Odd terminology--'Hit the jump'

One thing I've noticed lately in blog postings and online articles is instead of 'click the link below' the strange phrase 'Hit the jump'. Sounds odd. Anyone else notice this becoming more common?

Yup, at Autoblog and Towleroad (I've stopped reading Towleroad lately because of the blatant, uncalled-for bias.)

I often see "after the jump." I don't really care what they call it.
