Its a GIZMO for the DUFLUNKY that makes that THING WORK!-------You know the WHATCHAMACALLIT!
-
Drop the 2.8L version in the U.S. market and make the 300HP DI 3.6L V6 the base Engine domesticly. Then do a 360+HP Northstar V8 as a NON V opt and offer Coupe/Conv/Wagon version's the Cpe with a opt 6SP manual with eather Engine. And then do a 500HP version of the STS V's NS V8 in the CTS V.
-
I would like to see the Northstar V8 get a little larger and have AT LEAST 400HP with normal asperation. This would not just CETCH-UP with the competitors but BEAT THEM! Why should the STANDARD OF THE WORLD FOLLOW the others when they could BLOW THEM AWAY! I agree "Intrigued" that they need to get MORE POWER out of the NS V8's but WHY JUST COMPETE with 360-380HP when they could do 400HP and BEAT EVERYONE to that #? The others will be there soon enough witch is why I in the past pushed for the LS2 to be used as a NS replacement. But others thought that the CLAIMED SUPERIOR DOHC 4VPC NS was MORE ADVANCED and better for a luxury car. With the reworked DI 3.6L HFV6 going to 300 or so horsepower why not take the NS up to 5.0L's and offer DOD and a nice even--CLASS LEADING 400HP?

I would LOVE to see a RWD V6-V8 2+2 CAMARO Coupe/Conv $17K-$27K----then a larger----RWD V6-V8 2+3 CHEVELLE Coupe $22K-$32K to go with the IMPALLA Sedan. Let the RWD POWERFULL LUXURY COUPE go to PONTIAC with the 450+HP V8 ONLY $35+K GTO and let the CHEVELLE replace the (((MURDERED))) DUE TO (((FWD))) MONTE CARLO!
-
I agree! The use of the 2.8L V6 in the CTS is silly. There is NO NEED for this base Engine in that car with the G35 and others out there with NO SMALLER BASE ENGINE! Sure use it in the SAAB models with MORE TURBO POWER like 300 or so. And while there at it make the Northstar opt in the next gen CTS and standard in the STS!
-
I see your point on cost difference but there are many tuners who are getting ALOT more power out of the BASE VETTE with its BASE SUSPENSION/BREAKS SETUP then the Z06 offers. I dont see a problem there with 75 or so more HP and 80 or so more FT,LB of Torque. And the cost would be only that of an ENGINE OPTION and not the differing ALUMINUM FRAME/BIGGER BREAKS ECT. I think there is room for a THREE LEVEL VETTE LINEUP and the 427 CORVETTE middel model.
-
Why not offer the LS7 in a detuned form as an option on the base steal framed VETTE positioned between the LS2 and the Z06 models. It could be called the 427 CORVETTE like the historical ones even though its actually 428CI's. With 475 or so HP and the heaver steal frame in NON Z06 spec it would differ enough from that HIGH PERFORMANCE model in both cost and performance. This is something I WOULD LOVE TO SEE! A new 475HP 427 NEW GEN CAMARO to go with it!

((AMEN!)) Thankyou Newbiewar! Thankyou for your support and some releaf from this ((PMS LIKE HISSYFIT!))----GUYS IT WAS ONLY A QUESTION! The AVEO IS NOT A TRUE CHEVY NOMATTER WHAT THEY CALL IT!!
-
The STATESMAN would be a large Sedan like the AUSIES HOLDEN LWB model. I like the name Statesman but I LOVE the name ((ROADMASTER!)) OH WELL!
-
GEO means "around the globe" witch is a GREAT NAME for an internationally built product. I think its a MORE TRUTHFULL name then the ALL AMERICAN SOUNDING CHEVROLET! GEO WORKED and THEY SHOULD BRING IT BACK for the TOTALLY NON DOMESTIC AVEO model and MANY POSSIBLE OTHERS!
-
GOOD POINT!
-
It seems to me that the AVEO should be called a GEO NOT a CHEVY! If they were to bring back the sub Chevy brand they could make a STRIPER COBALT the base Chevy model. Then they could do the AVEO line as a GEO and bring over other GM+GM partner Asian/European small cars/SUV's/Crossovers in the restored Chevy sub brand. The new FIAT GRANDE PUNTO would make a GREAT NEW GEO METRO being that it is built on a GM of Europe platform. And with its opt Diesel power it could be VERY EFFICENT. The SUZUKI VERONA could be a NEW GEO PRIZM and there are MANY OTHERS they could choose from for the CHEVY MINI BRAND!

A more streamlined TOASTER! But still a (TOASTER!)

I dont think the SB V8 with a DOHC 4VPC head conversion would be a problem size wise. Shure it would be LARGER then the OHV version but the short block of the SB is really compact BY DESIGN! And with vairious sizes around today--4.8L-5.3L and 6.0L-7.0L the POSSIBLE VARIATIONS are ENDLESS. Like the 4.8L DOHC 4VPC version could be a BUICK only Engine while the DC 4VPC 5.3 could be a CADDY only Engine. GM could RETURN to BRAND SPECIFIC Engine types WITH BRAND SPECIFIC VALVE ACTUATION TO BOOT! Chevy/Pontiac OHV 3.5L-3.9L OHV V6's--4.8L-5.3L-6.0L OHV V8's. Buick DOHC 4VPC 3.6L V6--DOHC 4VPC 4.8L V8. Caddy DOHC 4VPC (VVT) 3.8L V6--DOHC 4VPC (VVT) 5.3L V8-WITH-a V specific DOHC 4VPC (VVT) 6.0L V8! And I dont think GM intended for the NS V8 to be UNDERPOWERED because all they had was a FWD platform. Shure that was a BAD LIMITATION I agree but the NS for several YEARS was one of the MOST POWERFULL STANDARD LUXURY CLASS V8's! Remember when the NS first came out what we now call the E class MB opt V8 put out only 275 or so HP. As did the BMW 5 series opt V8 and others. NO Caddy needs to be the STANDARD OF THE WORLD AGAIN (((NOT))) the FOLLOWER! And with the seeming DEATH of the ULTRA V8 PROGRAM and GM's $$$$ problems I think this idea could be a GREAT THING!-------------------------PS. Sorry for the LOOOOOOOONG post. Alot to cover.

Why not build new 4VPC,DOHC,VVT,DI heads and intake for the 4.8/5.3/6.0L SB V8 to use as a replacement for the Northstar line? We know the SB V8 can be had with an Aluminum Block and the tooling is allready there. They could use the DOHC version's as a MORE PREMIUM Caddy ect. version of the SB V8's while useing the OHV ones for Chevy/Pontiac ect. They could even use the DOHC ones as EXCLUSIVE GMC/Caddy Engines in the HIGHER END Trucks/SUV's. That way ALL GASOLINE GM V8's could be SB based in the SHORT BLOCK but different in the HEADS/INTAKE ect. I could see a Caddy optional--CTS/standard--STS with a DOHC 4VPC VVT DI 325CI 5.3L 375+HP V8. I could allso see some DOHC 4VPC VVT DI 364CI 6.0L 475+HP CTS V/STS V versions. I could see the RETURN of the ZR1 VETTE with a HIGH OUTPUT DOHC 7.0L 575HP V8! The NS V8 is NOT ENOUGH TODAY with 380HP V8 BMW's and 370HP V8 MB's running around. So GM could BEAT their COMPETITORS with little effert while COMBINING their V8 PROGRAMS together to save COST!------WHY NOT?

VW with their 15 degree now 10 degree narrow angle V6's wanted to offer a V6 in several of their models that were built to handel I4's only. Becides extensive modification to the platforms of these models to allow them to use say an AUDI V6 they decided to design a new line of Engines. Its a smart move on their part really when you think about it. To bad there weight distribution LIKE MOST OTHER FWD CARS is SO HORRABLE! Then they WENT OVERBOARD with their GERMAN OVERENGINEARING with the SO CALLED but MISSLEADINGLY NAMED W line of Engines! (W) would make you think its got 2 crank shafts even though it DOES NOT!

CHEVELLE BABY!!-----Not likely for us YET!-----But HERES HOPEING!

I think those #'s will get BETTER in the REAL WORLD then 29mpg highway with this tech! I would expect it to be BETTER then the 3.5L even with the difference in gearing.

I would guess (3.9L 240HP V6 base)--(5.3L 320HP V8 opt RS)--(6.0L 400+HP V8 SS).---------I would HOPE FOR (3.9L 3VPC 270HP base)--(5.3L 350HP V8 opt RS)--(6.0L 450+HP Z28)--(7.0L 525HP V8 SS)!
