Same can be said about Buick and Cadillac 5 years ago. Maybe GM should have a wakeup call? Any tarnished name can be revived in the eyes of the public with cars people actually like! No matter how tarnished the name is. Although it'd have to be a very good looking vehicle and be able to compete with the top competition.

It would take decades of superior product, marketing, and advertising to even BEGIN to change the perception of Saturn in the marketplace in order to have it appeal to people shoppin VW, Volvo, and Acura.In all seriousness, it didn't take decades for Cadillac to turn around in people's minds which shows that GOOD cars actually DO sale. You could turn around anyone's perception with style + not being mediocore.

Yeah the people who buy them like them, what about everyone who wouldn't be caught dead in one? Which are teens/young adults. The Aura isn't going to change that or the sky. Their image is just as bad as Buick's if not worse! I'd say it's just as bad a Mercury's image, which is probably the worst and most people forgot about them. If Buick just built the NICE cars that they had they wouldn't have a bad image, but they didn't, they built the weak cars with no "soul".

That's not true!! Who said they can't make an exciting car that isn't comfortable? They could easily make a car that was big/exciting/comfortable that appealed to everyone if they tried. It's not that hard. If it's stylish and powerful it'll appeal to your age group and if it's comfortable and roomy it'll appeal to older people.

That senario sucks! Buick should be upscale, and saturn should be cheap affordable econo cars, not expensive. And so was Cadillac 5 years ago, or are you forgetting about that? Saturn has a WORSE image than Pontiac/Buick in the minds of teenagers/young adults. Atleast that's what I've noticed. I always hear, "I don't care about cars, heck I drive a saturn...".

Yeah, Pontiac got three mediocore products and fourth on the way. Buick has gotten two boring cars and one good one coming in the future, IF they execute it well in the production version.

So basically he's saying they can't make a Firebird without looking the same? They have no skill or means to make a firebird that isn't different looking?

Since when did they announce the G5 would be badge engineered? Who said it wouldn't be different, unlike the pursuit?

But wouldn't that save them money? Aren't they losing money on every vehicle the sale?

I don't quite understand everything, but if Dephi did strike, then why can't GM just cease all operations untill they get a new supplier? Why would they have to pay money if nothing was happening?

Darn. They should have been looking for a new supplier when Delphi was going down the crapper...

So is a mustang and a challenger. They'll lose lots of sales to those two, because they'd be out earlier and lots of people can't afford two new cars in a couple of years.

The salesmen should point out the lower price on it and say there's no need for a rebate... Well if they're smart, which I doubt.

By then the mustang will probably be redesigned and look even better than the current mustang and new camaro if it goes into production. GM loses again. They should have had a better plan than this. They should have had a plan incase people DID rave over it instead of showing the concept and waiting to see if people accepted it.

If this is true, they might aswell not build it. It will be a flop. Too late and should be around the redesign for the mustang. No one will want a 5 year old car, it'll be boring by then. If a Camaro comes out in 2010, they might aswell scrap the design and work on something new. They've really screwed up releasing a concept in 2006 and releasing it near 2011. They should have waited to unveil it or something... But that's if it's true, I don't really believe this.

A turbocharged, direct injection, 260hp RSX ass kicking Pontiac G5 GXP coupe is the only trim they should have for the G5, imo. No regular versions, please!

Why GXP? Why can't the G5 base model be a performance model like the Cobalt SS? It would make it less of a clone and make pontiac look more like the performance division instead of the econo division.

It'll steal some sales, that's expected from anything new to the market. Even if a new truck comes out by some brand that no one's ever heard of and it sucks, it'll still steal some sales. I think the truck market will soon be overly saturated like the car market is today...

Then it will fail. If they can't make it cheap, they might as well not make it.

The fit/finish isn't something to complain about either. I've seen one and you can't really say anything bad about it. If you complain because there are some cars that are better at that, then you shouldn't be driving(that wasn't aimed at you, btw).
