Not Your Typical Volt Review

post-1757-0-90328500-1296331783.jpg

Gene Weingarten is not your typical automotive journalist. that's because he isn't one. In fact by his own admission he has very little knowledge of the automotive world. What Weingarten is however, is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning writer for The Washington Post. He also has a preexisting bias against American cars, and went into the review with a disdain for the Volt. He wanted very badly to hate the car. However what he found in actuality was not what he expected.

Head over to his review, and have a good read. Its worth the five pages.

I read this a little bit ago. While the guy got a little expressive it was a nice story.

It was good to see a story by someone that is just a regular Yuppie American car hating snob. It was nice to fine that what he found he can be wrong about his preconceived impressions and ideas.

The story also shows that GM may have really hit a note with electric/gas combo. The writer with out prompting really shows that he likes the idea that the car has unlimited range with the gas as even a simple 100 mile trip limits his ability.

I hope this will reflect many more non car people as these are the real people GM needs to buy these cars.

His impression of the Leaf was the same as GM was hopping to find. The fact of limite range and long charging times are just not up to what is acceptable to the average driver year. Some may be willing to work with it but most would find it a pain in the A$$.
