Front Drive Mafia of C&G - Official Thread
Sixty8panther replied to Cory Wolfe's topic in The Lounge
So long as you don't park your car on the lawn of the next Concours d'Elegance between a Dual Cowl Phaeton Deusenberg & a Pierce Arrow Roadster I will not so much as look at it, never mind write notes. -
Yes of course Fly was right. STS = SEVILLE touring sedan. Key word: SEVILLE
-
1. Someday I'll have a CVT........ in a 1959 Buick. 2. CVTs are not meant for Sport Sedans. 3. I'll start to give a damn about the Maxima when it's RWD again.

My personal list:
-
There's truth in this statement. I'm sure CR would rip this car a new @$$hole at first but if Toyota rebadged one and sold it as a Toyota Tercel or Scion xQ then CR would say this was a fantastic car and tell everyone to go out and buy one since it's a fantastic alternative to the Aveo & Fit.
-
Not to mention the compromise in safety. Most morons with a credit card who buy 20" rims for their Camry ES330 have never even heard the term "unsprung weight", never mind rolling inertia and offset. Just more stupidity.
-
I like the Timex much better. Honestly. ...& not just because there's not Toyota attached to the back.
-
Razor: No offense but you're making me laugh. I would not take a dozen '63 Jaguars over that white Fleetwood, never mind the black drop-top. Also your "economy caps" annalogy makes NO SENSE. Anyone who drove 115mph on 1960s public roads with bias ply tires in a 1963 anything was retarded. You're off to a good start with your FWD sedan that has a transverse-mount DOHC V8. A Jaguar X-type would be a great addition to your fleet.

Yeah... the Northstar is a great motor. My hatred of FWD aside our '97 STS's motor is still pretty damn awsome considering the car has 145,000 on it. I still have to trade in that car on something. It's been sitting at a buddy's used car lot for like 4 months now. I'm tempted to part out the car instead of selling it whole.

These photos make me sad. Right on... even a brick to use as a paper weight would be cool.

I got there really early, see all that lawn behind the Super 88? About 90% of what you see was full of show cars about an hour later. The next photo was taken about two hours after I arrived when people were already starting to leave. If you look closely this is the only photo in question that illustrates what I'm talking about in that other infamous thread. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...ic=10987&st=120 Now sharp eyes will notice a late '90s Chevy pickup & a few minivans & other random "non-show-cars" keep in mind that these are all parked in designated spots. They belong to someone who carted their stuff right up to the tent & stage. In other words, the catering staff, band members (1950s music of course ) and vendors of car parts, car models & other automotive related products. This in not the $hit-show that some of you are trying to downplay it to be. Trust me the fu$*ing Camry had NO PLACE being parked on the lawn. Yes the 1994 Ford SHO is not that impressive compared to a '38 Plymouth but it has a legit reason for being there. This was just before I left right around the time the sun sank below the tree line. Sofia's bed time was fast approaching. --- FIN

This very cool 1962 Cadillac is owned by a good friend of SpeedingPenguin. It has also been posted on the pages of C&G before... this past Feb. IIRC.

Rt. 110 in Westford, Massachusetts. This is one of the biggest "cruise nights" in all of New England. Great selection of cars from the pre-war stuff to rare modern exotics. Once in a blue moon you even see a $ix digit "trailer queen" driven in or brass era car or truck. Here's just a few of the cars there last Thursday. I may post more later but this is just a sample. Two weeks ago there was a 1932 Cadillac. I'll post that photo as soon as I dig it up. This '57 is powered by a 427 and is half daily driver half show car. It's owned and was built from the ground up TWICE by my friend Mike's dad... some of you may remember a photo of this car next to my Mad Max Camaro at the old Tyngsboro house.

Oh, and also: Crapo is correct. No joke, I'm sure WMJ knows this but I thought I'd mention that for those who might think he was just being sarcastic.
-
I love most retro and LOVE hardtops but this one never grew on me much. Too goofy and cartoonish. Not a very flattering reinterpretation of the 1950s at all.

You guys remember that "outdoor car museum"? Me & XP went back yesterday and were tooling around. XP found a bottle of Schaefer Beer from what looks like the 60s or 70s. It was sitting on the roof of a '55 Buick covered with pine needles. HE turns the cap, the seal breaks and we actually hear the "PFFSST" as the beer is opened for the first time. So we determined it was probably like 25-30 years old but at least 20 anyway... well, I drank it. It was pretty good actually. I might be the last human in existrance to drink a bottle of Schaefer beer considering they went belly up in like 1988. Ahhh... good times.

The rims are too big and they don;t fit the character of the car but over all this looks much better than the typical car around these parts with "Danks". I saw dubs on a 97-00 Camry the other day and it seems avery beat to $h!, ugly assed bondo-special Civic around here with chrome tape & a big wing has 17-19" rims. I'd drive this anyday over a stock Miata. These rims would look killer on my Q45 me thinks... still a little too big but not ridiculous and the style fits a big sedan.

Creative, very funny This one's a classic but it's worth seeing again. http://www.goyk.com/video.asp?path=1693 ----- OUCH! This car* started off as RWD, later it became FWD and then much later it reverted back to rear wheel drive even though it did well sales wise and performance wise with FWD. What car am I talking about? *model

It's official: Toyota drivers are @$$holes!!!
Sixty8panther replied to Sixty8panther's topic in The Lounge
Well, one thing's for sure... Satty's feeling neglected & ignored again so he's on a mission to get as much attention & sodomy as humanly possible while contributing NOTHING to the conversation. Honestly, what are you doing here? You belong on some other forum where the topic of discussion is more in line with your personality and your brand of sarcasm. You come off like a one trick pony to me. Way I see it, here's your brain: Camaros: Mullets Fieros: Engine Fires All other topics: default to Sodomy. -

Nothing like having to replace a component in a FWD car and wasting 3.75 hours of your time when about 20 minutes would have sufficed if the car was RWD. -
One gets ethyl spilled all over its rear quarter

We've got a winner! Both great movies if you ask me... although the destruction of that sweet a$$ Needle-Nosed Peterbilt & the '68 Camaro in Christine is very, very sad. THat nasty truck was awsome, talk about "patina". Plus anyone wiht a pair or railroad tracks welded to the bumper of a tanker-trailer 18-wheeler means business! -

Okay, I did not bring into it that the CAmry has a B-pillar, transversely mounted four banger of that it's FWD... this was about the laziness of a dirt bag to park something that appliance like amongst cars like '50s and '60s muscle cars, rare modern sports cars & hot rods. Thanks Delta: key word: disrespectful. Well said. ---- Satty: can you make a few more consecutive posts? -
Speeding Penguin and I walked into a local 7/11 this friday and there was a MILF there bent over... I saw down her shirt without even trying. Then I walk over to the "Squishy" machine and around her and her ass crack is in full view ' since her capris were riding about 7" too low. Random, yes, but since we were discussing naked chicks...
