  1. Looks nice but I sure hope the cladding is just a trim level on the wagon and that there are going to be more than two interior colors available. Also there is no mention of a V6
  2. Well anything is an improvement over the current LaCrosse but if they make it 4 cylinder only that will cheapen the new car and turn off luxury oriented buyers.
  3. OMG please no. Not another electronic think for you nanny. So what happens to this with the front end of your vehicle covered in ice or snow thus disabling some of the sensors? Speaking of ice what happens then? Does this system know enough to disable in temps below 34 degrees or so? If these manufacturers had a brain they would keep this as an option and not force it down everybodies throats.
  4. Bloated, bland and generic plain bar of soap as per usual. The front looks like somebody punched it hard and gave it a fat chrome lip. I wonder if it comes with a lisp
  5. The sad part is the soon we will be seeing these ugly toads all over the place.
  6. The point being made was that the way many go on and on how wonderful the VW 1.8T is that a mere 2.4 NA spanked it in a race from a Hyundai doesn't say much for VW's new mill. The kid was driving that VW like it was a race car. It was worth the look on his face to see a Sonata move right by him so yeah it was a fun evening on Saturday actually!
  7. I Had a rental 2014.5 Camry SE 2.5 and was shocked at the abysmal interior quality and the fact it died right in my driveway with a low battery that couldn't start the car the following morning. Apparently this very rental car was to Toyota before for this exact issue and they couldn't find the problem. Luckily I had a battery charger on hand to get the car going and back to the rental agency. Inside the passenger side A-pilar molding plastic piece was coming apart due to a broken plastic clip, the center dash vents popped out onto my drink going over a set of hearty railroad tracks, the cloth seat material was some of the cheapest sand paper like crap i have ever sat in and actually caused a skin rash on the back of my legs on a long trip! That black and painted on fake silver was more appropriate for a 18k Corolla, not a 26K Camry! Haven't driven a new 2015 yet but several interior touch points still feel really cheap starting with the wafer thin headliner, the carryover garbage seat material and the flimsy cup holder divider which always pops out if you have an oversized drink in there.
  8. Not surprising considering how much more technology that is being stuffed into these cars. Tires are bigger and bigger. More and more std equipment. Subscriptions to things like Onstar and Satellite radio add to these monthly payments and now wifi is being offered. It's small wonder so many people are broke and filing for bankruptcy these days.
  9. The LaCrosse had better be available with a V6 in LGX 3.6 form or sales might be soft. The new 3.6 will probably get the same mileage as the current 2 liter turbo in the Regal/Malibu so there is no excuse not to offer it in this larger sized car. And speaking of the Regal the 2016 base 160 HP Malibu engine will be a joke in a more expensive car like the Regal. It should be starting out with at least a minimum with the 200 Hp 1.6T.
  10. Looks like it was left out in the sun too long. And those silly slit windows are getting out of hand.
  11. Lexus owners must be a happy bunch. The reason why. There cars still looks basically the same 10 years in a row with changes so small and subtle most owners will never notice them. As is the case with this car. Pull off a little chrome, give is a semi predator grille and make it as plain boring and generic as ever and literally no one will ever notice. Ditto the beige exterior. That says it all!
  12. I wouldn't pay 10K for one let alone the insane price they came up with. People today have shunned 2 door coupes. A small cramped fashioned statement with a massive price tag just won't work in today's world.
  13. I'm impressed overall but will reserve final judgement when final prices and MPG are announced. I also hope Chevy avoids Ford's mistake of making the basic V6 model so restricted on options forcing you to upgrade to the 4 cylinder turbo.
  14. Dr Who called. He wants his robot dog's name back. Master!
  15. It's almost surreal that these things cost upwards of 90K or the price of a decent sized house in my neck of the woods.
  16. Say what! At nearly 37 large this thing doesn't even have a 6 was power seat? What in the world are they thinking? At this high price point there should be no less than an 8 way driver's seat and at the very least a 4-way passenger. This is what kills me about GM. They take a good product and give it half baked engines, over price it or don't give it competitive standard features or cheap out on crash worthiness. In this case they have a knock out truck with great driving dynamics and towing and two very good engines and then go and hamstring it with GM's lazily programmed transmission, a 4-way un-competitive driver seat and only 4 starts in the latest crash test results effectively handing that title over to the new F-150. In this game you need a strike out right out of the gate. The Colorado strikes me as third base.
  17. Yes that rear window is odd but I do like the slightly lowered belt line for the rear door. The triangle pattern seats on the higher trim level does seem like a throw back.
  18. It's not so much the specs of rear seat legroom but how this platform handles the floor pan back there. If you look in the back seat of the ATS the floor pan juts out into where your feet would go effectively reducing what little space is available. Just because this car is compact does not give it a free pass for no space back there. The touch capacative crap needs to go along with Cue, the turbo and 3.6 should be getting better MPG numbers than they do and the price of this car is just too high. It would be a cold day in hell before I shelled out 51 large for a small cramped coupe with a 4 cylinder engine that drinks gas like a V6 even with the 4 wheel drive!
  19. My friend has a 2015 red Limited that he loves. It is so well equipped that it is totally unnecessary to even look at the Azera unless you must have that V6 engine. One flaw is that Hyundai refuses to make the turbo available for the actual Limited model. There is a turbo Limited but it's basically just a more loaded Sport turbo with the silly flat bottom steering wheel, boring silver interior trim and hard high seat bolstering. The actual Limited car comes with a normal steering wheel, nice leather seats and wood interior trim which we prefer to the drab silver look. He has had zero issues with the car which now has 30K miles on the clock and almost always averages well over 30 MPG. The 2.4 has livened up quite a bit since new. We positively spanked a 2014 Passat with it's mighty 1.8 turbo engine in a drag race and the kid driving that car looked quite embarrassed. If only the car looked more exciting!
  20. that's why I say, why did they get rid of the 2.5? It made 25/36 in the fat 2015, it would have made likely 26/37 or better in the new one, and many of GM's long time customers are turbo averse..... Motor trend found the 2015 Malibu 2.5 got 6 mpg less than the combined EPA MPG. The worst difference between real world and EPA mileage of the 6 mid-size 2015 cars tested. Hopefully, the 2016 EPA numbers are closer to real world numbers. That would explain the small difference in MPG from 2015 to 2016. I own a 2015 Malibu 1LT with the 2.5 engine. In winter, my real world city mileage was 19 MPG, not 25. Start stop doesn't work as much when it is cold. I never ever go by what Motor Trend gets for real world MPG. If you go and look at all there long term test cars you will notice that most of them are getting city ratings as MPG averages. These guys are not only driving very low mileage pre-production green cars but also beat the tar out of them while performing tests. I have rented several 2014 Malibu 2.5 stop/start cars in LS and Lt form. Each had in the range of 10-15K miles. They consistently averaged very close to the 29 MPG combined rating on the stickers and the LS actually saw up to 37 on one long stretch going 73 MPH!
  21. 300 lbs lighter + new 8 speed fwd transmission. They are saying that performance of the new powertrain will be equal or better than the 2.5 and with better fuel economy. That's why. The 2.0 is a torque machine not a horsepower machine. It will likely feel faster than V6es that have to wind up first. Actually the 8 speed is restricted to the 2.0T. The new 1.5T only comes with the 6 speed trans.
  22. With all the hype that was stirred up about this car I have to admit i'm underwhelmed, especially with the power trains. Where are the paddle shifters? Why is the base engine down a full 36 HP and 7 torque? With 300 LBS chopped off the curb, continuation of stop/start and a much smaller engine you would think they could have got closer to 38-40 highway MPG. And how/why did the 2.0 liter turbo lose 37 LBS .FT of torque and 9 horses for such a small MPG gain. As for the styling I'm seeing lots of Fusion/Altima/Avalon/Dart and 200 in the side profile if you take those lines out but the rear does look pretty good. Not too sure about the three tier grille though. It's just soooo fussy. With that said it does look like an improvement on the current car and the interior is nice.
  23. I will no longer recommend a Subaru anything to anybody after what two good friends went through with there 2007 Legacy and 2008 Forester. Head gaskets. Rear main seals. Wheel bearings. Sunroof leaks. Squeaks and rattles. And neither of these two vehicles had in excess of 80K miles when most of this stuff failed. This car has took a regressive step backwards in styling and now looks very similar to a 2015 Hyundai Sonata which is often criticized for dull boring looks.
  24. A stupid move. Especially when consumer confidence is still not very strong with GM products. Just about everybody I know has traded their GM product in on a foreign competitor and this just re-enforces why. Bean counters still rule the roost at the general and always will. With technology at an all time high, drive train warranties will be looked at more than ever unless your Toyota or Honda who people will blindly trust even if there was no warranty at all. Shortening the warranty on a GM will be perceived as that manufacturer not having confidence in their product.
