Honda Prologue Is Likely to End Production This Year

Honda's Prologue SUV is likely ending production in 2026 after sales dropped 76% when EV tax credits expired, with just 17,900 units expected for the year.

On the heels of Honda's announcement that it is canceling development of its 0 Series SUV, 0 Series Saloon, and Acura RSX EVs, Honda is expected to end production of the electric Prologue SUV at the end of this year.

Initial production of the Prologue had strong sales with Honda moving 39,000 units in 2025. However, with the expiration of the $7,500 tax credit at the hands of the Trump administration, sales tumbled 76 percent.

The Prologue is a joint-venture built with General Motors at GM's plant in Mexico. Honda has already slashed production of the Prologue and now expects to sell only 17,900 units for 2026. The Acura ZDX, another GM joint venture EV model was canceled late in 2025.

Honda's electric vehicle restructuring could cost Honda up to $15.8 billion.

This is disappointing. I really like the looks of the Prologue compared to its GM counterparts.

I am keeping an on eye on local ones because they've depreciated so damn much. I'd love to get into one of these. I need to get to my closest Honda dealership to test drive one.

Short sighted vision, GM incurred costs to stop / slow down EV production not because it was costing them money as they were at a breakeven point.

Honda was smart to team up with GM and could move forward, but again short-sighted view makes me think Honda Automotive is not long for staying independent in this new era.

Costco is offering MASSIVE deals on Prologues right now, like $17,000 off plus cheap leasing.

I've seen many in the 23-27k range and they only have like 15-20k miles on them. It's hard to believe Costco pricing beats that.
