The one I mostly closely associate with Oldsmobile was "We've had one built...for you. Oldsmobile." That was during Olds' heyday when the Cutlass was becoming the most popular car in the country. My least favorite: "Oldsmobile quality. Feel it." This one rang hollow and was during the beginning of Olds' decline. GM quality was not good at this time. Probably the most memorable, if often unliked, especially by Madison Avenue types: "This is not your father's Oldsmobile. This is the new generation of Olds." I liked this campaign. On the videotapes that Ninety_Eight_Regency so generously sent to some of us, the commercials for the new cars showed Ringo Starr and Priscilla Presley.

And suddenly Olds' decline starts to make more sense. Those taglines through the 80s and 90s sucked. I guess the "something" they were trying to start was the phasing out of the product line? My favorites, although cheesy, are the 50s rocket ones. And this one: "To design progressively ... to build faith ... to sell honestly ... to serve sincerely" sounds more like an oath of office than a sales pitch.

I like 'There's a Special Feel in an Oldsmobile."

Ever heard the song on the tape Olds gave to 80s customers...

"There's a feeling of pride when you step inside"

Ross has it on tape and we listen to it and laugh our asses off! Super cheesy 80s synthesizors (sp?) and some 'hand model for adog commercial' (his words) singing his heart out like he was Bon Jovi.

All joking aside I love Olds. out of the list above my favorites are these three:

1939 Setting the pace - different times, different models, but always top-flight performance.

1940 - 1941 Styled to lead - built to last.

1966 Step out front in 66 ... in a Rocket action Olds!
