If the torque curve is closer to being flat then it makes a big difference- 2011 Buick Regal CXL: $26,995
Guess GM chose to tune it more for mpg than for hp.- Word Association
- The C&G Curse
Yep. It feels kinda ridiculous, but at the same time it was 1h30 in the morning, I had spent the whole week away on business and still had gone to the mine in the South of Portugal for some work before heading back to Lisbon... guess my brain just wasn't working at that moment...- The C&G Curse
So I'm coming back from the mines last night at 1h30 in the morning. I press open the garage door opener, turn the car into the garage, think "this is gonna be tight" (the car is not the MINI but an old VW Passat company car) and suddenly this scratching sound....... rear left fender scratched at the wheel well area... an expensive trip this will be, and what pisses me off is that it's the same f@#king turn I do every single day when I get home...- Word Association

- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)The CTS along with the whole Cadillac lineup has been a failure (although Kroyman's collapse did not help). Cadillac will have a 20 or 30 year uphill battle to establish itself over here, and the only chance of becoming successful is to consistently offer products that are and feel better than the competition offers. No, we just buy on quality, prestige and brand equity. Cadillac at this point in time has none here in Europe. We admire the old excessive 1950's 1960's Cadillacs, but we know they belong on that era. Nowadays, nothing much of interest comes out of Cadillac, at least not in terms of people thinking it's worthy of abandoning Audi/BMW/Mercedes.- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept

- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I read that too and it is the bit of info regarding the production XTS that makes me fear that the production version will end up being a miss... I don't think the XTS concept is a bad design at all, but your chop on Zeta wheelbase/proportions looks way better.- NEXT SATURN SKY?
If you think current French cars rust away after 3 years, then- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Read that too... strikes me as odd, so I hope someone at C&D misunderstood what those GM insiders meant.- Word Association
- Holden Statesman may become Chevy
Great. An example from GM's worst overlapping product era... I am equally curious and nervous as to how the GM portfolio will develop over the next few years.- Holden Statesman may become Chevy
Chevrolet and luxury car in the same sentence is just weird. Brands need focus.- NEXT SATURN SKY?
I hope you're being sarcastic, because otherwise you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about.- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)Me neither, it would be a waste of money.- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)GM will not invest in Sigma anymore. Probably a fairly smart move as Alpha can cover the smaller RWD car segments and Zeta or, better, a lightened version of Zeta can eventually cover or the larger RWD segments... Then there's always the chance GM will abandon any hopes of having a car aimed squarely at the S-Class/7-Series/A8, and will offer this XTS until the DTS/STS customer base, i.e. those who want a not-so-edgy Cadillac, dies off.- Detroit 2010: Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept
ZL-1 replied to vonVeezelsnider's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)I definitely like the interior, hope it's not dumbed down much for production. As fas as the exterior goes, I'm undecided: part of my brain says 'yes', part of my brain says 'no' as perhaps the styling theme/cues would work better on a Zeta-based car. As far as mechanics, I don't care one bit if it's plug-in hybrid or not as long as Cadillac gives consumers a valid reason to buy this thing over a LaCrosse. EDIT - And I hope we see enough of this 'Platinum' stuff. Offer fully contented vehicles as your value offer. It's much more fittng of the Cadillac name to say 'we offer value by delivering on equipment' than to say 'look this costs 15K less than than a BMW, Audi or MB'. Do that consistently, and in time you gain pricing power.- Word Association
