  1. Oh... and yes, I was refering to your "stacked venitport" idea. I thought that was a great new spin on an old design element. how about at a slight forward pitch (angle) in a semi-vertical fashion just rear of the front wheel?
  2. I don't know why I always forget that '58 Buicks dropped Portholes. The B-58 had so much chrome dripping off it's every corner it's hard to beleive they trimmed down some anywhere. I swear I saw a '58 Buick at a carshow as a kid with a set of round ventiports in the front fender just above the sweep-spear. Call me crazy but that's my excuse.
  3. Yes... you know what I say all the time, modern cars are throw-away cameras on wheels.
  4. That first link to MSN seems to give an error off/on... here's a dirst link to the History Channel. http://www.history.com/media.do?id=mm_aero...amp;action=clip ----- I'm pretty sure there's actually two 1959 Buicks in that video... at any rate the white bubble-top is certainly a B-59. At first it looked to be a two-door hardtop but on closer inspection I see a rear 1/4 window so it might be a 4-door post. Either way it is definatelly a 1959 Buick.
  5. Pay close attention & you will probably also spot a beautiful but angry late-1950s nailhead powered 2-door hardtop in white. http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=34f9608e...=&GT1=10252
  6. Good read. I agree 100%
  7. Then he should team up with KFC... they make Chicken Kentucky style for the whole country, GM makes America's sports car in Kentucky.
  8. Wait, so it's official? Let's not forget how many annoying negative-nellys told us for years how we were "dreaming" if we think there's even the slightest chance of a 5th gen. Camaro.
  9. As most of you know 1959 was THE most radical fresh-start redesign for all the GM lineup... esp. Buick. Venti-ports or Portholes if you prefer went away only to return in 1960. To be honest I have thought of putting a set of four on each fender, but I would only do so temporarily and in such a way where they would either be stick on or decals. (vynil) What do you think? Balthazar is panning on "unorthodox" portholes but I do not want to let the cat out of the bag...
  10. Wow... can you say blind. What did he take off the backing tape and throw them on???
  11. Well you can tell your son about 1.5% of his purchase price went to CR.
  12. Yeah... that's what the bean counters will tell us. Good thing the Camaro's designers did not give that car such a gross & ungainly design flaw. You seem to be very accepting of modern cars' shortcomings, I'm the exact opposite... I do NOT like to settle for ugly, mediocre or disproportinate designs. if we all had a "oh, F-it... good enough" attitude I think everyone would drive one of two cars: Camry & "Camry with rear door delete".
  13. Let's not go comparing Google to General Motors. General Motors has been selling cars/trucks for almost a century. Google-Chevrolet is about as apples-to-oranges a comparison as you can draw up... there's no corolary there. In Europe Opel has much more weight than Chevrolet will ever have and vice versa here in the USA. Why do people on this forum always try to reinvent the wheel...? Let's NOT forget Killing Oldsmobile co$t GM more money than it would have to keep the brand alive, & they would still be making & selling new Oldsmobiles, but instead GM lost hundreds of thousands of sales & long term customers to Mercury, Chrysler, Lexus and oher entry-level luxury brands. GM will learn from their mistakes even if you people keep -
  14. 7 looks like a hardtop to me... 5 proportions are off but I like the overal lines & sharp curves 3 (too busy but not bad)
  15. Well I'd love to have any of those pre-war cars... if I did not care for them style-wise or for any other silly reason I'd flip them for a V-16 Cadillac and call it a day. Even the "tacky" Rolls Royce custom is still 100,000% more car than ANY new Acura or Lexus.
  16. Not to mention as much as GMC should get their own version Chevrolet is the value & volume division, they should have the elCamino first and foremost.
  17. Oh.. was that a Star Trek refferance...? I saw a variation of L33T the other day.
  18. I loev the photo of the gas pump... cool patina. [ CONTAINS LEAD ] The Solstice's headlights do not bother me, that's a function of almost any-semi-flush mounted headlight... it will have a bulge to accomodate the reflector & bulb. However these are all just gross, non-sensical and completely unaerodynamic. I'm wondering if it's a function of having the side marker visible from all angles... in which case we here in the USA need to just take on the European standards and incorporate a side marker into the front fender between the door and wheelwell... those are not nearly as lame and puke-inducingly ugly.
  19. To even suggest killing Chevrolet trucks is pretty much saying GM should curl up and die.
  20. There's a big land yacht around here... some '70 Lincoln or something that has a vanity plate pronouncing its 7mpg or something like that. I have been thinking for a while that I should make a 9-MPG front plate for the '71 SDV but that would be quite optimistic, beleive it or not. (XP you out there today...? you'd remember what it was)
  21. Welcome! Nice Corvette Coupe... rare beast, very different than the Z06 it evolved into in 2001. I drove a brandy-new one when I was a salesman at Bill DeLuca.
  22. Yesterday we had a Cadillac customer who had an Infiniti I35 with the gold package and three-per side Autozone oval stick-on portholes. Should have taken a photo. I'll tell you what The Park Ave Ultra & HHR have in common... styling so damn cool, practical interior packaging, non-offensive front overhang and attractive skin that I MIGHT someday in the future overlook the WRONG-wheel drive and talk Julie into replacing her lame Taurus w/ one, although she considers the HHR gross stylistically. Still also looking for a diesel Mercedes, while thinkning about buying a gently-used Police Interceptor for a good mix of size/mpg/comfort.
  23. Too bad it shares the FWD(AWD) platform with the Lancer & Avanger which are both $hitpiles of crap. Stylistically this is probably the nicest car in the Dodge lineup since the Charger. It looks a bit boring but by comparison to the super-deluxe-fugly Nitro & extra-McPuke Caliber this is downright attractive.
  24. So wait, according to PCS there will be a GMC Cabalero but GMC is getting the ax. Opel, Pontiac & Buick are all going to be non-existant soon & Zeta will not be successful so we can pretty much assume that GM will be just a historical footnote, another Hudson or if you will Studebaker in a few years.
