  1. At this point, I figure it's only a matter of time before China and Japan dominate EVERY MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY. So just sit back and enjoy the show. Our cries to the government haven't worked for decades. Do you think they could turn around now and say, "Oh, crap, our economy is dying. Quick, put tariffs on all imported goods!" They'll work us to a point where we no longer have any US manufacturing companies. And then they'll cut us off. That'll teach us to force them to surrender in World War 2...
  2. I think it may have. But the old Impala wasn't as heavy? Or as powerful. A little of both.
  3. Scion xB. With a Dodge Ram pick-up bed welded to the back.
  4. Good question. There may not be one. Though if we can get more efficient packaging out of hydrogen fuel cells than out of batteries, then it might make sense to "charge" the fuel cells using whatever means necessary.
  5. Blarg! I clicked on this thread thinking something had happened to your car. What makes that annoying is that I already read this thread before and looked at that very same headline. For this reason I will never believe you again if you say something went wrong with the Olds.
  6. Congrats on the new job, man! What was the dealership you were working at before? Nevermind, not important. You've got a new job with better hours! Just too bad it couldn't be for a GM dealership this time around. Oh well, Lincoln/Mercury is cool, too.
  7. I'm reading this thread. About 95% of my reading takes place on the Internet. I'm no big fan of novels whatsoever. I've read a few good ones in the past five years or so. I can almost name them all... "Ender's Game", "Left Behind", "Caravans"?. Not sure if that last one is correct. I find that books are too bulky and ultimately I prefer more interactive entertainment.
  8. GM, Honda, et al are just doing their part to convert away from fossil fuels. Ten or fifteen years down the line, replace that natrual gas -> hydrogen converter with an electric charge -> hydrogen converter. Hydrogen could be produced using water or the surrounding air by using energy from the power grid, which could very well be supplied by wind, solar, geothermic, and nuclear facilities. Hell, you could buy a hundred hamsters and put them on wheels to power your charging unit. Would any of this be cheaper than fossil fuels? Probably not. But at some point we're gonna run out of gas. It's important that we devise a solution, even if it's one step at a time.
  9. You have my respect, as that is sometimes very difficult to do.
  10. Gah!! A Civic minivan!! Sure, the Lumina looks better than that. Maybe if the features were modernized. I've always tried to find a way to make a minivan look cool, and many of my early drawings struck similar to the dustbusters in profile.
  11. I say rather than hit him where it counts, hit him where it hurts. A guy with an attitude like that should not reproduce.

    BLS a bust?

They just now started building and selling them!? We first heard of this car like 2 1/2 years ago!
  13. Well, I'm not sure. I tend to be overly grumpy, but since I'm conscious of that I take all nusiances with a grain of salt. That said, my wife got hit with amnesia a couple weeks back and can't remember anything that happened before this month. Other than that, my life is pretty average.
  14. Guy probably pulled the door handle to make the interior lights go on so he could check out the interior. But in this world, you can only assume the worst. My parents have been out of town all week and my sister has been inviting friends over every night. They've been smoking and drinking, and this weekend, I had my Cobalt parked in the yard because I was out of town with my dad's van, movin stuff. I haven't had a chance to look at the car in daylight, but I'm willing to be there are some dings and scratches that weren't there when I parked it on Friday.
  15. For the money I spent on the Cobalt, I'd probably look at a stripper Fusion, or a Mazda3. I'll admit, the Civic coupe is somewhat appealing... But really, I'd rather have the Mazda.
  16. You said what needed to be said. But now I'm curious what the re-rebuttal says.
  17. "Camaro and G6 coupes are likely to be the only 2+2s in the GM lineup that I can think of off the top of my head." It would be a bitch to seat three comfortably in the back of a Cobalt coupe. Let alone the Aveo... Or does "2+2" mean there's something between the two seats in the back?
  18. How many top scores were awarded at this challenge? This is awesome, but we also need a complete picture to look at so as not to be deceived.
  19. I very much resent that. ...Although I have zero respect for the New York Times. They don't publish comic strips! What the hell kind of newspaper doesn't have funny pages!?
  20. It's funny... I sketched a concept car that was essentially a car specifically designed for monster wheels (no unsightly wheel wells, high-durability undercarriage and shield...). Some might remember I posted it a while back (as in years ago), but for those who don't, I'll be sure to repost it when I get home tonight.
  21. http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/06/14/fema.audit/index.html Because, some people just can't live without gold tootheses and porn.

    ....

It's starting to look pretty good to me. Still not better than the Tahoe, though.
  23. I recall a situation similar to the linked video where ESC would have saved me the embarassment of getting stuck in a snow bank. So that's not Traction Control's job at all, huh? I'll be sure to stay in the 30-mph interstate lane next time I drive through a blizzard...
  24. According to the DIC, and because I've been driving mostly long-distance these past couple of weeks, my average hit 31 MPG.
  25. Are they doing anything to the exterior to go along with this update?
