Lutz: "Saturns & Opels will differ only in badge"

10 posts in this topic

Well, that's good news. If Saturn's have interiors that are all good as Opels in materials, they will kick ass.

Also, I'd like to applaud Lutz for not letting Autoweek get away with just a rediculous comment. I don't see what the problem is; BMW, MB, Audi, and many other companies sell exact copies of their cars in other countries too, and Autoweek would never complain about that.

My question: When is C&G going to merge the Opel and Saturn forums?

Before or after the Astra comes to the states?

I think that should happen since Opel really isn't an overseas brand anymore.

We could make a "Classic Opel" and "Classic Saturn" forum.

Just a suggestion.

I'd leave 'em seperate - there will still be talk of the pre-opelization products, and the new products won't 100% overlap. For example, I'd be really suprised if we see the tigra over here. (though I wouldn't complain - it's a unique vehicle I could probably come to like pretty well). I suppose I could see the merge once nearly all the NA-only product are gone, but having 2 shared models (the GT/SKY and Astra, since the Aura isn't an exact copy, is it?) isn't really enough to call them the same thing, IMO.

And differ in interior control layout, please?

I hope the one we get still has the steering on the left side... :P

As for the forums, just keep them separate. Vauxhall and Opel are still collectively known as GM Europe. Saturn is GMNA.

I hope that GM goes bankrupt and that some other automaker adds dent resistant body panels, since GM said "screw you" to those Saturn buyers who wanted that feature!

Yea, because Saturn sales were just through the roof
