  1. A 4-cyl is unlikely for US-market LaCrosses. BPG dealers will have the G6 (and Alpha?) to cover the economy market. There will be no further 5-speed autos from GM. The new 6-speeds are no costlier than a 5-speed, and only capacity issues will prevent faster roll-out.
  2. Note Aura continues until 2012, but a new Saturn EII arrives in '09 with the LaCrosse.
  3. LGR product is obviously a different vehicle, not the Traverse replacement.
  4. STS/DTS replacement Lucerne
  5. I wouldn't assume that either the Gamma notchback or Alpha will replace either the Cobalt or G5 in the lineup, just at the Lordstown plant, if this is correct. The Gamma notchback would be the Aveo, the Alpha most probably a G6 replacement.
  6. The Versa comparison is made because, with the demise of the Focus hatch (which was smaller) it's one of the few compact hatchbacks on the market (along with the Rabbit), and because it too is available with a 1.8 L engine.
  7. In their hearts they know… …when you need a truck, you need a Chevy.
  8. … an unaddressed postcard so some of them get forwarded on. In fact someone here should make one up with the caption, and "[bowtie]Chevrolet Silverado" in the corner for people to email.
  9. GM should buy this photo and send it as a postcard to everyone in the USA and Canada, with an appropriate caption.
  10. a little double entendre.
  11. When you need to haul s—, you need a Chevy.
  12. Who wants to bet that within a week they have a custom Hino built by TABC to haul it around instead?
  13. Are we sure it's not a Sierra? "Professional Grade" would be so apt (really driving home that a Tundra is not).
  14. Caption contest?
  15. Chevrolet Silverado—Undisputed Best in Class. For whatever you move, you can rely on a Chevrolet
  16. The diesel will be available, eventually, but we are probably talking 2010—2011, a little after Infiniti starts adding the new Renault/Nissan 3.0 L to their lineup.
  17. Based on early mules in cut and stretched Vectra bodies, the base EP II looks to be 2" wider and have a 2" longer wheelbase.I'm not liking that grille, and overall, I think it looks too much like a GS 350.
  18. What they are saying is—the UAW leadership can't be trusted not to take the money and disappear to a Caribbean tax haven.
  19. Will you reword that?
  20. Most European B-segment subcompacts have "hot" versions with 175–200 PS. 120 PS is not even the top-level for smaller A-segment hatches such as the Yaris, Micra/March, C2 and Swift. For B/C-segment models (that is in the size area in which the B-and C-segments overlap) the minimum power level for gasoline engines is 60 PS, It then progresses regularly up from there in small increments— 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110 (although few models have versions representing successive levels). The latest 1.5s and 1.6s are moving from the 105-110 level to 115 to 120 (not many as yet, and the Corsa doesn't offer an engine of this size at all, although it could easily). The ist/xD is the sole example with an engine at the 130 PS level, just above the old Corsa GSi, but there is a large cluster of European models (including the Corsa) at the 150 PS level, primarily turbocharged 1.5 and 1.6 L engines. For 5-doors such as the Fit, that is the upper limit, but 3-doors get hotter turbos from 175—192 PS, and the odd (no replacement for displacement) Clio with a high-revving 2.0 L at 200 PS. The A/B-segment in which the Sirion, Mini, Yaris hatch, Micra/March, C2 and Swift reside, starts at the same covers a similar range from 60 PS up but generally peaks at the 125—130 PS level (Swift Sport, C2 VTS, Yaris TS), with the exception of the Mini Cooper S at 175 PS.

    New Fit Photos

Most vehicles in this class are really compacts, and most are as big or bigger than the Fit, inside and out (the older Aveo and the A-segment Yaris hatch being the main exceptions). Compared to the latest European and Korean entries, the new Fit is still on the small side.
  23. No ice in my soft drinks, ice to top off my (black) coffee—I like to drink it down fast, not sip it slowly until it's cooler.
  24. That's not so odd. Unless you're from an ethnic group with a long history of milk production (whether it be cows, sheep, goats, horses, camels or reindeer), and the genetic quirk which makes it useful, then as an adult you probably can't digest dairy foods.
  25. It's still quite a bit smaller than the new Europeans and even the Koreans. 5-door Hatch Year Wheelbase Length Width (mm inch) Lada Calina 2004 2470 97.2 3850 151.6 1700 66.9 Xiali Weizhi 2006 2425 95.5 3855 151.8 1680 66.1 Mitsubishi Colt 2002 2500 98.4 3885 153.0 1680 66.1 Mazda2 2007 2490 98.0 3885 153.0 1695 66.7 Honda Fit 2007 2500 98.4 3900 153.5 1695 66.7 Chevrolet Aveo 2007 2480 97.6 3920 154.3 1680 66.1 Scion xD 2007 2460 96.9 3930 154.7 1725 67.9 Mini Cooper Clubman 2007 2547 100.3 3937 155.0 1683 66.3 Toyota Corolla FX 1984 2430 95.7 3970 156.3 1635 64.4 Mazda Verisa 2490 98.0 3975 156.5 1695 66.7 SEAT Ibiza 2460 96.9 3977 156.6 1698 66.9 Renault Clio 2005 2575 101.4 3986 156.9 1707 67.2 Kia Rio 2005 2500 98.4 3990 157.1 1695 66.7 Skoda Fabia 2007 2462 96.9 3992 157.2 1642 64.6 Opel Corsa 2006 2511 98.9 3999 157.4 1737 68.4 Opel Kadett 1984 2520 99.2 4000 157.5 1663 65.5 Fiat Grande Punto 2005 2510 98.8 4030 158.7 1687 66.4 Peugeot 207 2006 2540 100.0 4030 158.7 1720 67.7
