Audi Q3's Arrival Into The U.S. Gets Delayed

It has been about two years since Audi announced that the Q3 Crossover would be coming to the U.S. Since that time, no word has come out of Audi HQ about when the Q3 would be arriving on our shores. We have a answer and a possible timeframe.

According to Car and Driver, Audi is planning to launch the Q3 in the U.S. within the next eighteen to twenty-four months. The reason is due to the way the U.S. classifies vehicles. Audi wants the Q3 to be classified as a 'light truck', however it doesn't meet certain criteria such as the vehicle's approach angle. Audi will be addressing this with a mid-cycle refresh.

Seems to me that this is saying it is not fuel efficient so they need light truck rating to get it into the US without the gas guzzler penalty.

Lame..they to get rid of the double standard and have one standard for cars and trucks. FWD CUVs aren't trucks.

Trucks are trucks and I think they need to clear this up so that CUV's FWD, AWD or RWD are not allowed to have Light Truck status. I understand a real SUV, Body on frame full size SUV being listed as a light truck. But these UniBody CUV's are NOT Trucks.

Because why would you want to take a multi port fuel injected car and turn it into a carbed car? Also, it's a ton of work (if you even can make the thing fit under the hood) for not a lot of gain, and you're still having to run it through the 4-speed 4T80-E. There are other Northstar mods out there that will get better bang for the buck.
