My Car Died on the Way Back from Detroit Last Thursday!
MyerShift replied to MyerShift's topic in The Lounge
Oh, they'd better. Since they didn't get it right the first time, it's their fault for misdiagnosing it, and they'd better do it free of charge, like the last time when something malfunctioned. Hehe. -
I suppose I believe dreams to be the brain processing all received information ever, and that's why the past may come up. It is during sleep in which the brain is surprisingly active. I also feel that dreams may indicate some subconcious desire.

Geneva: Chevrolet Captiva (production S3X)
MyerShift replied to Northstar's topic in Geneva International Motor Show
It really does look very nice, and it's available with a manual transmission! I have to say, I would take this Korean Theta over any of the North American choices currently available. -
My Car Died on the Way Back from Detroit Last Thursday!

Yeah, I read about that. It really does suck. Your post actually inspired me to share my experience with everyone, lol. It was on my mind, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to babble about it, but I decided, eh, why not? -
Hey, there was one of these updated 300's at a rest area off of I-94 West today accompanied by a Jeep Commander and a Dodge Charger SRT-8. I was on my way to Detroit in the loaner. And, by the way, 94 was slicker than snot. Utterly terrible because it looked wet, but was like what happens when you spray Pledge on a linoleum floor. Vwhoop! On your rear. The interior LOOKED the same as the current one, so unless they're improving the materials or ahven't gotten around to putting a new interior into a mule yet, I wouldn't expect anything great as far as an interior change is concerned. But, I do like the 300's interior as it is.

I'm home and have the time right now, so I thought I'd finally share this since it's still effecting me. On my way home from Detroit last Thursday after my English Placement Exam, I got to Chelsea on I-94 when my car died. Now, it wouldn't be quite so bad if this was the first time that it had happened, but it was about the fifth time that it's done it to me, and what pissed me off above everything else is that what the dealership thought the problem was turned out not the be the problem at all. I maintain that it's the fuel pump. On a long drive (I got to Detroit fine) it just eventually fizzles out on the Interstate. It gives a hiccup, and then the car just starts slowing down, and if you apply the throttle, that just makes it die faster. But yet, oddly enough, lifting up on the pedal quickly makes it rev up, the opposite of what would be expected. So, there I was, waiting for the tow truck. Eventually, got to Hillsdale and they gave me a loaner (a 2002 Chrysler Sebring sedan in a terrible gold colour). Of course though, my car had finally sat long enough so that it started without any issue at all. So, I have to take the Sebring to Detroit the next day. Fine and dandy. However, I discovered on the way home in the rain and road spray of 94 that the wipers totally suck, and I can't really see anything. So, I exited, parked, took a brief nap, and then ate something so that enough time passed and the traffic had relaxed. So, last night (about three days later) I bought new wipers for the LOANER. Voila, instant vision improvement. (In case you hadn't already figured it out, I still have that car with me as of tonight) Unfortunately (again) the front end of this Sebring is making the same loose, rattling sound over certain surfaces that my Breeze did when I had to have the tie-rod ends replaced. Oh the joy. So, when I finally get my car back, I'm going to tell them that I bought wipers for their car and then I'll mention the noise. Best part is that they've had my car for four days now (I know, Sunday they don't work so it shouldn't count) and I won't be able to get it back tomorrow because they are "unable to replicate the problem" and I wouldn't be able to get mine until next Tuesday because of my schooling schedule. Goody. Twelve days without my car, and fearing the front end is going to fall out of the Sebring. Yippy-skip! Oh well. At least this car's 200 hp 2.7L V6 is a LOT faster than my car's 132 hp 2.0L 4-pot with an automatic. So, how is everyone else doing? I just thought I would share my slice of the individualistic personal hells we all experience from time to time.

Also, on the bright side, I finally have about half of my stuff moved into my dorm room at school. Thank God I won't have to commute all of the time. I also have my temporary parking permit (cuz I don't have my car). And, so far, I just know that although I'm going to want to scream, it will be a most worthwhile experience going to school and pursuing my career!!!

Lol. That tickles my humour (in a good way, no ill will or what not ) What's really strange is that good dreams never seem to last long enough, while worse ones (or just plain bad) seem to drag out forever.

Sorry guys, count me out. I voted Very Good But... because: I can't stand this odd cheese-grater grille. I covered it up, and it looked worlds better to me. I just can't picture it going with the car, so perhaps in person it might be different. And, though not a deal breaker for me like that grille, the steering wheel hub is funky too.

Lexus IS-F
MyerShift replied to Intrepidation's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
It looks good- but... It doesn't look useful to be out on the street. No manual transmission. Coupe model not present (same goes for the A4- a coupe was actually planned, but never built.) -
So... this really did happen and it wasn't my computer alone doing it? That's a relief in one way, yet still supremely irritating in another. Hopefully the host eradicates the problem they are causing us.

I know what you mean by that. Every car I've driven seems to have harder and harder and cheaper and cheaper feeling plastics. The build span is: 1987, 1993, 1997, 1996. My Buick Skyhawk had the softest plastics and most abundant carpeting on the doors and dash of any of my cars. I sure do miss it. 4-On-the-Floor Baby!!!!

I had a really odd (to me at least) dream a couple of nights ago. I met BV! I have no idea where it came from because usually my dreams have something that relates to something that I know of or have experienced recently or in the past, and here I am, hanging out and getting along with someone that I have never even me before. Anyway, just thought I'd share this bizarre occurence with the rest of you (rest being as in not myself only). Anyone else have some totally random dream that one doesn't know where it came from?

Yes, of course, I'm sorry. The current one looks better because it looks like a Tahoe, but I still get get excited about that rear.

Terrible and tasteless.

Yeah Yeah!!!!!!!!! Aura and Silverado- truly amazing products that shows GM is almost there (Aura) and completely there (Silverado).

2008 Ford Five-Hundred
MyerShift replied to Flybrian's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
Wow! A cassette player! I'm surprised but yet impressed, lol. If I had an auto company, my stereos would be cassette/CD/MP3 capabilities with disc changers and the possibility of an internal hard drive (a la MyGig). -
Chrysler should keep the same basic styling and dimensions, but update the powertrains, chassis, and interiors. Or they could just look to BMW's Mini brand and update the PT in that fashion. They did supply the 1.6L engine in it you know.

I think I mentioned something like that in Porsche's Power play, or something like that. But why would Porsche want Audi over VW? Volkswagen and Porsche actually have common ties, and it was Audi (Auto Union) that yanked VW from the past and into the present with watercooled engines because VW kept trying to develop an air-cooled Beetle replacement, and nothing was working. Then they bought Auto Union somehow and along came the Golf. I know that's very simplified, but I believe that's the gist of the story.

Exactly. This is far from the blatant badge jobs of yore. This car is handsome and very different in its segement, and convincing as a small Cadillac in Europe. Is it fake to some of you because it's front drive, or because it's not on its own unique platform? So then, that means that the DTS, Escalade (and variants), and the XLR are not being real Cadillacs either because they share their respective platforms with : Olds Aurora/Buick Lucerne (G-body), Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Silverado (GMT-900) and finally, Chevrolet Malibu, Opel Vectra, Saturn Aura, Pontiac G6, and Saab 9-3 (Epsilon). Uh-huh. I thought so. For me, the BLS (BTS sounds so much better- I mean, BLS... BobLutzSpecial, BitLikeSaab, etc.) is the most appealing Cadillac because of its size and general styling. If it were rear-drive, then it would be a cakewalk. It's a very handsome sedan in the best style of A&S.

ION? So? Lol. The Astra is based on what the company (Opel) claims as a modified version of the old platform, but several different sources say that the Cobalt/ION/G5 are based on the Astra, but that they are Delta and sometimes the Astra is referred to as Delta based, so it surely is odd and confusing. Maybe the Astra is the Delta architecture before GM North America got a hold of it and beat it with a stick.

I suppose so, but there must be something going on within the company. It is best to see how it pans out, but might as well stay updated for possibilities so that there are no surprises.
