Holding for service

Dang it.

I am holding for a online chat with the customer support people for the server of my Camaro Club's website. Our forum is messed up and I know I didn't do it.

I got ahold of someone and he was trying to research the problem and got cut off. Now I am on hold again.

I would really like to get that thing fixed and then maybe get some rest. I've been up since 6PM last night.

Does this kind of thing drive anyone else nuts?

They couldn't figure out the database error and had to refer the problem to a specialist so I won't know what the fix is for a while.

Oh well. The club doesn't have too much going on right now and can deal with it, I guess. I just hate not having everything working for them. I am pretty proud of the site and most everything on it.

woohoo, they figured it out. They transitioned to a new system and the forum couldn't find the database.

Hmmm, I definately need to start taking classes and actually learn what I am doing rather than try to teach it all to myself. It would probably allow me to really improve both the club's and my own website.

They sound like rocket scientist! :scratchchin: They couldn't figure out the database error, even though they knew they had transitioned to a new system! :rotflmao:

Actually it was the new database address, which hasn't caused everyone problems yet.

Since I uploaded my forum myself instead of installing theirs the database address problem wasn't so obvious. The 'localhost' should have worked but we had to go for the exact address. I give them credit for what they did. They've been a good host and its a pretty good deal for the club.

Besides sometimes what seems obvious in hindsight will stump people for a long time. Even experienced car people sometimes put the distibutor in 180 degrees out.
