California highway 38 near Big Bear. Not really, all of the manufacturers test all over the world for all market cars. I've spotted the Hyundai Genesis testing in Pittsburgh before it was released. GM will regularly take cars to Norway for cold weather testing and VW brings cars to Death Valley for hot weather testing. Euro market Benz's use a symbol for the parking brake... but because Americans are too dumb (in general) to understand the dashboard symbols.. or to even go look it up in the manual if they don't know what it means.... Mercedes spells it out for them on the American cars.

I wish they had compared cars that were more similarly equipped

That is exactly what I wanted to say...but I figured I did not want to waste my energy trying to explain what the Phaeton was/is...This car debuted in 2002...You know...13 years have passed...if people havent learned what this car was all about in 13 years, there is no sense in me wasting my time and energy trying to teach. I was ignorant about this car in 2002. I hated it. I hated VW for it. But sometime between 2002 and 2015, I read up on it and learned about it and soon, my hatred disappeared at the same rate as my ignorance... For what the Phaeton can do and was engineered to do, I respect it. I admire them as cars, and as a big lux sedan lover, I've looked into them on the used market. However, I cannot get around the extremely expensive care and feeding of them... even by German Uber Sedan standards.

It was all just the price. Had they priced it in the mid-50s it probably would have sold decent enough to have a second generation.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I wouldn't be surprised to see a Turbo-4 in a truck before then. A Turbo 2.5 or 2.9 liter 4-cylinder would move a Silverado along just fine. The 2.0T can make 295 lb-ft of torque, a 2.5T would make 368 lb-ft and a 2.9 would make 427 lb-ft.... just extrapolating from the 2.0T, and it would make it over a broad RPM range. They'd probably have to build it with some sort of dual spool small turbo/large turbo setup to prevent lag.... but it's completely doable. -
.... based on what? They have been profitable. They have a truck that lots of people want. And they seem to be taking extra care to make sure that the new engine launches properly.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade
Drew Dowdell replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
6.6 liters and only making 600 hp? That's fairy lame these days. Cadillac makes 640 hp from 6.2 liters, 4 fewer cylinders, and 32 fewer valves..... oh and the sounds it makes... -
That's not the interior you get for $50k.... particularly since the new E-class will start around $54k..... that isn't even the $54k interior.... and then to even get real leather instead of vinyl seats in your $54k car you'll need to spend at minimum $1,600 more.

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade

The CTS moved from 3-series price to 5-series price and lost two thirds of its bodystyles, yet you can't see a reason for volume decreases. Average transaction prices for the entire brand are up $7k per unit and higher than BMW on a model for model comparison. Maybe you need flashcards? -
Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade

The GLS they just released is a marginal refresh plus a name change. And oh please, Cadillac could have rebadged an S Class and you still would have bitched about it. -
I really like that interior!

Cadillac News: Cadillac Faces A Conundrum With the Escalade

It's funny how 0.3 seconds is "similar performance" when the Mercedes is behind, ....I'll remember that every time you post about a Cadillac 0-60. I've driven the diesel GL and it has a scary amount of turbo lag.... and I do mean it actually scared me when I tried to make a left turn in traffic and got no response from the engine room. -
The 1.4 in the Encore is tamed somewhat by the active noise cancellation that comes standard in all Encores. There is a big difference in noise compared to the Trax. Yes, the AWD in the Encore is pretty efficient, but on the other side of the coin is how well the Encore's AWD system performs in the bad stuff. In that regard, it has one of the best AWD systems outside of a Subaru as it always starts in 50/50 front/rear 4-Wheel Drive and then dials back to FWD once the car decides the coast is clear. I can get up my steep driveway in unshoveled snow. But you don't need to take just my word for it. Over at Cars.com, the Encore got out of snow better than a Jeep Cherokee.

Nissan offering fleet incentive of $8,000 on the purchase of Leafs.
Drew Dowdell replied to G. David Felt's topic in Nissan
Indeed, but in this case, the discussion over the really cheap prices on the Leaf. If you could really grab one for $11k - $12k, it would make an excellent low cost EV as a second car for most folks who fit this type of commuting profile. The Bolt will cost 3 times that.
