    2026 BMW iX3 Electric SUV Debuts at CES 2026 - 500-Mile Range, 800V Charging, AI Assistant

      BMW's Neue Klasse iX3 delivers 500-mile range, 800V fast charging, 469-hp AWD, and Alexa+ AI. Starting at $60k with US deliveries in Summer 2026.

    BMW has a rich history of building the drivers auto such as the legendary models of the 1800, BMW M1, BMW 3 series, BMW X5 and the electrified i8. With this rich history, it only makes sense that the next evolution is the iX3 with an all-electric range of 805 kilometers or 500 miles on a single charge for the BMW iX3 50 xDrive model. Across the whole model lineup, the iX3 has a range of 678 Kilometers / 421 miles to 805 kilometers / 500 miles on a single charge.

    The BMW iX3 according to Chairman Oliver Zipse is the most important all new vehicle for BMW in the last half-century and will lead BMW into the next decade and beyond globally. The iX3 is a quantum leap forward in technology, design and driving dynamics.     Panoramic iDrive Interior

    BMW realized the competition for one's attention and as such has brought to market the following with the iX3:

    • Panoramic iDrive consisting of four elements
      • Panoramic Vision - a cleanup of the interior allowing for the information at the right line of sight, at the right point in time and at the right location. This being the lower edge of the windshield.
      • Central Display - All-new user interface for easier management with voice control of your auto.
      • Multi-function steering wheel - The 20% of most common used features that cover 80% of what a driver does in the auto plus working with the voice control.
      • Optional 3D head-up display - Driver customizable 3D HUD that gives you the info you want, when you want it, on the windshield minimizing the need to look down or to the right for information while driving.

    800V Architecture and Charging

    2026 BMW iX3 hands-free driving demonstration on highwayBMW called the iX3 their sixth-generation EV architecture which consists of the following:

    • 800-volt electrical system that allows 30% faster charging and 40% greater efficiency allowing 231 miles of range in just 10 minutes at a DC charging station. 10% to 80% in 21 minutes.

      • Standard 11 kW controller
      • Optional 22 kW controller

    To take full advantage of home charging capabilities, BMW iX3 owners will want a quality Level 2 home EV charger. Popular options include the ChargePoint Home Flex NACS or Grizzl-E 48A Ultimate Level 2, which can handle the standard 11 kW charging speeds and are compatible with most home electrical systems. NACS compatible 22 kW home charger options are still limited. When traveling, you'll need a CCS to NACS adapter to take advantage of all charging options out there, the Lectron CCS to NACS Adapter is one of the highest rated on Amazon.

    BMW has gone back to their 1960's era of kidneys and twin headlights.     I feel like they've finally fixed their design language with this, though its almost a new round of neo-retro like we had in the early 2000s with the PT Cruiser, Neu Beetle, HHR, etc.

    Nothing negative to say about it, other than its a SUV...and nothing negative about the body creases that go from the front to the back, but they do remind me of the creases on the Graf Zeppelin.

    And I kinda like them on the BMW.  But I really really hate the fact that it is a SUV.

    I like it.  @Drew Dowdell said that its kinda new round of retro 2.0 styling. And I would agree.  At least the 'twin kidneys' are toned down a lot from the monstrosities they were putting out.  The one complaint I got is I would prefer if the headlights and 'grille' were more centered on the face. More 'down' on the front eliminating all that nothingness that is 3/4s of the front and the top 1/4 are the lights and twin kidneys.

    I think this design will look better on a sedan than an SUV, but I like the direction they are going.

    And this is one generation, I bet the same happens to the generation after this, and we start seeing EV cost and weight going down.

    Chinese EVs now entering the Canadian market will heat things up with all manufacturers. Competition will be fierce. And the Chinese EV makers now have both the north and south sandwiching and squeezing the detroit makers.  And we know this because of how the Chinese EV makers have made the competition in Europe fierce. While BMW is currently doing good with their EV sales in Europe, they cant slip up and lose any battles.   VAG is also holding on quite well with EVs, but they too cant slip up.  Mercedes and Stellantis are not doing well EV wise.  

    The way things are playing out in the usa though, if gm, ford and chrysler continue to allow the trump administration to d!c-k  around and sink EV policies to non-existence and they in turn allow themselves to delay EV development and to delay to offer compelling EVs  all three detroit area manufacturers will sink to oblivion. And that includes gm regardless if the 2nd generation of ultium would be of equal technology to the Chinese. Ultium 2.0 will not be of equal relevance...    And PRICE is a HUGE component when talking about technology development  and relevance...   

    South Americans where Chinese EVs are sold have already forgotten about american car makers and the same will happen to the Canadian market. Especially the way trump continues to antagonize Canada...  Canadians are already hating on americans and boycotting american products.   

    European car makers with their EVs in the usa market will have to adjust.  But European car makers sell expensive  EVs and americans are going down a path to where they will be waiting in line for bread like the way Russians were doing up until the 1980s and ronald reagan was poking fun at them when Gorbachev was dictator.

    I hate how this looks as of right now. Maybe it will be something that grows on me. I know the current Silverado and HD were hideous to me at the beginning, too, then they grew on me. I'm not sure if this will do that or not, but I don't like it right now. 

    I'm sure the overall package is stellar and up to the latest standards or creating new standards for EVs. 

    Also, BMW needs to get their naming in check (along with Merc). This is silly, IMO; BMW iX3 50 xDrive.

    When the deal was announced about 49 000 Chinese entering Canada and increasing every year up to 75 000 or whatever it is in the next 5 years... no details were announced about where these Chinese EVs would be built.  Hints and allegations but nothing announced in the media. I guess the would be plans have been announced now.  Dougie Ford, a conservative Premier of Ontario... was not happy about it. But why is it that ALL conservative/republican and right leaning politicians in North America always get their panties in a twist and ALWAYS NEVER work with solutions that benefit ALL and ALWAYS go against the phoquing grain?  But I digress... 

    Dougie Ford was upset and publicly denounced the move. 

    Why is that bad?

    1. Canadians NEED to stand together in face of the threats that are coming from the usa.

    2. Carney...is a conservative leaning leader himself, but is heading a liberal, left leaning party but I digress again...Carney is not a politician. He is a finance guy. Was THE finance guy in Steven Harper's cabinet when Steven Harper was Prime Minister, yes...CONSERVATIVE party...and was THE finance guy in the UK when he took the job there when the Canadians conservatives shat the bed again...and took the UK finance job when asked by the UK torries just when the Brits were talking about Brexit. He advised the UK CONSERVATIVE party NOT pursue Brexit...but I digress again...  Carney is a smart FINANCE guy. Carney does deals between countries.  He knows what is good for the country he represents...in other words...Carney would NOT phoque Canada up... and Dougie Ford should have known that instead of causing a public riff to which trump could exploit.  Big oil and fox news and right wing parties from the usa and Canada already have their claws in Alberta...  Some Albertans are diseased with this shyte that is going on with right wing bullshyte...

Like I said...hints and allegations were winked at that Chinese EVs would eventually maybe be built in Canada and the way Carney spoke BEFORE Davos, is that Canada is ready to decouple from the usa.  And eventually Carney and Dougie Ford spoke and this is what Dougie had to say yesterday or was it today?

Carney then went to Davos and spoke with words that trump's administration could never understand, he used bigly words and what was said was that Canada and the rest of the world should and could and will decouple from the usa and that the usa will be irrelevant to which all the political leaders there applauded Carney with a standing ovation.  

    And of course China WANTS to build their EVs here in Canada:

    And of course China WANTS to build their EVs here in Canada:

    • Trump threatened 100 percent tariffs in response to deal.
    • China now wants to build EVs in Canada with local partners.

    Canada’s recent trade deal with China was bound to cause controversy. The agreement slashes tariffs on Chinese EVs from 100 percent down to just 6.1 percent, prompting U.S. President Donald Trump to threaten 100 percent tariffs on Canada if the deal proceeds. Still, China insists the arrangement is meant to benefit both countries and isn’t a zero-sum game.

    trump threatened 100% tariffs on Canadian products again as a result of this deal.   Well, trump does not want a free trade deal between China and Canada.  Many things wrong with that thought process...but...

    The EV trade deal  between China and Canada is not by ANY means a free trade deal between our two countries. Its just a deal regarding a few products that China and Canada agreed to eliminate or reduce our respective tariffs on our respective products that we trade with each other.   

    But...only focusing on the 100% tariffs that trump likes to speak of... At THIS juncture, I dont think Canadian politicians and finance ministers care all that much anymore. I mean, they care, but they arent afraid of the potential down falls of the Canadian economy as it once was threatened 8, 9, 10 months ago.  Carney has had the time to renegotiate trade deals with the rest of the planet to sell our goods to our existing partners. It was easy to do as trump also threatened Canada's allies...  The WORLD was under the same phoquing threat.  The world just united together AWAY from the usa.  Also...Carney was able to talk to countries OUTSIDE of Canada's usual trading partner's to reach NEW markets to sell our goods to... 

    What is really frightening to the usa's future is that 

    1. trump has alienated usa's allies AWAY from the usa.

    2. trump has also UNITED usa's enemies with usa's former allies... 

    3. usa's enemies remain usa's enemies.  China and Russia and North Korea arent exactly usa's friends. trump , family and friends get to profit from Russia, but not americans... 

     

    Licknut, or Nutlick or whatever this grifter's name is keeps on harping on the fact that Canada's  75% of exports are to the usa.

    1. While true...Carney and Canada have now NEW trading partner's to sell to. It looks like a good chunk of that 75% is now going to go to other markets...  CUSMA is still important though.  But Mexico and Canada could now actually live without the usa.  

    2.  And THIS IS MORE important...

    While true that 75% of Canada's exports are to the usa...tariffs are paid by the country that IMPOSES these tariffs.  75% of Canada products are a HUGE amount to BOTH countries...

    A) That 100% tariff on Canada's products will cost americans dearly...

    B) 75% of those products NEED to be purchased elsewhere...like potash and aluminium and wood... Where in the phoque is Licknut/Nutlick going to replace all those Canadian products?  At least Canada has new markets going on...  Is Licknut/Nutlick busy on the global stage trying to get new products in?  All I know is trump keeps on threatening the world with tariffs...  Hence why the world gave Carney a standing ovation when Carmey said that the world SHOULD just ignore the usa and let the usa just wither and die...

    • New York - At the 2026 New York International Auto Show, Kia introduced the 2027 EV3, an entry-level electric SUV that brings the design language and technology of the EV9 into a smaller, more attainable package. The EV3 arrives in five trims — Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line, and GT — with a targeted on-sale date of late 2026. Pricing will be announced closer to launch. Two Batteries, Real Range The EV3 is built on Kia's 400V E-GMP platform with a choice of two battery options. The entry Light trim uses a 58.3 kWh pack with front-wheel drive and up to a Kia-estimated 220 miles of range. The remaining four trims step up to an 81.4 kWh battery with up to a Kia-estimated 320 miles of range in FWD configuration. All-wheel drive is optional on Wind and Land and standard on GT-Line and GT. Output is 261 horsepower on AWD models and 288 horsepower on the GT, which adds a sport-tuned suspension and steering along with neon green brake calipers, seatbelts, and interior accents. The 58.3 kWh battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 minutes on a DC fast charger; the 81.4 kWh battery takes approximately 31 minutes. A native NACS port is standard, and Plug and Charge capability allows charging to begin by simply plugging in after a one-time setup in the Kia Access app. EV9 Design Language The EV3's exterior borrows directly from the EV9, including the star map DRL, hidden rear door handles, and flush-mounted roof rails. Standard wheels are 17-inch alloys; GT-Line and GT step up to 19-inch wheels, with the GT receiving unique 19-inch wheels to match its green caliper accents. A U.S.-exclusive Nightfall appearance package is available on certain trims, adding gloss black wheels, black emblems, bridge-type roof rails, and a dark gray interior.     • New York - The second-generation 2027 Kia Seltos made its North American debut at the 2026 New York International Auto Show, arriving longer, wider, and with something no competitor in the compact crossover segment can match: three distinct powertrain options. Three Powertrains The base engine carries over as the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder, paired with Kia's Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Available in LX, S, EX, and X-Line trims, it comes with front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. Step up to the X-Line and the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder develops 190 horsepower, routed through an 8-speed automatic with standard all-wheel drive.     • Again, loving owning the Camry Hybrid, I plan on full EV next car.  The world's opinion will not go back, nor should it.  You do motorcycles, I do Bicycles. Riding around, even in deep red areas I am seeing a TON of EV's here in Ohio.  Its like Diesel vs Steam for railroads. At a certain point, even if you are Norfolk and Western and have tons of near free coal, or Pennsylvania with advanced steam locomotives, Diesel just makes infinite sense. Likewise, EV's.
