Bingo. http://1929buick.com/albums/1929buickimages/aao.jpg Harley Styled the 1929 Buick to be the first production car with the look of an upscale coachbuilt car. It was kind of a disaster but little is written about it. Here's a very basic synopsis of the misrepresentation of the design.

Never say never... the competition might be stiff but who cares... I've already decided if I only ever buy one new car as long as I live this will be it. The 5th gen. Camaro, so long as it's a true B-pillarless hardtop will be the coolest new car to grace the showroom of a Chavrolet dealership since 1969. The only way the 5th gen. Camaro could be any cooler would be if it cured cancer, organized your junk drawer & spent some "quality time" with your G/F while you pounded down a few beers while watching 'shark week' & eating pizza.

Yes. Enough with the alphabet soup... it's getting pathetic. Lincoln is emulating it so you KNOW it's bad.
-
Yeah... how about that. I just a$$umed it was over its milage or what not. What's the story with this? Are you sure your battery was not dead or the car did not go into some sort of "lock out" mode because of an activated security system?

Oh no they fu$#ing didn't just use the phrase "pebble beach" & Starfire (as in Oldsmobile) to describe this $hitcan of a Toyota Avalon with a retractable roof. W---T---F---? Toyota must die! What the hell is next? The "Fleetwood Brougham LS470"? or perhaps they'll call their next shade of tan metallic "Eldorado Gold" and the next Silver metallic can be "Riviera Sparkle". God I hate Toyota.

XP: I love that silly looking little egg shapped grille... I'd love to make a RAT ROD out of this guy and not even touch the paint but that's about it. Just drop it on an S10 frame and throw a ZZ4 between the fenders attached to a nice rebuilt Muncie or T10. I agree, Jaguar is an unimpressive marque. They're sometimes decent looking cars other times stunning but most of the time not that special cosmetically. Sure they do well when they are raced but so does BMW, Cadillac, Mercedes & Audi. For the record XP has worked on a Jaguar several times in the past year. A co-worker has a gently used but tempermental 1980s XJ6. Even he makes Jaguar jokes.

My Datsun Maxima "talks" in an unthreatening femenine voice and I know that a few 1980s crap-tastic Mopars talked like the Dodge 600 but a GM car that talks? What is this car you speak of? Sounds almost like a one-off concept car or some aftermarket thing. I shall keep my eyes & ears open for one. Sometime soon I'll post some video of my "Datsun Girlfriend" talking. It's pretty cool IMHO.

Absolutely... not to mention the 2nd gen was a much more modern & practical evolution with many quirks worked out and all annoyances addressed. Ralph Nader is the type of person that checks the stove 73 times in one afternoon to make sure it's not on even though he has not used it in like a month. He's very much a sick individual with several different types of O.C.D. His crusaide for automotive safety had some positive ramifications of course but he did more damage to Detroit than any other one single individual.

Corvairs are the O.G. of Euro-American hybridization. I want a Corvair at some point if only to keep it for a few days & flip it just to say I had it.

When I read the title of this thread I thought: Kappa sized Nissan 240Z. Nissan needs to make an old school, retro, "Scion like" lineup of RWD cars for cheap $$$ and call them Datsuns. Start with a super-minimalist 510 hardtop, 4dr sedan & a 240Z stlye little drifting special. [/tangent]

Agreed. While I love Master of Puppets more than anyother album I'm not one of those people that hates anything post Black Album. King Nothing & UNforgiven II were great songs for instance as were some others from the 1990s. What I want to know is WTF was up with St. Anger. It sucked. I bought it listened to it twice and then never touched it again. As a matter of fact when I sold my Blazer I threw my possesions out of the truck into one box fro the liquer store and that's where St. Anger has been for the past 3 years... under a pile of gas receipts, a few cans of fix-a-flat/WD-40/brake cleaner & shop towels in some box from a case of Absolut Vodka in the barn. I hope Metallica comes back, I'd love to hear some quality stuff from them again.

Kind of like Rover & so many British marques. Seriously here's the state of the British production car in 2006. Jaguar --- owned by FORD. (the American lowest common denominator) Rover --- RIP (bought recently by some Millionare in Shanghai) Bentley --- owned by VW AC --- RIP Rolls Royce --- owned by BMW MG --- [see Rover] Triumph --- ? Daimler --- ? Mini --- onwed by BMW What would you say is a bigger slap in the face to a once "repected" British marque like Jaguar? 1. Jokes about how Jaguars are the only cars costing $80,000 that have poorer reliability than a 1978 Hyundai Pony. 2. This prestigious company is owned by the company that made the Mustang II & Escort GT. I think that's why that dude from TopGear is such a prick and makes fun of American cars... because the British Automotive industry is at this point "nonexistant" and it's damaging to his ego. Kidding (mostly)

Anyone remmeber this thread?

Fly pokes fun and is being a smart ass but I've never hear of a person with a RWD with a 3800 complain about access to plugs. NOS? Where are you? Hopefully the next time Bob is doing a tune up it will be on a Zeta Buick and he will report back how much easier it was.
-
Fly is kicking everyone's behinds right now... You guys better step up & at least attempt an answer. This one should be easy enough. Name this car including a basic list of specifications.
-
Question number 3 is not right... the rest are 100% correct. I'll give it to Fly as soon as he gets #3.

Tinting your windows improves your MPG? Oh snap 'G' I be tinting the Super 88 like right now if that's fo' real. Looks good. 80% black 20% transparent is like cop car & stretched limo tint only in this state.

Sealed inside the block. Back in the late 1980s Cadillac determined that something like 99% of starter failures were related to the starter hanging out exposed on the side/back of the motor getting hit with rain, snow, dirt, dust, salt and condensation. So they decided to put it right inside the block in the V of the motor. Since it's DOHC there's room for that unlike in a pushrod. My STS had starting problems for a long time due to twisted, oxidated battery cables and a poor ground. That's probably your problem if the XLR is not starting. I bought my STS in 2002 with 101,400 miles and it had been driven year round through the Big Dig & New England Winters. XLRs are not old enough to encounter bad starters... that's hard to beleive. Your problem lies elsewhere I'm willing to bet.

Never heard the "mole" annalogy but I agree with the comment. Esp. blacked out headlight covers on a black Five-Oh Stang... Silly. This thing is very cool though. Performance wise I mean.

Cue Jaws theme song. Some awsome sketches. Simply Stunning.

Anonymous said... You guys know your organization is named after a GMC pickup truck? I may have a differeacne of opinion with you about Jaguars but that's some funny stuff right there. What a looer-ville of a website. I like that super clever comment about GM. "largest automaker [not for long]"

Yeah that's not the best course of action in Mass. If you rear end someone in this state it's ALWAYS your fault. 99.999% of the time it's automatic no fault for the person who is rear ended. This state's driver manuals say you should be able to "maintain control of your vehicle at ALL times." So you're supposed to be able to predict the future and know when some prick cuts you off and slams on his brakes. It's nothing but B.S. If you have a big $$$ lawyer you're set.

In the next few weeks I'm going to post 59 different trivia questions of all diferent forms on C&G. Multiple choice, photo identification, photo matchup & even some true or false. Some questions will be multiple part and others a simple one word answer. At the end of the 59 individual trivia thread questions all the winners will be added up and a trophy will be mailed via the USPS to the over all winner of the first annual Tight Whips Trivia Trophy. Best of luck to all, I encourage everyone to participate. T.W.T.T. Thread #04 What car is considered to be the world's first concept car? This futuristic concept car was daily driven by its designer & was named after a fighter jet. What car, from the late 1920s was said to look "pregnant" even though it was supposed to be one of the most handsome vehicles in its day at that price range before the styling was executed poorly in sheetmetal? What person is the common link in the first three questions?

1961 Rambler American. You're in the lead now.

Yes & suicide doors need to come back on cars too... we already have them on trucks so why ont on a car like the next Continental if Ford ever gets off their a$$es & makes the production version of the last concept. Two cars I did not grab pictures of becuase my battery died was a '63 Split Window with a GMC blower sticking out of the hood and a '66 Porsche 911 with SBC power. You look in the engine bay of a nice clean Porsche and there's a 350 Chevy sittign there mounmted backwards.
