    Trivia Tuesday: January 6, 2015

Trivia Tuesday for January 6th 2015

I have a number of new features planned for CheersandGears.com for 2015. The first new feature comes to us from long time member Balthazar. He has cued up trivia questions for us to answer each week. Some weeks, we will be offering prizes to the first to answer all 5 questions correctly. We will reveal the answers to this week's questions in next week's post.

    1. In the long-running TV series "Married with Children", what brand/model car was Al Bundy always bemoaning?
    2. Name 3 makes of American automobiles that have had special 'Hurst' Editions.
    3. In which state was the 'Springfield' Rolls Royce auto built?
    4. What was the first model year of the Chevy Bel Air?
    5. Which 2 U.S. brands of autos presented "Daytona" models in the 1960s?

1 Bundy had a Gold Plymouth Duster on the shows I saw.

2 Hurst Olds [442], AMC Hurst Scrambler, Hurst Chrysler 300, Hurst Pontiac GP for extra credit

3 Springfield Massachusetts was where the chassis and engines were built the bodies at Brewster in NY and other custom shop as done in the era.

4 Trick question as many will say 1955 but it was the 1950 Chevy with the new body style that was the first Bel Air

5 Dodge Daytona,  Studebaker Daytona and hmmm. Will you accept the limited edition Shelby Daytona Coupe?

    • Very interesting, a Texas Power Company assembled a list of states where it pays to switch to an EV. While all 50 states can save you money if you hold the EV for 10 years over an ICE, these 10 states save you the most the fastest. The 10 states in America where switching to an EV will save you the most money
    • If the octopus is rubbery, they over cooked it. It should have a slight chew but not be rubbery. Properly cooked octopus is good, much like Lobster. Yet with that said, I do agree with you that lately if you're eating at a restaurant, the quality of the cooked food has gone down, and I think that will turn people off from various proteins that can be very delicious.
    • @G. David Felt I agree with this broad rule of thumb.  I once tried octopus in a seafood salad at a Y2K celebration.  I thought it was chicken.  I kept chewing and it was weird and rubbery.  With my mouth full, I again asked what it was.  I was told "polpo," initially misunderstanding it to be "pollo." I went to the bathroom and spit it out. I now do eat things I didn't like before - lamb, pork chops, and more shellfish.  The few times I've had lobster lately, the quality seems to have gone down, so I'm not as impressed as I used to be. - - - - - What I was going to say ... People love to talk about cars.  What may initially start out as a tentative (parking lot) conversation turns enthusiastic when it's genuinely only cars that you want to talk about.
    • An oldie but a goodie. It could almost run on just its instrumentals.
