90" wheelbase

Recommended Posts

Who am I?

I'm a two-seater, quite sporty if I might add... (for the era)

You could either buy me assembled from the factory or in

KIT form. In this instance, a series of boxes would arrive

at your doorstep in exact order, 14 packages total, when

the first was paid for, the next would be sent, with the

buildup theoretically done concurrently as the packages

arrived, the assembly being feasible for the average man.

And, my "windshield" was bolted to the steering column.

NO. :P

This is NOT a replica.

HINT: it's body-on-frame and the gas tank sits on TOP of the frame rails.

Not quite a hundred. :)

I'm thinking of something like a Stutz Bearcat or a Model T speedster, something with a tiny round or multi-sided windshield on the column. No idea what was available in kit form, though.

C'mon people.

A few more hints.

Its name might make you think of a Baseball Team, though not spelled the same.

It was powered by a 4-cylinder motor... and it had chain drive.

....also, 2300 were "produced", many in kit form by customers but others from the factory.

Indian motorcycle?

I thought that...I seem to recall reading about them building a car at one time, but don't recall the details. I went through a list last night of MLB baseball team names, couldn't find any info online about car companies w/ similar names. Must be very obscure. Maybe the 1920 Red Sox car from Ma ? :)

Mets?

Dodge was an excellent guess.... but it's Mets.... but more like with a Z.

Too tired to fid a good write-up on the net, the trivia question was

prompted by one of my many books highlighting American Cars.

Here's a quick synopsis:
