Those attacks really drive me nuts, although I am now where I can filter out the crap and get the club's website back pretty quickly. Not bad for an amatuer, learning on the fly. We took Tammy's 90 Vette. They show director said they had no C4 Vettes last year and he wanted a good mix. With gas the price it is we decided on just 1 car this year for this show. BTW, our club president told me to take down a couple of pics because they had Fords in them. I guess our show director allowed a couple of Chevy powered Fords in. I figure if they were in the show they go on the gallery. The pics are still up. He's not too happy with me right now.

Well, maybe you don't but there are people out there willing to spend the money and get a faster Camaro.

I talked with the owner for about a half hour, very cool guy. He was very proud of his baby and took wonderful care of it. That's one of the best parts of shows like this, meeting the people. Next big one for us, Hot August Nights, classic car overload.

Ask any Camaro enthusiast which he/she would prefer a 69 Z/28 with the DZ302 or a 69 SS with and motor in a SS and guess which one they'll be more likely to choose. The Z/28 was a special option. It was something different. In the words of a man very close to the Camaro program, "Anything can be an SS but only a Camaro can be a Z/28." Don't be fooled by the 4th gens that had the SS as a modified Z28. Look at the history. The Z/28 is still special and will remain so. That's why having the Z/28 being a special edition with more power makes sense, it goes back to the roots and meanings of the Z/28. As for the new 6.2L Supercharged versus the 7.0L, if I remember correctly, the 6.2L is much cheaper to build. Heck, look at buying both engines aftermarket. The 6.2L supercharged is already cheaper than the 7.0L.

Yeah, this is what she does during mu UTAs. She has already informed me that she willl be taking the kids to a show on my unit's "Family Day." Oh well, can't say that I blame her. She told me that she caught some grief by a know-it-all who kept asking her why she was trying to pass our Skylark off as a GSX. The show entry said "Skylark Custom" but he couldn't read, I guess. I just can't wait for HAN, that's classic car overload, and a whole week of it!

Gotta agree that the Formula is the top pick. You can still get tires like that. Coker tires makes whitewall tires for just about ever classic, vintage, and antique car or truck out there.

If any comes to damage my cars they'll leave in a lot of pain, if they leave under their own power at all. I have had the "why do you drive a gas guzzler" conversation at work, only to prove that my Vette got better mileage than what they were driving. When one of the guys pointed out that I could only fit two people in my Vette, I asked them how many rode in their car to work. Of course, the answer was one. I get about 28MPG in my Vette and the longest I am up to 50MPH or above is about 6 miles, that's in a 27 mile commute. We average about 23 right now in the 95 Z/28. We haven't had Tammy's new Vette long enough to know what kind of mileage it will get in the long run. The 1st tank averaged about 22MPH (that included a bunch of having fun and Tammy learning shift points, both for economy and power). I don't think that it will get as bad as your dream Cort, unless gas shoots up to $10/gal incredibly fast, like this year or next, and the economy falls into a real depression. Even then, most of us enthusiasts will turn to more economic vehicles for our daily drivers. Our 'toys' will become a reminder of better days. As for choices in living locations, I am pretty happy where I am. Most of this area has a zoning rule of 1 house per 5 acres for new construction. Our place has a rule of no subdividing and all of the plots are around 1 acre. We have 1.1 acres ourselves. I know that zoning laws can change but even the eco-freaks don't want it more crowded out here. This way there are lots of trees and green zones. It makes for a nice balance and living conditions. Personally, I could not live comfortably in the city or in any of the new housing developments I see springing up around Tacoma and Seattle, the houses are too close together. Might as well build condos with excellent common facilities.

I'm not going to go into right or wrong on the rant that started this all, I'll just say this about it. Everyone needs to let off steam once in a while and as long as they don't let it turn into long lasting blind hatred then give people the benefit of the doubt and let them return to reason as they cool down. As for the financial comments posted though, I have been somewhat on both sides of the coin here. I grew up in a household that knew what it was like to wonder where the next meal would come from or if it would come at all. Both of my parents worked, and worked hard, to try to make ends meet. Now, I make enough to ensure that won't happen to my kids (and I am very grateful) and with Tammy working, together we earn pretty close to 6 figures. I have worked hard to get where I am at and spend quite a few nights working hard still. Being an Aircraft mechanic pays pretty decent, even working for the government (Civilian working for the Air Force), but I earn my pay. All of this means that I can understand the frustration known by those who have little or nothing, as well as know how it feels to be somewhat comfortable financially. Everyone, hating (or holding a grudge) against those who have made themselves a decent life is worthless, it may be hard but most anyone can improve their lot in life. I am pretty decent proof of that. Take care all.

As for the new Camaro, I know some of the F-Body clubs around here have already stated that they don't care what platform the new Camaro is on, it is IN! Not a problem for our club though, being a Camaro club. Although, there have been plenty of jokes about changing the name with all of our members who own other classics and cool cars, but calling ourselves the Pacific Northwest Camaro, Chevelle, El Camino, Corvette, Nova, Firebird, GTO, GSX, (And whatever else anyone could think of), would take FAR to long to say. Besides, the fun is so much more important than the name. Camino, will this help you get your F-Bod fix for a moment?

Hmm, let me think about that and what Tammy would do to me.... Hmmm, I don't think so. I enjoy living and would like to continue to do so.

I kind of figured that kind of thing was what older brothers are for, I know my own pretty much ran me ragged and kept trying to cinvince me to do things that were not exactly good for my health.

That's exactly it. The funny part about all of this is that a couple of her coworkers can't seem to understand that I have a job too and it pays a heck of a lot better than what they make. I spent a few months working for the school district as an evening custodian. I left due to someone being a jerk. When I was talking to the maintenance department supervisor I told him that I was there to help out since they were always critical short of people, not because I needed a second job. I was finally this week when he was talking to Tammy that it clicked for him. Being an aircraft mechanic (even civil service) pays MUCH better than being a janitor. Anyway, Tammy took the 90 into work today. So far I think she loves driving it, I know I do. It will be interesting to see what the actual mileage is. I know the computer was showing me over 30 driving home. In fact it reached 38 for a bit (that's average, not instant). The computer is 1-2MPG off on the 2000 Vette so I hope it is that close on the 90. What's really cool about this is that I average 28-30MPG in the 2000 and that's driving back and forth to work. It's a 30 mile commute but not more than 8 miles at highway speeds before having to slow down, stop, and then accelerate again. I don't drive insane but I also don't drive like an old lady. The worst I got was still over 25mpg and that included lots of playing around and having fun. We got about 28mpg in the Cavalier. It was an auto which didn't help much. BTW, that sold yesterday. We got the $1900 we were asking for it, which means that the selling price paid me back for everything I put into it, except gas. Heck, it even paid for the insurance and repairs I made to it. Not too bad. If we wind up geting about the same mileage in the 90 as in the 2000 then we'll be doing very well. I expect the first few tanks to come out on the low side as Tammy gets more and more used to driving a stick shift again. But as she gains experience, she'll learn and it'll settle into a decent average. Gotta love a 6 speed!

Come on 68, , enjoy the new Camaro as it is, you can do it. The B-Piller in the 5th gen doesn't look bad to me, but since I didn't grow used to actually seeing the new Camaro without it, seeing a b-piller in this car doesn't hurt the appearance. Now, a b-piller in a 1st gen would be a completely different story. Those cars have around 40 years of being out and we are all used to seeing them as they are.

You guys are going to scare me into not letting her drive it again, not really. I figured out a while ago that it is better to have her practice driving without me. She says I make her nervous about driving the fun cars.

Don't say things like that!! It's not good for my heart!! Well, since the 90 has the TPI 350 I am pretty sure the 2000 beat it. Now, if I can ever get her IROC back together, the 355 in it should beat out everything else we have.

This weekend, while we were working on the lawn, I had Tammy move the Vette away from the garage so I could take care of the grass around that area. Ok, Tammy doesn't drive a stick shift very often, and had never driven our 2000 Corvette, so I told her to take it out and get some practice while I finished up around the garage. That was a mistake. She came back with one of the biggest smiles on her face that I have ever seen. Then she promptly asked if she could take to work on Tuesday (today). Tammy considers some of the cars hers and some mine. I think of them all as ours. So, she will ask to drive one of 'my' cars before driving it. Well, she's at work and so is the Vette. She had to call me to tell me that she had more fun this morning and she didn't even drive fast. Oh well, that's no biggie, but she also wants a Vette of her own and she found the one she wants. It's a 1990 convertible. Thankfully, with the 6 speed. The only thing now is to see if it is doable or not. Sigh, one car nut being married to another car nut is sometimes fantastic, but it is usually expensive.

Nope, my Legos are long gone but I do have my kid's Legos (sometimes all over the house). Why, they sometimes see the need to wash one or two, I am not sure but at least once a week, some Lego (or other toy) makes it into the laundry.
