Rumorpile: The FCA UAW Production Shuffle

There Are More Production Changes In Store for FCA

More details about the tentative labor agreement between the UAW and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is coming to light. Automotive News has learned from sources that more production moving would be taking place.

As we reported last week, FCA's Toledo factory would be saying good-bye to the Cherokee to make room for more Wranglers and the possibility of a new truck. The Cherokee is expected to be built Belvidere Assembly in Illinois.

The big change in production is the Ram 1500 moving from the Warren Truck Plant to the Sterling Heights Assembly plant. This will mean production of Chrysler 200, currently built in Sterling Heights, will move to another plant. According to a source, that plant will be the Toluca, Mexico one. This is the current home of the Dodge Journey and North American version of the Fiat 500. Along with the 200, the Dodge Dart will move to Toluca.

So what is happening with the Warren Truck Plant? That will be retooled and converted from a body-on frame to a unibody production facility to make way for the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, the rumored three-row luxury SUV.

Either they're expecting volumes of the Grand Wagoner to mimic that of the Ram (doubtful, even with Sergio's rose tinted glasses) or something else is also going in there.

My thinking that it could be used as secondary plant for Grand Cherokee.

    • Very nicely written tribute for your late friend Phil.  We all need more folks like this in our lives. The cream colored Monte Carlo in the montage is beautiful.  The 1981 to 1986+/- coupe was a real uptick for the MC. Belated happy New Year from across the pond.  I'm enjoying the much slower rhythm so far and the people have been great.
    • No, I'm not going to weave in any Subaru jokes.  When anyone first hears this, they know it's a good song - it's sort of catchy - and the voice is stellar. But the trippy part is the black and white video itself showing a strange stage act in this grande dame type theater.  The people in the play look like something right out of a Jack Kerouac or John Steinbeck novel.  It all leaves you hanging as to how and why it may all fit together.
    • Went in for my annual service/oil change (about 5000 miles since the last one).  Been parked most of the winter, weather been cold and snowy.. warming up and melting.  Got a new set of tires last week (replaced the Bridgestone Potenzas with Firestone Firehawks), getting an oil change and new battery today--I think I had the original battery--after all the cold weather recently, noticed it was down to 10.3 volts when starting, but rising to 15.x after a few min.  Want it in ship shape before my 10 vacation in two weeks..road trip down to Beaufort & Hilton Head, SC, Savannah and Macon GA and Asheville, NC..      After picking it up from the dealer, stopped for tacos near home.  Still turn around and look at it after parking.. beautiful car.
    • The other one is when he holds a press conference and someone in the press asks him a question that he doesn't want to field and he just says, 'Next question.' That's because his entitled and corrupt a$$ is in gear, he doesn't want to be accountable, and they've let him get away with it for years.  We're now in 2026.  Does this mean Project 2025 didn't gel like they wanted it to? I can't believe how often he passes and makes nasty remarks to go with along with doing so.
