King Kong

You guys are gonna love this one. The most intense, terrifying, visually spectacular, thrilling, amusement ride of a movie. Peter Jackson is the new Steven Spielberg. This is the movie War of the Worlds should have been. Most. Incredible. Film-going. Experience. Ever. Most. Ever. Is that enough hype? Good, cause you still won't believe how good it is.

The Book can never live up to one's expectations. Look at Jurassic Park. The book was better, but I give them credit for doing a decent job of adapting the book. I agree that Lord of the Rings was a complicated book to adapt and a decent job was done. The two earlier versions of King Kong were on TV last night. I actually prefer the 1933. Jessica Lange (who is an amazing actor)sucked in the second one! Horrible and drawn out. I can't wait to see the new one. I just pray it is better than Bewitched.

Yeah, Peter Jackson is a special effects genius. Even in his older stuff (well, Dead Alive, the only one I've actually seen) when he had basically no resources, he made brilliant use of what he had. The key to his work, that sets it apart from people like Spielberg and Lucas, is that he doesn't let the special effects overwhelm the rest of the movie. His work still has heart to it.
