  1. I agree. This shows that the ION did inspire other designs, it's just that the ION was so poorly executed that no one noticed.
  2. My list of compact cars "currently" in production would include: 1.) Opel/Vauxhall/Holden/Saturn Astra 2.) Volkswagen Golf (Mk V) 3.) Mazda3 4.) Chrysler PT Cruiser 4.1) FIAT Bravo (if here- it looks great) 5.) Scion tC 6.) Honda Civic Coupe 7.) Chevrolet Cobalt/Pontiac G5 8.) Dodge Caliber 9.) Suzuki SX4 10.) Toyota Corolla XRS I tried to go for somewhat conventional small cars versus anything that is small like the Mini, Sky/Solstice/GT, A3, and others including things like the Aveo, xA, and xB (current models).
  3. Hyundai is on its way, styling knock-offs or not. Even Lexus from Toyota has yet to find its own styling identity and still may never do so. If I were to work for an Asian automaker (say, for styling of course) Hyundai would be my pic because there is no expectation for what a Hyundai ought to look like. That could possibly change in the next ten years, although I wouldn't hold my breath for it to happen. Hyundai is growing readily with each successive product being leagues better than its predecessor. Approach with Caution in dealing with Hyundai's threat to the domestics.
  4. Yes yes. Since it's not a GM product it must be hideous. Although I much prefer the Neon SRT-4, this thing will slap almost anything else silly in the sheer numbers department. At least it doesn't have that hideous basket handle fin of the Cobalt SS Supercharge/ION RedLine.
  5. Mid-size? Um, no. The 300 is a full sized sedan. The Sebring is the midsized one. Maybe you should try driving a model other than the cheapie/rental. Like oh, um, I don't know... the 300C with the V8. The 300 is one of the most if not the ONLY daring sedan to appear out of Detroit recently. Chrysler's cars may no longer be beautiful, but they can still be eye catching (even if it is in a bad way).
  6. Some of these opionions remind me of what my grandparents keep telling me, "Japan said after WWII that they would take us over without firing a single shot" Could this be from the industry? Rather interesting to think about.
  7. The front reminds me a little of that Opel GT coupe concept with all of the crazy air intakes, but I still love it. Too sporty for a Buick? Please. That's what's wrong with Buick already- it's not nearly sporty ENOUGH.
  8. To mine eyes, these were all faliures BECAUSE of the styling. Aztec is as lovely as a rolling dustbin. SSR is an awkward blend of truck, retro, and sport coupe. Thunderbird is retro.
  9. Yes, the film is similar to Rearview Mirror from what I hear. For anyone looking for a gory terror flick, look elsewhere. This is a film trying to be more than that.

    Disturbia

Disturbia It is one of those few films that is so much more than one that is meant to be scary, and at PG13, I am afraid that too many people would let this slip off from their radars as any sort of a "must see". Within the first 15 minuted of this film I laughed, cried *honestly*, felt rage, and sympathy. One is able to see how the characters are developed as one is introduced to them, learn about them, and see how they change. I would highly recommend seeing this production, but make sure you take someone with you, otherwise, the opening sequence is very hard.
  11. If it were made and still passionate like this, I'd lust. Buick needs cars like these to survive.
  12. Oh, not much. I still rip around town and down the interstate pretty much the same as always. To encounter 80+ mph is nothing for me when on the freeway.
  13. I would gladly take a diesel Astra with the six speed stick. I'd just rather have it sooner than later.
  14. Well, that's it? The front looks okay, but I don't care for the steering wheel, the odd dash treatment, or the same as before rear. Never thought I'd say this, but GM China has the better product here by far.
  15. That's because Ford's rear drive V8 sedan is an outclassed joke these days, a living relic hanging on only for police fleets and taxi companies. If this new Hyundai looks as good or better than the concept that was recently previewed, and the price is right, they are ones to watch out for.
  16. Man, tonight, all the debating seems to be so complicated and over thought. It could possibly be much simpler than some of what is suggested here, although they are all too, plausible.
  17. How the hell does this remind you of a Stratus aside from the trunk mounted CHMSL in asny way shape of form? Their styling languages are worlds apart. The tail lamps are still vertical, the Stratus's were horizontal as well.
  18. Agreed. One can't just jump from premium faimly sedans to the A8/7-Series/S-Class Arena overnight and expect to be accepted.
  19. Precisely why I would be against it. It just paranoia over the things that one is unable to control and making every attempt possible to do so and fail. Things are made illegal by the government, and people will still do them. Such an item would be nothing more than a nuisance and truly an invasion of privacy because it is NO ONE'S business as to where I may be at any point in time, let alone a chip featuring a "body chemical sensor" that could alert the authorities and then they to come get you. You're getting rather Ayn Rand/Lois Lawry here. No good could come to the general masses through this.
  20. Sorry but the Phaeton is NOT an Audi. They share engines and drivetrains as does the rest of the group (including Bentley thank you very much) but the A8 and the Phaeton are not the same car. The A8 is an aluminum spaceframe car, the Phaeton a steel chassied one with some aluminum panels. There is something around a 2,000 lb difference between the two in W12 form. The Phaeton is incredible, but it has the wrong name (it's not a phaeton at all) and the wrong brand badge on the decklid and grille. It would have been really neat if VW had offered the Phaeton with the stonking V10 TDI engine that is also in the Touareg. It would have made more sense for VW to sell the car in short wheelbase and V6 versions with optional V8 and no W12 as opposed to the standard V8 and optional W12.
  21. Dodge Daytona. It just caught my eye when I was younger, and the IROC R/T versions kick ass! The closest I've come to a Daytona was its technical "platform mate" J-body (Daytonas were G-Bodies) K-Derived LeBaron Convertible.
  22. Um, do I want to ask what the rest is or where this is going or why it exists?
  23. Yuck. Back to the drawing board, I suppose. This looks like a combination of some Toyota and other Asian brands. It doesn't have a strength of design to properly correspond with the 3, 6, or others.
  24. I agree. Screw this Imperial concept, it is truly revolting. Such money could be used to better the appearances and interiors of other models (Sebring, anyone?) or to build stunning cars again like the Firepower, Airflite, and others. Or relaunch Plymouth!
