Disappointing no 6-speed auto available for the Sierra...

Interesting that only the heavy duty, etc trucks have the 6spds.

Only the 1500 Silverado's and Sierra's still have the 4spds. GM must still not being making large volumes of the 6spd rwd truck transmissions.

  • 3 weeks later...

I like the two new red colors for the Sierra (but still can't understand why the Medium Brown and Sonoma Red Metallics are locked out of the W/T/SL trims), but otherwise the truck sucks and its a huge disappointment to me, just like its near-clone Chevy Silverado.

Here's why I don't like it:

-The cabs look/felt smaller than the previous generation models, let alone Dodge Ram, Toyota Tundra, etc.

-Front disc and rear drum brakes. ITS FREAKING 2008!!!! NOT 1968!!!! 4-wheel discs!!! At least they're not like Dodge and have rear-only ABS standard.

-Those 2005-now base steel wheels look like crap. At least the 1999-2004 trucks tried not to look cheap despite being equipmentless base models, and on that note...

I was looking at my 2007 Tundra brochure (and still have yet to get into one) and noticed you can get power windows on the Base models. Now, if I'm going for a W/T (which shouldn't be offered on Sierra, just for the sake of the GMC being slightly more upscale-start at SL), I probably wouldn't get power anything, but still in keeping with the times, why not make them at least optional on the not-quite deluxe (1LT for Chevy, SLE for GMC) models?

On the product changes, nice to see a Black Pearl (or whatever) for Acadia, now just ditch the Navy Blue and maybe add 27U Crimson Red or the Sonoma Red Metallic and we're in business. And add chrome window surround and body-color OSRV mirrors to the SLE trim. Nice color changes for the others, but why did Envoy not get Gold Mist?
