  2. Hey BV that's pretty respectable for that kind of car, although I'm sure you could get better if you didn't drive the car quite as harshly as you do, kinda like how if I didn't drive me like I do I could get better mileage. I consider anything over 20 to be doing well.
  3. Yeah, but its an Escape.....I don't classify it as a true SUV...
  4. pop tart
  5. I have to admit sometimes the dealerships want to push you into a car that you just feel really oppressed by it, kinda how I got suckered into my Impala, don't get me wrong, I love the car, its reliable, gets good mileage and looks good, but I got screwed on the price.
  6. I'm getting a little tired of this. I know that Friedman dislikes GM with a passion, but I'm getting really sick of this. I don't ever notice the GM badge unless I'm up close and personal looking at a vehicle. I don't mind them at all, and like dart said, if you don't like it, then peel it off. I do miss the GM badge being on the keys, but I understand that it would get kinda confusing to have a bunch of keys that all have GM stamped on them if you have multiple GM vehicles.
  7. that's why you use Elmer's School Glue on clear plastic pieces, no smudges and doesn't fog the clear plastic up. I've run into that where I can't decide on a color to paint a car, but normally after about two coats, you start to obliterate details, so its best to find a color and paint it that, and leave it that way.
  8. I'll put it this way. My truck started it life as a farm truck and construction worker's struck. Its now a show truck/daily driver. My next truck will replace my Impala as a daily driver, I plan on buying a bed mounted tool box to place my tools in as I am a mechanic and parts guy in my life. And since everyone else is getting rid of their trucks in my family, I'll need it for when my wife and I move. And of course since I'm getting a truck again, i'll be buying the required accessories (boat, jet skis, utility trailer, ect) so I can take care of the hauling.
  9. Now that's something I enjoy reading. That's like I have a friend of mine with a brand spanking new Camry (butt-ugly, but he likes it), he's had it for about a month now and averages about 23 mpg in real-world mileage. Meanwhile my five year old, 117000 mile Impala steadily gets 26-32 depending on how "spirited" my driving is. I'm sorry, but if my car still gets its advertised mileage after the miles it has on it, I'll take my nice domestic car with its reliable 3.8L V6 and "trunk big enough to hide a family of mexicans in it".
  10. Two and three. The biggest thing is I normally paint the body of the car with either a spray can or airbrush. The actual other parts, I hand paint very carefully, which normally invovles me painting my fingers a whole lot too, but that's beside the point. If I can't hold the part in my hand, i use a pair of tweezers to hold the part. After paint, its let it dry, use very sparing amounts of glue and press them together. Actually one thing I've got is a HUGE assembly pad that I put down on the table and its got all sorts of tips and tricks for building and painting the models, and some good ideas for details.
  11. the bearing plate actually normally comes out along with the strut when you replace it, so yes, replacing it along with the strut is quite easy. The rubber boot really serves no great purpose, except to keep dust and dirt out, so you don't necessarily have to replace it, but it can be replaced also. I've got to get the strut mounts (and struts) replaced on the front of my Impala and the hardest thing for me to do is get a strut spring compressor to smush the springs down so I can remove the strut from everything else. As far as the rear struts, if you can tell me what year your Regal is and I can get into a service manual for one and write down the removal procedure and post it on here (oh the joys of being a parts guy with access to this stuff)....
  12. All right, comparitevly speaking here, the Northstar engine seems to have done very well in its over ten year span of running, we all know it has problems, but in today's market for the newest, shiniest thing, I wouldn't mind seeing the Northstar as an engine moved into Buick, and into rear wheel drive applications and give Caddy a completely knew DOHC engine based upon what they learned from the Northstar and using the most advanced technology on it possible to make it a real class killer.
  13. Its always possible, but with the new model year coming up, there's a strong possibility that it won't, but you never know. My biggest complaint is that once again, its the "deal" that's selling the car instead of the car selling itself.
  14. call of nature
  15. I voted LCD simply because all the LCD tvs that I've seen are really sharp and look good IMHO better than a plasma tv, although with advancing technologies, I suspect we'll soon we holographic tv's before too awful long.
  16. Interesting yes, considering it looks in relatively good condition (as in it has a majority of its parts)
  17. I had a good one, too bad I'm still up right now waiting on my wife to come back home from seeing Superman Returns, I have to be up to go to work in 7 hours...
  18. Think crushed beer can....
  19. Yeah it will knight, it certainly will.
  20. I think that the Scion was meant to be a bathroom.....cause it certainly looks like $h!.... Oh yeah, good point Siegen, how are they going to handle the recalls of a house?!
  21. My wife and some of her girlfriends have gone to see it, haven't come back yet though, just how long is the movie?
  22. well it can't be much more than reverse, but then again, i dunno.
  23. eh, I was thinking more along the lines of the '73-'87 Chevy Suburbans with a 454
  24. I'll bet you do, I've noticed that some of the dealerships around here are continuing the deal till the 5th.
