    Leaked: Mazda6 UPDATED

    For the

    of weeks,
    has been teasing us with
    showing off the new
    that will be shown at the Paris Motor Show in September.

    But a Russian site called AutoWP has released a high-resolution image of the new 6 onto the web.

    The new 6 looks to be a carbon copy of the Takeri concept, right down to the grill. This will be Mazda's second vehicle that will use the Kodo design language, the first being the CX-5 crossover.

    Engines will include 2.0L Skyactiv inline four-cylinder engine and a 2.2L Skyactiv-D engine, both going through six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

    The new 6 will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in September.

    Update: Earlier this morning, Mazda let loose some official pictures of the new 6 and announced the new 6 will premiere at the Moscow Auto Show next month. You might be scratching your head and wondering why Mazda picked Moscow as the place to launch the new 6. The reason is due to Russia emerging as a automotive market.

    For the Russian market Mazda6, that will be a equipped with a SKYACTIV-G 2.0L gas engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

    Mazda will still show the new 6 at the Paris Motor Show in September, likely announcing what each market will get when the 6 is launched.

    Redesigned Model to Receive Full Suite of SKYACTIV Technologies, KODO Design Theme

    IRVINE, Calif. (July 24, 2012) – The highly-anticipated all-new 2014 Mazda6 will make its global debut during press preview days at next month's Moscow International Automobile Salon. The redesigned vehicle will be the second Mazda to be fully incorporated with SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, the brand's proprietary engineering focus on developing fuel-efficient, performance-oriented vehicles as a result of lightweight and redesigned engine, transmission, chassis and body structures.

    On display in Moscow will be a Russian-specification sedan featuring a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle also will feature "i-ELOOP," the world's first capacitor-based regenerative braking system. In real-world driving conditions, which involve frequent acceleration and braking, i-ELOOP, a name derived from "Intelligent Energy Loop," will improve fuel economy by up to 10 percent.

    More information on the all-new 2014 Mazda6 sedan will be announced during a press conference on Wednesday, August 29. The complete lineup of 2014 Mazda6 vehicles will make their global debut in late September at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. Markets and specific models will be announced at a later date.

    For the most part midsize FWD family sedans don't appeal to me these days (the new Fusion might sway me, however I think there will be too many on the road) but a diesel Mazda6 certainly has potential.

    Bingo...question is...qill Mazda survive as a low volume independent?

    Methinks they are a bit where Studebaker was in the mid fifties...building some interesting cars, but heading for extinction....

    True if Mazda, Suzuki and possibly Subaru do not merge into a more global competative car company, I think the first two will die and go away and Subarau will become a bastered child of some larger auto company. AKA Replacement for the ugly worthless Scion division, replaceed by Subuaru Division.

    I think the interior is boring...same complaint with the CX-5...but the idea of a Mazdaspeed6 successor, coupe, and diesel are all very intriguing...I think the exterior is quite attractive

      Later this month, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 will begin arriving at dealers in the U.S. Before this happens, Mazda has revealed the pricing for the upcoming crossover. The base CX-5 Sport will carry a price tag of $24,985 (includes a $940 destination charge).
      All CX-5s will come equipped with a 2.5L SkyActiv-G four-cylinder and six-speed automatic (sorry, no manual transmission is on offer for this generation). The 2.5 produces 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard, while Mazda's i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system adds $1,300 to the base price.
      The CX-5 Sport comes decently equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, Smart City Brake Support, 7-inch color touchscreen with Mazda Connect, push-button start, and power accessories. 
      The CX-5 Touring ($26,855) adds blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, dual-zone climate control, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, six-way power driver's seat, keyless entry, and auto-leveling LED headlights.
      Wrapping up the CX-5 lineup is the Grand Touring ($30,335). This model features full LED lighting outside, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather seats, eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar, rain-sensing wipers, and heated exterior mirrors.

      Mazda Posts Sales Increase of 5.9 Percent in February
      Mazda MX-5 Miata Posts Best February Since 2006 IRVINE, Calif. (March 1, 2017) – Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) today reported February U.S. sales of 22,824 vehicles, representing an increase of 5.9 percent versus February of last year. With an equal amount of selling days in 2017 as in 2016, year-to-date sales through February are up 7.9 percent versus last year, with 44,522 vehicles sold.
      Key February sales notes:
      The Mazda MX-5 posted its best February since 2006 with 1,108 vehicles sold. With much of the country posting above-average temperatures in the month of February, sales of the MX-5 grew, marking a year-over-year (YOY) increase of 46 percent. Sales totals for the MX-5 include both the MX-5 soft top and MX-5 RF. As the 2016.5 model year Mazda CX-5 completes its last few months on the showroom floor, sales of the vehicle line remain strong, with 7,836 vehicles sold in the month of February. This number represents an increase of 3.4 percent YOY. The all-new 2017 Mazda CX-5 will go on sale in late-March 2017. Sales of the Mazda CX-9 rose 368 percent YOY with 2,157 vehicles sold in the month of February. Total sales of Mazda‘s CX crossover SUV line, including the CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9, were up 14.6 percent YOY with 11,272 vehicles sold in the month of February. When making purchase decisions regarding crossover SUVs, Mazda customers continue to choose the AWD option, with 62 percent of CX-line vehicles sold in February being equipped with i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive. Mazda Motor de Mexico (MMdM) reported February sales of 3,786 vehicles, down 8.5 percent versus February of last year.

      Mazda is in the process of trying to position themselves as a premium brand that you can actually afford. Autoblog had the chance to speak with Jacques Flynn, a lead exterior designer, and Jacob Brown, a PR representative for Mazda. 
      A key part of Mazda's premium plans is their Kodo design language. Flynn explained that Mazda will be simplifying and evolving the look of Kodo on their various models. A key example is the recently introduced second-generation CX-5. Compared to the outgoing model, the new CX-5 features fewer curves to make it look tauter. 
      Diesel will also play a key part in Mazda's premium ambitions. Brown explained that diesel has the air of premium surrounding it as luxury automakers, for the most part, offer them in the U.S. Mazda was hoping not to use urea-injection for their diesel models, but ultimately had to give in to meet emission standards and performance benchmarks.
      Those hoping that Mazda would bring back Mazdaspeed on some performance models will be disappointed to hear it could be a while before this happens. Both Flynn and Brown said the company's focus is "on making the core line-up cohesive." Being a small company, they cannot take any chances on working a number of projects at the same time since that could result in a misstep or two.
