Electric G-Class for Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Nye the Science guy!

This info come via the Green Car Report, seems two things of notice have happened in Hollywood.

First, Bill Nye the Science guy who was one of the original lessors of the GM EV-1 from 20 Years ago and has been a strong proponent of everyone going EV is the proud new owner of a 2017 Kinetic Blue Chevrolet Bolt EV.

Besides driving an EV-1 and was not happy to have to turn it in and have it crushed, Bill says GM has redeemed themselves with the BOLT. To quote the story, Bill told GCR that the BOLT "is head and shoulders above the rest" and this comes from a guy that has driven the EV-1 for years and then bought the following EV auto's. The Mini E, BMW i3, Ford Focus EV, Volkswagen e-Golf, Nissan Leaf and still currently has his Toyota Prius Hybrid that rarely gets used today. Bill says that in all previous EV's he always worried about getting stuck as his work commute is almost 100 miles which is what prompted him to get the Prius. Now even if he goes to his alternative place which makes the commute 120 miles, he can still get there with no range anxiety.

Green Car Report - Bill Nye

Our second story come from GCR on what Arnold Schwarzenegger is up to in his native Austria. Kreisel which is a start up company making EV components and EV conversion concepts, worked with Arnold to take a Mercedes-Benz G-Class wagon and yank out the Diesel power train and install an AWD EV powertrain with 482 HP compared to the 245 HP diesel powertrain in the auto. This shaved off 3 full seconds in the 0 to 60 to be just 5.6 seconds. This G-Class has a 190 mile range battery pack and is fully capable of playing in the mud and off road.

Cool part is Arnold is all about being kind to the planet and as per the story, he drove a Hydrogen Hummer H2 previously and now will bring home this G-Wagon EV to replace it.

Volkswagen is planning a lineup of electric vehicles which include a hatchback, crossover, and small van. But a new report says the German automaker has ambitions to launch an electric vehicle with a pricetag of about 18,000 euros (about $21,000).
Sources tell Bloomberg the model in question will be a subcompact crossover and begin selling sometime after 2020. According to Reuters, the model is currently known as "MEB entry". Volkswagen is planning a production volume of 200,000 vehicles that will take place at three factories. This vehicle hasn't been approved by Volkswagen's supervisory board. According to sources, a discussion on the vehicle is expected to take place during their next meeting on November 16th - the same meeting that is reportedly where a discussion on possible expanding their partnership with Ford is expected to take place.
Sources also mentioned another electric model, the I.D. Aero. The midsize sedan and wagon would be built at Volkswagen's Emden plant in Germany. Emden is currently home to the production of the European Passat sedan and wagon, but sources say production of the model would move to the Czech Republic in 2022. Having the Aero take the Passat's place would help keep jobs at Emden.
      Volkswagen declined to comment.

What does everyone make of this photo?

      Jalopnik story
According to Jalopnik, an anonymous tipster emailed in photo's of a key fob and clearly proved it is from Cadillac by flipping the fob over to show the Cadillac logo on the back. The interesting thing is that the new leader of Cadillac has been busy rolling back all of the former leaders car focused stuff and refocusing on CUVs. Yet when asked about a new Halo auto and if the mid-engine corvette could be used as a base, the response was we will have something much more interesting and special for Cadillac.
Now with that said, we get pictures of this fob which would show a frunk and trunk plus a retractable roof. Is it possible that Cadillac could go AWD EV Halo on us?
What do you all think is going on here? Is it the fob to an EV Halo car, Hybrid Halo car, Mid-Engine ICE Halo?

A new report from Automobile Magazine says that smart is living on borrow time and could disappear by 2026 at the earliest.
According to various sources, Renault will be pulling out of partnership when the current Twingo/ForFour ends production. The two models share the same architecture in an effort to save costs. Without a partner, Mercedes-Benz isn't as keen to keep smart around.
A key question is whether or not Mercedes-Benz will produce a new model with a three-pointed star to compete against the likes of the Mini Cooper and Audi A1. A decision by the board needs to happen by 2021 when it must sign off the next-generation A-class, Why? That's because the new model will use the same platform as the next-generation A-Class. Automobile says the platform will replace the current MFA2 and allow for a "fully scalable, all-new convergence layout" - thus allowing an even smaller vehicle.
But there is a possible twist. Chinese automaker Geely owns a 9.7 percent stake in Daimler, and could become a replacement partner if a business case could be made for an electrified brand.
