Custom Rim Wraps

Not sure where to put this since there isn't a DIY mod or customization sub-forum so apologies if this is miscategorized. A new product we're developing is custom rim wraps and, from what I can find on the interwebs this looks to be a pretty popular thing: http://customized-wheels.blogspot.com/2013/10/custom-rim-wraps.html

So, what are everyone's thoughts? Would you wrap your rims or would you go with chrome or aluminum rims? I think there is so much more room for personalization (if you check that link above you'll see a company that did a set of custom camo wrapped rims) with vinyl wraps but maybe that's my bias.

I'm a traditionalist, so this isn't for me really.

However, there are certain cars in the generations that I'm interested in that came with white painted rims or colored hubcap inserts.... I could see a use there.

The only thing I would use this for on a modern car would be that "Winter Mode" set, in black, for our CR-V or Encore.

I'd be interested in trying something like this out. I currently have polished aluminum rims (factory) on my 2006 GMC Envoy. I've always wanted white rims but don't have the $$$ to swap them out. If vinyl wraps were cheap enough, I'd consider them - especially for "winter mode".

I fall into the same camp as Drew. I have custom rims on all my SUV's and have no problem keeping them clean. Yet with that said, I can see those that love to customize their auto's using this to customize their rims or as Drew pointed out, winterizing their rims against road salt damage.

Some very valid use cases for this product. Good Luck.

Winter Mode protection for states with heavy road salt use.

Business use where building a marketing theme to push a product.

Seasonal wraps to match the current hot fashion trends of color and design.

Fleet standardization where buying slashed priced trucks or SUV's but wanting a consistent color, cheaper to wrap the auto than repaint it.

List can go on but I see why your company would come out with this, some very valid reasons.
