  1. 8000+ for the Mustang is still a great number considering the economy and the car's age. I wouldn't start worrying about the Mustang until sales get below 5000 a month. The Mustang has had worse years in the past...I believe they only sold 80,000 in 1991. Ford's numbers aren't pretty, but it was expected anyway. Stock prices actually went up today despite the news.
  2. Fun fact I learned in my history of engineering class...Henry Ford bought his a wife a 1912 Detroit Electric since gasoline cars at the time were not seen as socially acceptable for a woman due to the noise and smell.
  3. Plymouth Gran Fury Ford LTD
  4. These slipping oil prices bode well for automotive stocks. Ford is up nearly 5% today, and GM is up 7%.

    My Humps

It was a youtube clip linked from another forum. But yes, O'Reilly is a buffoon.
  6. Glad to hear your wife is ok and the damage wasn't too bad! I swear, maybe C&G needs to have a collective seance or something because this curse just ain't going away!

    My Humps

Yeah, this song is the posterchild of why big name R&B / hip hop of this millennium totally sucks ass. The edginess has been replaced with idiotic cliches. I was watching something on YouTube where a rapper named Camron was on the O'Reilly factor with a principal of an inner-city elementary school who argued that music like Camron's does nothing but enforce negative stereotypes and influence kids to value the wrong things. The principal annihilated Camron and his producer, who did a poor job forming any sort of counter-argument. I think this is pretty indicative of 95% of hip hop today...no real values or meaning, just a bunch of eye candy and rehashed cliches.

    Susie

I used to love this movie as a kid. This clip reminds me a lot of the Susie story.

That was a blast from the past! It's been years since I've seen that little clip...I think I was maybe 5 or 6 when I last saw it, but it was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I can't remember where I would've seen it though. My mom is a teacher, so I wonder if she had a VHS taped of it.
  10. Sorry, but I don't find cars attractive that look like the mini vacuum cleaner we used to own 15 years ago. Styling is all a matter of opinion, but show these two pictures to anyone without telling them what they are and I bet 90% favor the Volt.
  11. If this is Pontiac's future, what a disappointment. At the very least, I'd hope GM would retain the Pontiac spirit even if it was in a bunch of front-drivers with turbos. Considering GM's track record lately, I'm not expecting anything more than Chevy rebadges. I'm convinced that GM has no plan and is just flying by the seat of their pants. They have shown the Roger Smith-era mindset is still alive and well within the corporation. Chevy, Pontiac, and Saturn all competing with the same basic products and price points...nothing has changed. And because of the total lack of foresight the last few years, they have no money to do anything radical even if they wanted to.
  12. I'm pretty sure he said it was leather. My dad has a '99 LeSabre Custom with leather too...I don't think I've ever seen one without. Was the Custom a low-end model or something?
  13. Tonight my friend called me up asking me some car advice. He drives a black 2002 Taurus SES with 65K miles and was offered a great deal on an '04 LeSabre Custom. The LeSabre only has 25K miles and is excellent shape; my honest opinion with him was that if you can get past the stigma these cars had, you'll be getting a larger, more powerful car with an excellent track record for reliability. I told him about the 3800 getting about 29 mpg on the highway, which is more than his Taurus gets. He's also a pretty tall guy (6'9"), and the Taurus is a little cramped for him. When he first called saying he was looking at trading in for a different car, I never expected him to mention a Buick LeSabre...I was awaiting dreaded Camry / Accord / Altima etc. advice. And he said even the styling isn't that bad to him...in his words, it's the type of car you'd see someone in a suit driving. This is coming from a 24 year old who is pretty image conscious. Overall, it was kind of a surprise to me. He's not a car guy at all, either.

Man, that game was addicting. I'd waste entire days playing it when I was in junior high. I kinda wish they would do a new version with better graphics...I always liked the idea of being able to fly around my Sim Cities. I also had Streets of SimCity...didn't have nearly the staying power with me that SimCopter had though, mostly b/c the car physics were horrible and that game was rampant with bugs.

    WHEELS

I generally like ones that look solid rather than the spidery type ones moltar posted. Kinda like the one on balthazar's sig. I like most of what Cragar has and some American Racing styles. In general, I don't like overly large or overly flashy wheels. If I never had anything over 19", I'd be fine with it. Some styles I like: Wheels like this just look bad and take away from the vehicle

I don't really play online games, although there was this really addicting one that was a simple flash animation where you flew a helicopter through obstacles in the sky...I forgot what it is called. Years ago when I was in high school, I loved playing Midtown Madness 1 multiplayer at the MSN Gaming Zone. It's one of the few PC multiplayer games I played, and I'd spend hours playing cops and robbers with my downloaded Mustangs, Monte Carlos, and Trans Ams. I'm kinda sad Microsoft petered out on the Midtown Madness series...the third edition wasn't even released for PC. It was a great game.
  17. I'm currently in the process of saving up for a new desktop, so the one I have now is my 5 year old Compaq desktop (my faster, newer Dell laptop has been dead for 1/2 a year) Compaq Presario (2004 model) 2.4 Ghz Celeron 512 MB RAM 160 GB hard drive (plus two 750 GB external hard drives that I put all my music and pictures on) NVIDIA GeForce graphics card (not sure on the specifics)
  18. Wow, I love the greenhouse and the taillights. Very cool. I almost wish it had a longer hood...something about this design looks like it would translate well on a larger car, such as an Impala.
  19. In 1997 I was 13 and my mom drove a 1993 Mercury Villager while my dad drove a 1990 Lumina Euro (before it was given to me). I remember that was the summer that Grand Forks, ND had a massive flood that covered most of the town. The first McDonald's opened in my hometown and gas was about $1 per gallon. We used to always fill up at Dean's Texaco (before it was BP) down the street where my dad would usually buy me a soft serve vanilla ice cream cone. No Doubt's "Tragic Kingdom" was huge at the time, as was Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie..." and "The Freshman" by the Verve Pipe. Lots of high school kids were still driving around in RWD cars so you could hear squealing tires echo around the Square on a Friday night. People cruised all night long, and it was ok because 15 bucks would nearly fill up your tank. Man, how times have changed.

    1975

One loooong Buick Along with the Coupe DeVille, I've always really liked mid-70s Eldorados Along with the Mark IV These old Imperials were gorgeous boats...I love the waterfall

    1975

Never really have been a fan of the '73-75 Cutlasses. I don't like the creases on the sides nor the dual round headlights, I generally don't like the styling of a lot of vehicles that came out in '74-'75. Most cars donned dual round headlights that looked dopey next to rectangular, gaping grilles. The new quad rectangular headlights that started coming out en masse around 1976 gave cars a fresher and crisper look (see the '75 Eldorado, '76 Cutlass, '77 Trans Am, etc).
  22. Practicality is the last thing I want in my car at this point in my life. Coupe for me.
  23. Congrats on the new car Reg! I got to this thread too late, but I remembered you talking about looking at Tauruses and Edges a while back. You'll have to test out the acceleration and see how the Duratec 35 compares to the old 3.0. Looking forward to your driving impressions!
  24. Happy birthday to a fellow hair metal guru!
  25. Yep, I heard it on the radio today too...I rarely ever listen to radio anymore, but I tuned in just for this! Here is the song on YouTube: Pretty good! I can't wait to hear the rest! Supposedly this is the downbeat song on the album.
