Wheel flares look awkward... but I love the idea of GM pumping out mass market diesels. I'll take a duramax diesel Camaro 2-dr sedan and install 1/4 windows out of the ragtop.

Yup... that was my dream for almost half my lifetime. When I was 20 years old I won 2nd place amateur category in MT's first annual design contest. Now I work at UPS.

This was supposed to be the FIRST affordable hardtop from GM since 1976. Actaully PERIOD. (unless you count the 2-dozen or so Japanese hardtops from the late '70s and early '80s) That's well over a 1/4 of a century. Long time to wait. What;s esp. annoying is that since a convertible is coming 75% of the parts required for a hardtop were already there. This is a cop out and I will never agree that it is the smart or right choice. Let me tell you a little story about how car companies pu$$y out every day and feed us marketing B.S. Back in the late '80s Honda was approached by McLaren to build a V-12 for their upcoming "super-exotic car", you now know it by the name "McLaren F1". Honda turned down the deal saying the horsepower & budget #s were unrealistic. BMW came in ahead of schedule (with said V12) UNDER BUDGET and even though horsepower #s were HIGHER than McLaren's goal weight was even less than requested. One a$$holes "imposible" is another man's "HOW HIGH!?" GM had a perfect opportunity to LEAD for once instaed of following.

Sure it will still sell, plenty of crappy cars sell, the Camaro has a lot going for it. Still why not strive for near-perfection instead of the same old mediocrity?

Don't get me started.... Iniline sixes are a billion times better than V6s. I had a whole thread about this like three years ago. The 4.2 atlas should be the Camaro's base motor and a bi-turbo variant should be offered as a sort of poor-man's Nissan Skyline GT-R. (R34)

See, there you go. I can understand increasing the size of the mirrors. That's a PRACTICAL safety concern, the concept's mirrors were like 2.5" x 4" in terms of glass surface area, not exactly realistic. But a B-pillar is way more of a lame cop out. At least in my opinion. Also the b-pillar will LIMIT visability. THUS DECREASING safety.

The Camaro is WAY better looking, albeit also B-pillared. For $%^ shame. Agreed, but who cares about the first model year anyway... the only people to buy tyhem will be stupid yuppies with fat checkbooks who pay $12,000 over STICKER.

The crossfire is just lame, the Aspen is a joke and the PT Cruiser would be relevant & probably a strong seller with all new & exciting skin. Drop the first two but do the PT Cruiser over in early-1930s retro skin.
