Lucerne's Grill

Featured Replies

I think this has been covered, but I think Buick really screwed up on the Lucerne grill. First, the shape is homely, not bold. Second, they black out the grill on the upmarket CXS and CXL trying to appeal to "Euro" buyers. Bring out the chrome baby. Despite all that I wouldn't mind owning a Ming Blue CX with a cloth bench and that homely but shiny grill. But I'd wait for the $$$ to come down or buy a one year old low mileage rental.

Lots of people would have to disagree with you. I'm neither for nor against it. It serves it's purpose of being the stop-gap design for the newer, more attractive Buicks on the way (Enclave, and a possible Velite)

I would have to agree with you, but I do think the all chrome grill :)

I am thinking about getting a Black CXL and I saw a pciture with it like this and I think it looks pretty nice.

I like it fine just the way it is.... The chrome grille adds spice to the lower models and the black grille matches the portholes of the upper model better.

I think the Lucerne is an awesome car... It has some compromises, but overall an A.

I pointed out this whole issue a long time ago. It was a stupid, stupid decision to put the chrome grill on the base model. Now it will cost $$ for somebody who buys a CXL or CXS to undo that.

I would think that Buick would have the black grille on all models with the chrome surround. It just looks better. I hope they change the weak looking grille on the LaCrosse for 07.

IMO this was the best looking grill Buick's designed in decades:

Reminiscent of the big toothy grilles of the 50's, but without being gaudy or retro - your sig is the perfect example, rivieraranch.

I wonder if Buick could incorporate the alternating big-tooth/little-tooth idea in the current waterfall grill?
