  1. One of my classmates in college had an '84 318i. That car was completely gutless.
  2. I usually get Skippy creamy because that's what I grew up on, but I also like Peter Pan. I've never really had Jif though.
  3. Great ideas. Here's another idea...we could have a section for GM future developments or platforms that could be updated on a regular basis. Sometimes it's hard to keep track of what car is going on what platform, when it will be on sale, etc. Edit: I just realized we have a link to a page TED has compiled with all GM products sorted by vehicle code, but it would be nice to see it laid out in a more visual format with data in tables for each vehicle or platform (however it is easiest to organize), images, and maybe even our own C&G rendered speculation. Sort of like our own GM product wiki page. The challenge would be to collect all the data, compile it into an organized fashion, and keep it updated on a regular basis. GMI has its own future product guide, but I think we could improve upon what they have done.
  4. One thing I noticed over the last year (especially after Fly disappeared) is that C&G seemed to be late breaking when it came to news vs. GMI and even BON sometimes, and traditions like posting sales figures as soon as they were released kind of faded away for a time. I'm not criticizing because I know we all have lives, running a website is a large undertaking, and a lot of the news over the last year was downright depressing, but I'm hoping that with GM emerging from bankruptcy and the talk of new products will bring some of that activity back that we used to have. As far as GMI, I'm glad C&G isn't as big as GMI. I remember when GMI was much smaller and more of a tight-knit community, but it has grown to the point where a lot of the posts seem to be about quantity instead of quality. I haven't browsed there much lately, but when I did a while back I felt like the level of discussion was a quite few notches below what we have here at C&G.
  5. I was thinking the same thing...it needs something to break up the monotony about 3/4 of the way through. The harmonies toward the beginning of it were really good though.
  6. http://www.aliceinchains.com/home.html#/home Only one song is available to listen to right now, but I like what I hear. I wasn't quite sure at first with the new vocalist, but after hearing him I think he's a good fit to follow in the footsteps of the late Layne Staley. The album Black Gives Way to Blue will be released September 28.
  7. As much as I liked driving it, the '94 Lumina was the worst I have owned out of 3. My '90 Lumina only needed a new water pump and muffler during the 3 years I drove it @ between 150-200K miles, but the '94 was feasting on my checking account the last year or so. Between 120-150K miles, it needed a new water pump, new head gasket, new hoses, two new rear rotors & brakes (after warping the previous ones), and new rear struts all in the span of a year and a few months. Also, the turn signal indicator was starting to go bad and I had a freon leak that was severe enough to deplete all the freon less than a week after getting it recharged. KBB said it was worth about $800, but I sunk about $2000 into it over that span of time.
  8. I used some Duplicolor touch up paint on a few rock chips a few days ago and as I was doing it I noticed the brush that comes with it isn't that great. It's too large and it made it hard to get the paint evened out. I did my best and thought maybe it would even out as the paint dried, but it came out looking like crap. I tried applying some clear coat over top hoping that might help, but it really didn't do much either. What would you guys recommend doing to fix this if it's possible? Do I need to find a small sandblock and re-do it, or is there a polish that could help even it out?
  9. Here's a better pic comparing the Motorcraft (left) to Purolater Pure One (middle) and Purolater Premium Plus (right). Here's another great oil filter comparo with nearly every brand on the market http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters/reference.html
  10. Yep, I did a little googling and it looks to be made by Puralator with a slightly different filter element that is spec'd by Ford for longer life. It looks to be a pretty good filter. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbth...;Number=1521446
  11. I always used Fram on the Lumina, but I've started using Motorcraft for the LS. Too bad they didn't slice that one open...I'd be interested to see how it compares since they are $10.
  12. http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ..._articleid=1265 Josh never ran the website did he? His duties as a moderator back in the day were shared with other mods from what I understood. It seems like he's taking all the credit for building up C&G, when in reality it was many people that helped grow this website.
  13. I liked the M45's body more It's ok, but the design is too busy, the front fascia is not very attractive, and I don't like the BMW M-series-like flappy ground effects. Now that I think about it, this is the vibe I'm getting from the front
  14. 1. Lincoln (I've always liked how the Mark interior wraps around the driver, even though materials aren't the best) 2. Lexus 3. Cadillac 4. LHS 5. BMW 6. Mercedes I'm not digging either of the Germans' interiors at all.
  15. This is one of the most interesting links / threads I have read in a long time. Very awesome stuff.
  16. I would be happy just spending a day at the proving ground test driving all types of GM cars, old and new with Lutz riding shotgun. Also, if they had any Olds memorabilia gathering dust in a storage room, I'd gladly take it off their hands for free.
  17. My 401K is up 6% overall as of last quarter, and my stock portfolio is up 78% since I started buying last summer.
  18. One thing that threw me off were the front fender and how it came to a sharp angle like you mentioned earlier. If you google 1917 REO, some scale models and a couple pictures come up but the front fender curves in and the body seems to be more refined. But then I found this picture, also labeled as a 1917 REO ...and it looks to be the same vehicle as the earlier picture. At first I thought the people in this photo may have replaced the fender and running boards, but perhaps this was a base model.
  19. Yep, they do...it's huge for a city of Helena's size (about 35K).
  20. This will be the last set, even though I have plenty more Oil derrick Nevada City, MT Peanut, a shy little dog at the Glocca Morra Hotel & Bar in Sweetgrass, MT Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park Storms building north of Billings O Canada! 21. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZE, with some light editing in Photoshop for a few of them
  22. Virginia City, MT Butte Robber's Roost Historical Point, MT Deadwood, South Dakota Sheridan, WY - the building beyond was an old Ford-Lincoln-Mercury-Comet dealership Reeder's Alley, Helena Scenic overlook between Great Falls and Helena Great Falls, MT My Auntie Pat's old house near Coutts, AB, empty ever since she moved to Vancouver in the 40's Milk River, AB
  23. I went to Montana and Alberta for a week over the July 4th holiday and took 6 gigs worth of pictures. The last time I was in Montana was 1997, so it had been a while and I had forgotten how wide open some parts of the state are. There is so little humidity that an 85 degree day felt really nice compared to back here. I was in Great Falls most of the time because my grandma used to live there and my grandpa was stationed at Malmstrom AFB in the 50's (called Great Falls AFB at the time). We also passed through Helena, Butte, Billings, Bozeman, Virginia City, and Nevada City. Also, we took a day trip across the border to Writing-On-Stone provincial park near Milk River, AB, and saw the house where one of my relatives used to live near Coutts. My grandma was a little dismayed because they stopped making some Canadian brand of toffee that she always used to get there...apparently people stocked up on this stuff before it was discontinued. Helena was a clean, pleasant little city that I wouldn't mind living in someday after I retire. Butte was also interesting because much of the historic building stock is still there. Walking through there is like going back to the turn of the century. Also, I would highly recommend visiting Nevada City if you are ever in Montana. It is a collection of stores and homes from Montana's pioneer days that were moved to the site of the ghost town of Nevada City. Everything there is as it was...the buildings and the items inside are 100% authentic, much like they were just pulled out of time capsule. There is also a music hall with 100+ year old player pianos that you can start up by inserting some change. It's amazing how intricate and loud they were in a time before amplifiers! It was by far the most interesting thing there. State Capitol in Helena Devil's Tower, Wyoming Billings, Montana's largest city Train station at the historical village in Hardin, Montana Fetterman Battlefield near Story, WY - site of a massacre by the Sioux Tribe in 1866 Train near Raynesford, MT Helena, Montana Hotel Finley, Butte Berkeley Mine in Butte, the largest open pit mine in the world Early 1900s homes perched on the hillsides of Butte
  24. Or curb feelers and fuzzy dice.
