  2. Depends on what he was doing with it.
  3. Here's what I found on Barrett-Jackson.
  4. I've been looking at comfortable, cheap SUVs that I won't mind putting a ton of miles on due to a job duties change that is starting in 2015. I'll be driving back and forth between Pittsburgh and NJ twice a month... So I was looking at Rainiers and 9-7x since they can be had for cheap and some of them come with rear air suspension. (I've also been looking at MB GL350 CDIs with airmatic too.... because I'm a masochist apparently) In the process I found this: 2004 Buick Rainier GNX Prototype They claim it is a one-off that was sold at Barrett Jackson when GM went into Bankruptcy. It has a supercharged V8 (5.3??), Borla exhaust, and AWD. I can't seem to find any information on it and there are very few pictures in the listing. Does anyone remember seeing/hearing about this before? I may ask them if I can stop by and do a story on it the next time I'm in NJ if it is still there... I'm also going to contact some people at Buick to see if they have any info on it.
  5. very very very true.... I'm not even sure what the slogan for any of the divisions besides GMC are..... GMC is still Professional Grade right?
  6. Welcome. We'll be gearing up for the auto show season soon, so lots of posts coming.
  7. Did someone shake the Baja bush? They've been around here everywhere the past few days.
  8. What you say makes me wonder a lot of things about Alpha that we were promised. The big selling point for Alpha was that it was supposed to be very light and highly flexible, sizing up to the CTS or down to a sub-ATS coupe. And while not as inexpensive as Zeta due to the materials used, it would have been less expensive to build an Alpha Chevy sedan in the States than it is to build a Zeta sedan in AU at high labor rates / poor exchange rates / high shipping costs. So is there something about Alpha that wasn't quite up to what was promised that is preventing an Alpha Chevy sedan from being built in the US? Or is it just that Buick might get one, plus Camaro, plus more Caddies, and there isn't the production capacity here for it (Springhill is full flex, no?) As for livery XTS, those could be built at Kansas City... it's not like Lacrosse and Malibu are lighting up the sales charts at the moment.... even if they had to move Regal there too, KC could probably handle it all.
  9. I'm not sure I would call them overlooked... they just got here. Many people don't even know they exist.
  10. When is the XTS going away though? Though as Ford and Toyota clearly demonstrate, the drive-line of the production car has little to do with what Nascar runs.
  11. That's a good buy at that price. I wonder if they are clearing out inventory ahead of the new model that is coming very soon.
  12. Cadillac can do this for China and the middle east.
  13. This was the Chrysler 300. It goes back as far as the Sonata, but the trunk is deeper in height so luggage could stand up on the narrow end, making for an easy fit.
  14. Battery. Couldn't get full size luggage in long way. It would have been fine for 2 of us... not for 4.
  15. I like the Mazda as well. Mazdas with Skyactive tend to do really well on their highway MPG... better than EPA rating.
  16. Truth... When I was in San Francisco in September with my friends from Germany. The only choices at the National Car rental lot were Sonata, Sonata Hybrid, and Altima and a 200C (I didn't go there, I knew it would never work space wise). My friends wanted the Hybrid because they're greenies, but we simply couldn't fit all of our luggage in the trunk. The week prior we had a Chrysler 300 and everything fit fine. We ended up in a standard Sonata and had to sit on the trunk to make things fit. The passenger cabin of the new Sonata feels like any other mid-size except in rear seat leg room, where it feels full size.
  17. Aside from the durability concerns, I'd prefer a K900 any day of the week over an LS. If I was just leasing for 24 months, Kia's long term reliability wouldn't be my problem. I do believe Cadillac is shooting for the moon with this one. They have made some great strides on their interiors. The CTS interior is above the 5-series, GS, Q... whatever and A6 fairly easily. I think CUE and some shared interior hardware puts it a bit behind E-class, but not by much.
  18. The very first thing I'm going to look at when I get in this car in April is the door handles and the window switches.
  19. Likely much slower to Rev than a conventional engine limiting it to the role of a regenerater
  20. According to Chris Doane who has seen the camo prototype in person, it's bigger than the S Class.
  21. I was going to say the same thing, but I didn't have anything to back it up. It is just a feeling I have. The CT6 feels like it was once going to be the be all end all for Cadillac, but now I feel like it is going to be step 1 in an all new surge.
