  1. 1. Laudable or Ludicrous?

    • Laudable! Wouldn't mind driving it myself. Windows are a pain to wash anyway.

    • Ludicrous! I hate dubz and air ride suspension belong on Semi's, not uselessly low cars.

You are bidding on a striking, unique custom 1960 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery. This is a rare TRUE Sedan Delivery. It has been customized as “Hot Rod 101” an explanation of everything Hot Rod (including a stroked 409) in the tradition of a teacher’s chalkboard lesson.

This wagon is equipped with a 409 stroked to 472 ci, 700R4 overdrive transmission, 4-wheel disc brakes, posi, air ride, power steering, power brakes, Vintage Air A/C, remote door poppers, rear camera and custom BC/CC paint. Car runs and drives great. It has great road manners and overdrive to save some fuel but can also fry the tires off. Car has about 500 miles on it and has only been to 5 select shows in the area and is not “known” yet. If you’re shy and don’t want attention … DONT BUY this!

Engine: The engine is a true 409 ci that has been stroked to 472 ci. It is equipped with a March serpentine drive system and pushes an estimated 600+ hp. The only factory-original 409 piece is the 1964 “x” block. Everything else is brand new aftermarket. Eagle forged balanced rotating assembly, Ross forged pistons, Crane Hydraulic ROLLER cam and lifters. The top half is Edelbrock… heads, dual-quad intake, carbs and air cleaner with Endurashine coating. Scorpion roller rockers, double roller timing chain, Melling HV oil pump and windage tray, Edelbrock high-volume water pump, HEI ignition, Aluminum radiator, dual electric fans. Custom drive shaft. Exhaust is Doug’s headers going into custom 2 ½” stainless steel exhaust.

Transmission: The 700r4 trans (with overdrive) was custom-built to handle the 600 plus hp 409. Everything is new inside. New drum, spragues, corvette servos, Beast shell, modified valve body, etc. Hughes 2300 stall converter and B&M lock-up controller.

Rearend: The rearend is equipped with a factory posi unit and 4:11 gears, New moser axles and Wilwood disc brakes. It has an added driver side upper control arm so the rear end functions as a true performance 4-link set up. Emergency brakes do work.

Suspension: is a 4-corner air ride system. Front suspension is a custom drop spindle with 12” rotors and Wilwood disc brakes. Rear suspension has custom “lowering style” upper and lower adjustable control arms and adjustable panhard bar. Brand new 20” Boss chrome rims and BFGoodrich KDW G-Force tires.

Body/Paint: The body was completely soda blasted to bare metal. Repairs were made and custom modifications performed. The paint is a custom “slime green, gold pearl” base coat clear coat paint job with ghost flames. The lettering is painted on under the clear coat; they are NOT decals. 4 coats of Urethane clear were sprayed on top to bury the lettering and flames.

Body Work: The body is basically all metal (Hood, fenders, doors, rockers and tailgate are all original metal with no patch panels) except for filling the body molding along the fins, filling flaws and around where new panels were installed. Quarter panels were cut from the mid point down and replaced. Since the quarters were being replaced I redesigned the inner quarter panels for additional custom storage spaces for equipment like stereo’s, air ride, etc. The spare tire compartment is still in place so a tire can be stored.

A new one-piece floor pan was installed using the existing floor supports. The original floor only had minor holes and was not rotted, but there were several large cut-outs in the hump from different shifters. I decided to replace the entire floor for a better appearance. The floor pan was also modified to allow the exhaust hide up into the floor so the car to be lowered to the max. Modifications were made to allow the exhaust to exit thru the body.

Tailgate is all metal with filler used for custom touches. Rear window was removed and a panel installed. Although the car is originally a Biscayne model, a third tail light was added on each side – creating a custom Impala Sedan Delivery.

The body has many custom features including … shaved door handles (all the doors and tailgate work on remote controlled door poppers), shaved moldings, custom hood accent and molding, sectioned wheel well arches, modified wheel tubs to fit the 31.5” tires, additional third brake light (for the Impala appearance). Tail lights are sequential. A one piece vinyl top installed for a one-of-a-kind custom look. Bumpers are rechromed. All new aftermarket tinted glass (windshield, doors, vent glass) and gaskets. Other new parts on the body are the tail lights, weatherstripping, mirrors and wiper arms. New brake and fuel lines, master cylinder, power booster and fuel sender. All the wiring is new throughout the car. All gauges and lights work.

Frame is in great shape, no damage, rust or weak points. Frame was sandblasted and painted. Some areas were stiffened up with added gussets and welding especially around suspension anchor points. All new body mounts were installed.

Other info Although the exterior is basically done the interior is not complete in any way. This is still a work in progress - an open canvas that can be finished your way. Dash has a stock appearance with aftermarket gauges. Black leather bucket seats are from a ’’07 cobalt. Center console is from a ’96 Impala SS. The rest of the interior needs to be designed and built.

Most of the electronics have not been installed or wired. Items and equipment that are already purchased and come with the car but are not installed yet include:

· New headliner

· New video stereo unit with split screen, DVD player, and rear-view camera.

· Some speakers and other equipment but no sub or amps yet.

· Remote control for door popper not installed but doors have manual buttons at present

· Door panels are older custom panels that need to be changed

· Vintage Air system is not installed under the dash. Condenser and compressor are installed.

· Some dash pieces need to be installed including the ash tray, glove box and heater controls. This is because the Vintage Air kit is not installed under the dash.

There are many other new parts that go with the car.

Other Info: Car comes with ignition key, clear Ohio title, and some extra parts.
