  1. They should try the coupe in very limited numbers, in an SS type model, with appropriate performance, bigger tires/rims, etc.
  2. So the Impala LS now gets the old SS grille... wow, big change... I have an '06 Impala SS that I love, but I'm ready for a new car -- it'll be interesting to see what the new LT and LTZ look like -- Hopefully they do something with the rear deck, including round taillights --- never was a fan of those triangular lights that looked like so many other cars -- Some interior upgrades wouldn't hurt, either...
  3. I can't wait to see the full reveal --- hope the rear end doesn't look too big... Also hope the powertrain offerings will give the car good performance... The current 2.4 is OK, but just barely --
  4. New Impala powertrain? How bout a new Impala? Seriously... GM has been taking way too long in re-doing this car!
  5. Well, let's take a trip down the Chevrolet memory lane -- Bel Air Biscayne Del Rey Deluxe Chevette Chevelle Monza Berlinetta Cameo Celebrity Concours I think that Chevette or Celebrity would be great for the Cruze -- Chevelle would be too large and sporty for an econobox....
  6. Let the pickups and SUV's go for awhile longer --- they'll sell at current levels as long as gas prices don't go crazy -- What GM needs to do is focus like a laser beam on CARS -- especially on the upcoming Cruze and Volt, and on replacements for the Malibu and especially Impala. If what I hear is right, and the Cruze has another crummy, powerless GM engine in it, that's a disaster in the making. I hate to say this but Ford is on the right track with the Focus, Fusion and Taurus, and GM needs Chevy models to properly compete. It should be almost all about Chevy now for awhile. Buick has its new models coming, Caddy probably needs a new DTS, but not much else.
  7. Well, I own an '06 Impala SS -- before this car, I had an '03 Cadillac Deville -- I like the size of the Impala, and I love the power of the V8 -- At the time, it was a nice update of the '00 Impala, and while the SS isn't exactly a sport sedan in the tradition of the Impalas of old, it's still a fine car, and offers great value for the price. It could be a little quieter inside, and the suspension could be a bit tighter, but other than that, I really enjoy driving it. I like the new Malibu, too, but I need something just a little bigger. I hope GM doesn't wait too long before putting a new Impala on the road. The next one better have 6 round taillights!! Mine only has 30K miles on it, and is in showroom condition (white exterior, gray leather interior, woodgrain dash trim; I had the windows tinted and added some very cool silver pinstriping along the beltline), so I can wait for another couple of years before I have to replace it, but I want to replace it with another Chevy of the same size, not with a smaller Malibu.
  8. Put a Malibu nose on this, and 3 round taillights per side on the trunk, like the '65 Impala (larger maybe), and get this into the American market in 2010.... What the hell is GM thinking by not letting us have this Chevy here in the States? This is the new Impala we want and need NOW!!
  9. I think a Malibu coupe or convertible would sell well, and not take away from the new Camaro, but I could be wrong; I'm all for a completely new Impala, but given all of GM's troubles now, I figured that the best way to get an updated Impala would be to freshen the current one.
  10. The fastest way for Chevrolet to gain market share would be to: 1. Expedite getting the Cruze into the domestic market; 2. Get a hot looking coupe and/or convertible Malibu out; 3. Do SOMETHING with the Impala NOW, even if its just new front and rear clips. Impala is their largest selling car, so why is it taking so long to replace or even re-fresh it??
  11. Pics of the current model are all over.. wikipedia under Cadillac One or Presidential Limo --- I'd paste them here if i knew how ---- The current car is a bit lower to the ground, and has a true DTS front end clip and rear end treatment -- it looks like a Cadillac. This new one does not look like a traditional Cadillac vehicle (which it isn't, come to think of it). I just think the current one looks better.
  12. Ugh, not much of a fan; maybe it will grow on me, but right now I think the current DTS based Cadillac One is much better looking; it looks like a car, not some parts-bin half Escalade, half STS amalgam... Also, the wheels totally suck; they couldnt use some nice 20 inch starburst type Escalade wheels? Seriously, this thing is butt-ugly. I'm all in favor of removing all hints of the Bush administration, but this just does not do it for me at all. Actually, now that I think about it, Joe Biden will probably get the current DTS model, so he'll have a nicer car than his boss...
  13. Well this really sucks for the next generation Impala then --- what do I replace my 06 Impala SS with - a new Malibu? I don't think so.... GM should dump the G8 and make that the next Impala, at least as a stop-gap for a few years. Seriously, this is terrible news for future full-sized GM sedans, and especially bad for Chevrolet, which now has a very dated flagship model. I might have to look at a new Lacrosse or buy a slightly used DTS now...

    09 models

Well, I hope that they are working on a new Impala, or at least a freshened version of the current one. It wouldn't take too much of an effort to make the current Impala look a lot better, even tho I love my '06 SS that I have now. New Malibu/Traverse-like front clip, round taillights, just a bit more sound deadening, bolster the seats a bit, maybe revise the dash just a little to cut down on the daytime glare on the radio, and that would do it for a few more years, until a totally new model is ready. This is a great car that needs to have some attention paid to it by Chevrolet. I'll be ready for a new one in '09 or '10, and I sure don't want to choose between an Impala that is in it's fourth year of production, or something totally new from another GM division, like the new CTS.
  15. Well, I really like it, though I do have a couple of comments -- The front of the vehicle looks great, though I would like to see the hoodline and headlights slope down just a bit more, and I really wish that they would incorporate some license plate holder into the bottom of the grille area; otherwise they are going to do what they've done to the Impala and Malibu, which is to bolt on those ugly black license plate holders to the lower grille and totally interrupt the sleek nature of the car. The side view is awesome; very sleek, and you can tell from the 3rd row window that the Traverse is a bit longer than the other Lambdas... I love the shoulder flares just below the 3rd row window. The tailgate needs just a little tweaking; I would add another taillight to both sides, a la the Impalas of old, and I would increase the size of the taillights by about 25 or maybe 50 percent; then I would move that gold bowtie down, just below the creaseline of the tailgate, so that it could lay flat rather than at an angle as it is now. I think these suggestions would do wonders to improve the appearance of the tailgate. The interior is beautiful, but I hope they offer a wood trim package, which would look great, especially in the cashmere interior; the metal/chrome/whatever stuff they are using on the dash just doesn't look so hot. For those of us who expected this to be just a Malibu grille slapped onto an otherwise re-badged Outlook, this new Traverse is outstanding. I'm even getting used to the name, though it's not one of my all-time favorites. If any of you phtotochop guys want to play around with my tailgate suggestions, I'd love to see how it looks. Well done, Chevy and GM!!
