What vehicle is this?
And let's not forget the Monza Towne Coupe. I had forgot about this car. It's not bad looking.

Oldsmobile Photos
This is a 1950 Olds custom. It has to be one of the nicest I've seen.

Oldsmobile Photos
I posted this '48 Olds because I was so struck how modern the dash seems for the era. A beautiful car and equally beautiful interior.

new elcamino
Since I live in a jurisdiction that doesn't require front licence plates, I cleaned it up a bit.

LaCrosse with portholes
All Buicks should have portholes. It is an iconic symbol of Buicks. Never again should there be a naked Buick. It's just wrong.

2006 British International Motor Show
2006 British International Motor Show London show wows with world debuts By JULIAN RENDELL AutoWeek | Published 07/25/06, 1:01 pm et -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturn desperately needs a good small car, but it won’t be based on the European-built Corsa hatchback from General Motors’ Vauxhall subsidiary. That was the word from the recent British International Motor Show in London, where the global launch of the all-new Corsa was backed by a high-powered visit from GM headquarters by CEO Rick Wagoner and vice chairman Bob Lutz. GM product czar Lutz said the new Corsa wasn’t engineered with the United States market in mind, so it won’t pass crash tests: “It would take two years and be too expensive, so we’ll wait until the next generation,” says Lutz. That’s the car being engineered in Korea by a joint Daewoo/Opel team; it won’t be in the market for five years “at the earliest,” Lutz says. Lutz also took pains to point out that GM already has a top seller in the U.S. small-car market with the Korean-built Chevrolet Aveo. “Other carmakers, like Toyota, have been forced to follow us, but they get the credit,” he chided. Wagoner faced the press with questions about the Renault-Nissan alliance, just days after his dinner meeting with Carlos Ghosn: “If it makes value for GM shareholders, we’ll do it.”

Classic Buicks
GMman, that is one stunning example of the '70 GS.

Volkswagenwerk
You guys articulate it so well. It was even little things like the front windshield close in.....I love that. And when VW would make annual changes they were not huge but effective...like say, the tail lights would be made larger...incremental improvements...not wholesale changes. Or when you closed the doors it would suck at your eardrums....so airtight.

Perfectly said. I couldn't agree more.

New Tag Line
Rumour has it that the new Cadillac ad campaign will use the tag line: 'Life, Liberty and the Pursuit'

Aura hits the pages of Motor Trend
The whole plastic wood thing in Saturn interiors just leaves me cold. It seems to go against the new image they are trying convey. When I saw all that hideous fake wood in the Outlook, I just couldn't believe my eyes.

LOL Blu. Balthazar and Blu, I believe so strongly that there is a market for a new millenium 'Beetle'. I wouldn't even want it to be too stylish....just simple design, simple construction and I don't care if it's slow. Of course a convertible version would sex it up a bit. I tell you here, now, I would be first in line for such a car. I don't know how many here have been in or driven a minimalist, elemental car, it makes you feel more part of the vehicle...not so pampered, not so cushioned from the real world. It's a wonderful feeling. You feel more alive. As much as I like many new hi-tech cars much of that connection with the machine is disappearing. The closest new vehicle that still has some of this feeling may be the Jeep Wrangler, with the doors off and the windshield dropped down.

Word is that the 'Tiburon' will continue on with the same engines.

Volkswagenwerk
I loved it's basic goodness. I wish someone would again build a car like the pure simplicity of the VW Beetle...no power windows, no air conditioning, no power anything, just a speedometer and gas gauge....and build it with utmost quality. That sort of thing Germans used to be so good at.

It was 60 years ago last Friday that the first VW Beetles were delivered to dealerships. Service bulletin from the early beginnings.

Your opinion about the Chevrolet Uplander
I mentioned this subject in another thread. The Saturn in particular is very disappointing in it's quality. I helped someone take a look at these and while checking it out...pulled on the back seat release, it just busted off. Premature rust on brandnew Relays on the lot. Strange dents occuring top of sliding door. This does not look good for GM. Saturn Relays are not selling well and these kind of quality issues seals their fate.

GM also won Gold for Factory Quality for 2006 at the Canadian Oshawa plant 2.

There is so much good about GM and they just don't get enough applause from the media and general public. Honda and Toyota just seem to have a vice grip on peoples perceptions.
