Even more twisted is that this banner was posted on the victim's myspace page back in February: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endID=108390479 I personally think it's ridiculous the RCMP waited hours negotiating with the killer, giving him time to cut up the body further and even eat parts of it. Get in there, put a gun to his head, subdue the guy, and slap some handcuffs on him.

I almost ate at a Bennigan's last summer, but my friend wanted to eat somewhere else at the last second. I wonder if Bennigan's inspired the restaurant "Shenaniganz" from the movie Waiting.

Yes! That's it. It was kinda strange seeing it up here, I wonder if someone had it imported or if they immigrated here. Either way, it was interesting to see but it looks dated compared to everything else on the road...I thought it was from the late 90s, turns out GM started building them in 2003.

I was driving home after work today when I saw an odd-looking car/truck waiting to pull out into traffic. In profile, it looked like a Holden Ute except shorter. It looked like it was from the 90s. As I drove by, I saw it had a Chevrolet badge with a ring around the bowtie. Anybody know what this could be? Something from a Latin American market?

A show meant for pre-school and elementary school kids with an obvious slant against General Motors. http://www.pbs.org/wrenchturns/video/5

Alright, I tried Sonic tonight (last time I had it was probably 15+ years ago)....and it was kind of a letdown. They put the burgers in a foil bag, which makes them both really hot and kinda soggy. I also got a side of cheese fries and both the fries and the cheese were pretty bland. My ranking of favorite fast food burger joints: 1. Culver's 2. A&W (very hit and miss though; the older, family-owned stores are usually superior to the ones in gas stations) 3. Dairy Queen (depends on the franchise) 4. Hardee's 5. Steak N' Shake 6. Wendy's 7. McDonald's (used to be worse than BK, but their burgers have improved the last few years) 8. Burger King 9. Sonic 10. B-Bops (another drive-in, atmosphere is cool, but the food is mediocre) For sit-down burgers, Red Robin and Fuddrucker's are really great places to go.

There's a couple drive-ins left in my state, but most are long gone. My hometown had one but it was torn down around the time I was born. I honestly can't recall if I've ever been to a drive-in movie...if I had, it would've been when I was too young to remember.

All this talk of Culver's made me want it for lunch today, and I am sitting here with a tasty double cheeseburger basket. Culver's has to be one of the Top 3 burger chains in the country. Their fries are so-so (I'm not really a fan of krinkle cut fries), but the butterburgers are some of the best burgers I've ever had.

Culver's, A&W, and Steak n' Shake are some of my favorites. I haven't been to a Sonic in years, but I should go again...last time I had it was when we lived in Kansas many years ago. Here in CR, one of the last vintage A&W drive-ins was lost in the flood and won't be re-opening. It was mom and pop owned; kinda sad to see it go.

MAN, I'm PUMPED! I cannot wait 'til September! -
Thanks for the tip on the 1099....I had no idea what that was an had to look it up... Do you have to fill out a 1099 every year even if you haven't pulled any money out of your account?

It doesn't seem that bad...it's only $10 a trade. I went with the basic plan since it's free and I probably won't be a hardcore investor. I also looked at Scott Trade, but you have to invest $500 minimum to open an account. Ameritrade was the same price as ShareBuilder, and E-trade was a couple bucks more.

The Lumina has been averaging 23 mpg when I'm doing mostly highway driving, and mostly city driving I've been getting about 19. Not very great, but my commute to work is so short that I only have to fill up every three weeks.

Well, I'm definitely looking to go long with Ford; I'm not a short player. What are some good, cheap stocks that have a lot of potential for growth? The tech sector was on fire about a year ago but like everything else, it seems to have cooled with the rest of the market. I've read that GE has a lot of potential for growth if wind energy takes off, but I'm not sure I'm ready to invest $42/share or whatever it was at this point.

I bought 50 shares of Ford today @ $5.10, my first trade in the stock market. After the yesterday's earnings tumble (F lost about $.90) and the Ford's outlook the next couple years, I feel like it's a pretty solid investment. I'm planning on buying more soon, and hopefully some GM in a few months after I have some time to watch it. I went through ShareBuilder.com and it's pretty easy to use considering I have no previous experience with stock markets. Does anyone else hold any automotive stock? Or just stock in general?

Yeah, I thought that Rock Band comment was pretty cool coming from someone his age. I'm old enough that I never really understood the appeal of Rock Band or Guitar Hero, especially when picking up a real guitar is so much more fun. I've played both games a couple times before, but compared to the real thing...it's just a toy.

Anymore, I don't think there is really a difference between the two parties. Sure, they both have different social agendas, but no matter which party is elected to office they only pander to lobbyists and business interests. We Americans and our apathy have let the parties and our leaders get lazy; as the government gets larger and spends more frivolously, the USA's prosperity sags and the national debt skyrockets. Look at all the programs and departments created under the Bush Administration alone. It's part of the reason I liked Ron Paul so much...sure he had some pretty radical, off-the-wall stuff, but I think that's what we need to right the ship or at least shake up the bureaucracy. The government needs its own GM/Ford-style restructuring....cut the fat and infuse cash where it's badly needed, like infrastructure and education.

This thread was aimed more on the economic side of it, but economics and politics tend to go hand-in-hand. I think most here are mature enough to handle a topic such as this.

I don't think so. I read every comment at Autoblog, and only one person seemed to like the design. Acura has been losing relevancy in the market for years; I think they have just made a fatal mistake with this and the RL.

Nice ride! I'm hoping to pick me up one of these later this year if my finances allow it.

Letting a relationship slide, then realizing later she was one of the better things that had happened to me. But, life moves on...I try not to dwell in the past too much.

I think my bank will be fine (it's a state bank with seven local branches). It weathered the farm crisis and savings-and-loan of the late 80s / early 90s (only one bank in town failed, Conservative Bank, and it was bought out shortly after by Commercial Federal) and unlike the other banks in town, has survived being bought out by national banks. We haven't seen the rapid growth that other parts of the country have, and Iowa's economy tends to see stable increases rather than huge rollercoasters. At work, you would never know the national economy is near the point of recession because we have so many new projects coming in right now. It's just too bad so many people are short-sighted and don't know how to responsibly manage money. I grew up in a household where my parents (dad mostly) charged everything to credit cards, and sometimes money would be kind of tight growing up. For that reason, I rarely ever use my credit card (I've used it three times in the last 5 years, all for car repairs) and only spend money on something when I have it. The only debt I have to my name are my Iowa State loans, which will be paid off in about 10 years.
