New SRT Viper Slowly Slithers Out of the Shadows

Just last month Chrysler's SRT division served up their first teaser image of the upcoming all-new Viper, cloaked ominously in the shadows. Well, SRT now reckon the time is right to charm the big snake into the light and give us the first glimpse of its new, shiny skin.

Okay, not exactly. While the Viper has finally slithered into the light, we're still just as much in the dark as we were before. What we can tell for sure from the newest teaser SRT just released over on their Facebook page is that we're looking at a scoop that's been crafted from carbon fiber. Since it is a carbon fiber scoop on a V-10-powered serpent, we can assume it probably directs cool air somewhere, maybe to the engine, maybe to the brakes. Oh, it’s also been painted red.

We should know what sort of function the scoop serves in April at the New York Auto Show, where SRT is planning to officially pull the wraps off of the new Viper. Until then, we’re free to debate on what exactly we’re looking at and continue to wait out the next few weeks in slow agony.

I so hate Facebook, what a worthless site. They continue to prove why I will never open an account. No image to see and they try to pushout pop up crap and say you need to join to see an image.

So far this Snake is not winning any points with me. It still seems ugly and I for one am not impressed with this way of trying to get interest in their Halo Car.

    • ...and the pain of authoritarianism on actual human lives. Nothing going on now will end well for any of us... I so want to see Italy. Want to spend some time there, will be one of the first stops when I retire.  Likewise... More bad weather coming... I own almost everything I need, and buy tools I want used, usually. Folks can suffer for the idiotic election.  Maybe I need to heed your advice.
    • It will be like the VW TDI fiasco, cars sitting unsold for a year due to the stupidity of our government.  This will make the US appear less stable, and people will be LESS likely to trust us or want to build plants here.  Honestly, all of this makes me want to own a BYD or Hyundai product....
    • I learned of this today.  This is interesting and even hilarious. https://news.delta.com/media/image/60136 Delta will soon start flying from JFK to Sicily daily through early fall.  It makes sense and eliminates that extra step.  Instead of Palermo, the island's capital, it will go to Catania, the second city but busier airport, since the beach resorts and Mt. Etna are on that side of the island. I'm betting the passengers will be quite a bit more colorful than on the JFK to Rome flight.
    • Based on sales rates for the auto dealers, it might be 180 days as people who are not forced to buy a new auto are holding off. I am seeing my neighbors who were thinking of getting a new auto have now held off waiting to see where prices go as dealers are already raising prices with add on stickers here about Tariff fee. 😒 I suspect there is some unsavory sales being done too for increased profits.
    • In about 90 days when dealer lots start to run dry, those Hornets might actually start finding customers.   I have only seen a few on the road.  Mostly they just sit on dealer lots.
